Embrace Hollywood

“Democrats need to embrace Hollywood because this is where they need to come to learn how to tell a story.” – Michael Moore*

The June 5 edition of Variety reports that a movie deal is in the works about the 21-year old lapsed-terrorist’s life. Paramount Pictures has even enlisted the Oscar-nominated screenwriter Keir Pearson to turn Abdurahman’s story into a script. The movie will reportedly find a feel-good lesson in Abdurahman’s journey from bin-Ladens training camp in Afghanistan, through Guantanamo and Bosnia to Toronto, Canada, where Khadr, having allegedly renounced his terrorist ways, now resides with other members of his family.

For his participation in the project, Khadr will be generously rewarded: The National Post, quoted by Daniel Pipes, reports that Abdurahman – the “good son” of the Khadr family – could earn as much as $500,000 when the movie debuts sometime around 2006. Daily Variety, also quoted by Pipes, suggests that the deal may be worth in the “mid- to high-six figures.” The producers hope Johnny Depp will star in the lead. Vincent Newman, president of Vincent Newman Entertainment, who bought the rights, is quoted hailing Khadr’s “a classic black sheep story – a story about the rebel of the family.” Khadr meanwhile has reserved the rights to develop the screenplay. Variety notes that “it appears it will follow the storyline that makes him look best….”

  1. Super! ‘Jehad-the Musical’ (Will the flick show Jean Cruton petitioning the Egyptian government to spring his daddy from jail? Do we get to watch our government handing his daddy a foreign aid grant for ‘humanitarian purposes’ in Afganistan?) Bloggers’ choice, for who gets to play the roles of Cruton, and the patriarch Khadr!
Theme song by Celine Dion, and a walk-on cameo by Pierre Pettifog? Yeah!

  2. I still have my doubts about whether this son of “al Kanadi” has really left terrorism behind. I would like to see where some of the money that he’ll get ends up going.

  3. For the JC petition scene to really work you would need a setup scene that showed the Liberal bagman accepting the “donation” from Papa Khadr’s charity. Then it would all make sense

  4. Canada has become nothing but a huge embarrassment to me as an expatriot who, being too old to leave, must continue to reside in this liberal quagmire.
As an Christian/Atheist (Christian values without the magic stuff) I thank god for men like George Bush for having the balls to take on these beasts.

  5. Hey, some good news in all this. Maybe the Terrorist Family Robinson can get off welfare and/or buy plane tickets to somewhere more to their liking (remember the mother Elsamneh’s rant a while back?).
In all seriousness, the family of the US medic murdered by the youngest son (the one the Cdn gov’t paid to fly back and treat his spinal injury) should sue the SOB’s into total poverty.

  6. After producing films like this (not to mention a possible Oliver Stone film about Sept. 11) Hollywood is still clueless why fewer people attend films.

  7. I thought Canada had laws against earning $ for crimes committed (weren’t they written around the time of K&P? or was that just written into K’s deal?). Or was it when Clifford Olsen was locked up & approached about a book?
Why wouldn’t that apply to this particular piece of slime?

  8. I wonder if those upstanding Kanadians will lose these fat royalty checks as often as they “lose” their passports…
Lefty-loving Hollywierd and Kanada are pathetic places – with useful idiots everywhere, but Kanada adds the dubious distinction of bearing 50+ active terror groups who know their support (and involvement?) in the lieberal party is a shield against prosecution.
No doubt the presence and operations of terrorists is OK with Joe Canuck, just so long as the killing is done elsewhere (USA, Israel, Afganistan, India). But what happens when they attack in Kanada (aside from screech wetting herself?)? will joe canuck finally wake up and throw off their liberal overlords?
Kanada – where terrorists get government grants, and call upon the PM to bail them out of peril for their terrorist acts.

  9. They COULD do a movie about the shephard who saved our Navy Seal a couple of days ago. That’s got it all.
Oh well, maybe Mel Gibson can handle it.

  10. Is there so little imagination in Hollywood that they couldn’t make up something better than this? How about he comes home to the loving arms of his mother who he finds in a home for battered women.
Oh, oh, I got it. Lets spin the tale of the first Neo Cons, say Poderetz (sp ?). A clever boy who is sent to all the right “learning centres” but who questions the orthodoxy. A bright young lad who who sees these “learning centres” as indoctrination. Who attacks this indoctrinatin with logic, reason and quotes from the Koran. As a result he is a disapointment to his family and ostrasized from his community. You know, show him as a hero for standing up to all the forces who just want him to be a “good” muslim. Show the romance of his being a nonconformist, an iconoclast. For the stock hollywood ending, he stops a terrorist attack from inside his community with a passionate plea for sanity, and saves his sister (who has always stood by him) from one of them there family shame type murders (I forget what they’re calling them nowadays).
Look, it took me ten minutes. And these schmuks are going to give this piece of crap a 6 figure gratuity! What the F***?

  11. Can’t wait for the red carpet at the Toronto premiere…Sasha Trudeau, Naomi Klein & Junior Lewis, Maher Arar, Mohammed Elmasry, and a special appearance from Howard Dean and his date for the evening, Michael Moore (why won’t Dean’s wife appear with him??? Hmmmm….)

  12. Kate
Why the hell are you putting THAT kid and a quote by the biggest bucket of crap since, well, “buckets”…in the same post?
I thought the dude ran around Afghanistan telling the CIA about where the terrorists lived. I don’t know that many Canadian kids that have ran around Osama’s backyard, ratting on Al Qauda.
If it’s true(I can’t see why not… I THINK I saw it on cbc…) my opinion is that he is not getting NEARLY enough ca$h.
I mean CMON! Do I have to start calling myself “Knight of Good Kahdr”?
I guess we will have to see if the movie SUCKS or not(I hope Moore is not directing).
p.s I REALLY hope Spielburg’s next movie is Good(i.e NOT a leftist ball of dung(I doubt it)).

