  1. A lot of guys worry about this kind of stuff. Seriously. There are, in fact, many other books with this sort of information–and not by transvestites, and not intended for “weirdos”. (There are books with photos of women’s bodies for similar purposes, so it’s not just guys.)
This isn’t something I have a problem with, but a friend of mine does a lot of psychological work with people who have self-image problems and sexual issues, and I’ve learned an amazing amount about people by talking to her. I haven’t seen this particular book, but it can be deeply reassuring for someone to know they aren’t “totally weird” when it comes to the way their body looks. Normal variation on penis size/shape is very surprising, and most guys have no idea–I certainly didn’t. Ditto with women’s genitals and breasts.
So, hey, the title sucks but he’s trying to mainstream something that we really should be more open about. Credit given where credit is due.

  2. The one man I ever knew who was really proud of his equipage, reportedly justifiably, ultimately had this condition surgically corrected. I told his father “Don’t think of it as losing a son, think of it as gaining a daughter.”
