Right to die? Sounds more like right to kill to me!
Yet another case of how the national media has failed, dismally, to report a story fairly, accurately, and comprehensively.
Anyone — reporters especially — could take a few minutes to go to http://www.terrisfight.org (temporarily offline due to significant increase in traffic the last few days) and view recent videoclips of Terri interacting with her parents. There they could see for themselves that this woman is NOT, in any clinical sense, in a “persistent vegetative state.” She’s relatively responsive to stimuli, she moves her head, she tracks objects with her eyes, she laughs in response to jokes. It’s all there on film. She is most definitely NOT in a coma, as she has so often been described in the media.
Her parents simply want custody of her to take her home so that they can take care of her, but her husband, the lawyers, and certain elements of the State seem determined to starve this woman to death.
If this is a right-to-die issue, then I suppose the OJ Simpson case was about an assisted suicide?