  13. Knight, PLEASE tell me you wouldn’t actually pay real money to see this piece of crap?
Money talks, bullshit walks. If the new movie on K gets zero (or close to zero) attendance in Canada, it will go away. If this piece of $hit is made, and makes no $ in Canada, it will go away (at least from Canada).
Hollywood would promote having sex with your mother if they thought it would sell.
    SO DON’T BUY!

  14. I will NOT see that fetid glorification of evil. Just as I have not nor will ever see Mooreon’s FatAndWhite 911 Pounds sulfurous slander against the savior of the free world.
Hollywood can sit on it and spin like a top. They produce too much crap these days to deserve my money.
Looks like Al Qaeda already has nukes planted in America, ready for detonation. Had help from organized crime in smuggling in fissile materials, seems. May have enlisted the aid of former USSR special forces in locating nukes secreted in US locations by USSR during the Cold War. Here’s the URL for you to see the report for yourselves:
    http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45203
I wonder if those stinking mountain goats have also planted any nukes in Canada? Wonder what, if anything, PMPM knows of this? After all, he kept threat info wrt the TTC in T.O. from the people and did absolutely nothing except impose his personal SSM idealogy on the country.
    Now what?

  15. “Will the flick show Jean Cruton petitioning the Egyptian government to spring his daddy from jail?”
If memory serves me faithfully, I think it was the Pakistani gov’t’s gluteus maximi that M. Cretin eagerly kissed to have the scumbag’s daddy released.
Not that it matters too much which it was. Point is: M. Cretin seems to kiss a lot of evil ass, doesn’t he?

  16. We know where Khadr is. Let’s keep it that way. It’s the Khadr-wannabe’s that are underground we should be concerned about.
Somebody will watch Khadr, even if our butt-kissing Librano gubmint won’t. Let’s not forget that Hollywouldn’t made piles on Farenheit 911, desperately needs piles again, and so is looking to repeat what was a previously successful formula. So let it flop like the rest of the overpriced drivel they have tried offering us of late. Another 500k down a rathole. Looks good on them.
In the meantime, we need the Islamic communities in the west to full out inform on the cockroaches using them for cover.

  17. Dems embrace Hollywierd??? I recall how the Dems viciously attacked Reagan for being an actor and how his administration was surreal like a movey scape….this was done to a certain degree to Arinie the governator….had he run as a fed, I’m sure the Dems would be out there dissing Hollywood for its surreal polititcs.
We note 3 things about this revelation by the dems:
    1) they admire the profile a Hollywierd star give them for “retailing” a candidate.
    2) The envy eats them up daily they can’t win in that constituency…even in the surreal environs of Hollywierd republican celebs win: Reagan, Bono, Eastwood, Swartzenager.
    3) They chafe at the bit for the free publicity star power gives them but they see that unmanaged, free-lance lefty celbs are a PR disaster and get laughed at…. and the backlash from John Q. kills their sales potential…like the Dixie chicks or baldwin, hutton et al. They then learn that celebrity is a marketed commodity and that most of the customers are not left wing moonbats that they see in Hollywierd….pushing moonbat agendas impacts their income.
When all is said and done, the hollywierd celeb is nothing more than a personified sales gimmick that moves in the surreal world of fantasy marketing….obviously most of them think the real world works this way….the ones that keep their values and perspective ( the same one John Q Public has) are the only ones that can realted to him at his level…..and most of these join the republicans if they get political….they also separate their craft from their civil duty.

  18. Sleeper cell in Canada, terrorist claims
    nealenews.com
The concern in European security circles, Rudner said, is Moroccan extremists are being trained in terror tactics under the tutelage of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian-born head of al-Qaida in Iraq, and applying them when they return home to North Africa and Europe.
It follows, he said, that similar concerns exist in Canada, and particularly in Montreal, which plays host to a large North African community.
    “We’re a haven,” Rudner said.
The only al-Qaida cell confirmed to be operational in Canada was based in Montreal in the late 1990s. Its members, most of whom came from North Africa, included Ahmed Ressam, an Algerian, who was convicted in April 2001 of trying to smuggle explosives into the U.S. to blow up Los Angeles International Airport.
    >>>>>>>>>
    “We’re a haven,” … for terrorists.
    Suicide, Canada?

  19. RE: SEchappe’s “No doubt the presence and operations of terrorists is OK with Joe Canuck, just so long as the killing is done elsewhere (USA, Israel, Afganistan, India).”
    Ahem….
NOT OK with this Joe Canuck!! I use the moniker ‘Joe Canuck’, so please try not to denigrate the true Joe Canucks of this land.
All of these wacko fundamentalist extremist jerkoffs and their air-headed sympathizers can take a flying leap off the honey wagon into the holding pond, as far as I am concerned.
$500 thou to that piece of crap for his story??
That movie should end up in the same holding pond too.

  20. Y’know, there is almost a worthwhile story in all that. Cut out the fact that he’s a little snot and the feel good message, and make it about a young man in al Qaeda who comes to find his cause repugnant, but is caught up in the events in Afghanistan and ends up in Gitmo. At the end all he has is remorse while his own country moves on.
Of course, Hollywood won’t touch it until al Qaeda becomes the US Army, Afghanistan becomes ‘Nam or Iraq, and Gitmo becomes a POW campl
