“An unnatural and cozy relationship”

Guardian (PEI);

“What’s the one entity that hasn’t been investigated by our national police force? The recipient of the money, and the party that’s in power, that controlled the purse strings, that funneled the money back to themselves. Isn’t that a bit odd?” asked MacKay, the party’s critic for public safety and emergency preparedness.
“I find it very curious as a former Crown prosecutor when there’s overwhelming evidence that the responsible body, that was both the perpetrator and the recipient of the money, isn’t under investigation.”

The legitimacy of McKay’s concerns are enhanced when one learns that the RCMP ignored warnings within the department about their involvement with Adscam, long before it was blown open by the Auditor General.

“Fraser also reported the federal government paid three Quebec advertising agencies $244,380 in commissions to simply transfer $1.7 million from the Public Works sponsorship branch to the RCMP.
The RCMP’s commanding officer in Quebec questioned the large commissions paid to the advertising firms years before it became an explosive issue in Parliament.
Odilon Emond, an assistant RCMP commissioner and commanding officer of the RCMP’s C-division in Quebec, raised the concerns in 1998 but the RCMP did nothing after he questioned the deals.”

  1. When MacKay points out that the RCMP, have investigated practically everyone except for “the recipient of the money, and the party that’s in power that controlled the purse strings, that funnelled the money back to themselves”, he hits the nail on the head.
The Liberal response hits air in response: when asked WHY the Liberal party hasn’t been investigated, too, Scott Reid says “The very question is insulting”, (perhaps by being rhetorical in nature?) and that MacKays comments are disgraceful — “cheap, cheap, cheap” — and that he should apologize to “the women and men who don the uniform of the RCMP”.
Well, Reid is completely right that the rank and file are owed an apology, but it is the upper echelon of the RCMP who owes it to them. Because it is the upper echelon who have given the finger to their front line, and to all Canadians, by giving every appearance that the RCMP is in bed with the Liberals.
All MacKay has done, by stating the obvious, and asking the obvious questions, is the MSM’s job. Perhaps he owes them an apology too, for shining a klieg light on their sorry asses.
His suggestion that a retired Supreme Court judge should head the RCMP for a certain period of time is not just a good idea, it’s a requirement at this point. It’s about the only way to disentangle the Liberal Party of Canada, and it’s various interests, from our national police force. The RCMP must be reconfigured so as to be absolutely separate from partisan politics.

  2. “Fraser also reported the federal government paid three Quebec advertising agencies $244,380 in commissions to simply transfer $1.7 million from the Public Works sponsorship branch to the RCMP.
I don’t get how some ad-agencies acquire the ability to transfer somebody else’s money from one branch to another – or is the Public Works thing just a big slush-fund? This smells of a typically Soviet-style attempt to taint the RCMP, to tie it down Gulliver-like with many little strings. Which begs the question, what else has been done to incapacitate the RCMP, to turn it from a police-force to a Politburo member?

  3. Every time someone speaks up to prevent Libscamming of funds, one begins to see the value of Bill-C-11, the Whistle-Blower Protection act.
People who risk their necks and every Canadian will benefit with this bill. 73s TG

  4. There is no doubt in my mind that the RCMP has a problem of corruption and of conflict of interest. I need only look at all the evidence to come to such conclusions.
I think of the RCMP now as a sort of KGB gestapo force of the Supreme Overlord, Paulie himself.
BTW, Scott Reid is nothing but a hopeless liar for money. I wish he would come on SDA and try that sort of stuff on ME. I know I can put him in his place, back in his moonbat cave lair.

  5. You’re a tad feisty there today, young Stephen. I think Scott’s here posing as a dude called Don. Certainly his posts are full of enough Librano$ dung to convince me that’s who he really is. Better grab a couple of Mooseheads before you blow a gasket. We need you level-headed and inspirational.

  6. No problem, Iron Lady. Don’t mistake my occassionally strong words for a lack of levelheadedness. No Mooseheads tonite. Perhaps some tawny port on the wkend, though.
Think this “Don” gentleman is Scott Reid? I will look more closely. Haven’t yet.
I’ll deal with Mr. Don later. Hmm… shouldn’t Paul Martin be Mr. Don? It’d me most appropriate, methinks.
Thanks for thinking I’m young. Ironically, when I was much younger I was considered older. Not that I’m really so young, but I’m not quite so old that I can’t take my time with some big, big decisions. I’m the same age as the youngest Tory MPs.
And, Mr. Don, I’ll be happy to powwow with you… tomorrow.

  7. Stephen, that last bit there, I thought maybe you were going to launch into a Cat Stevens song (or whatever he’s calling himself these days). Paul Martin- the Teflon Don? Has a ring to it.

  8. Cat Stevens? Isn’t that the singing dude who thought it might for some reason (or none) be a good idea to go Islamo?
Teflon Don Martin. Sounds good. Let’s start using it.
Speaking of Dons, the Don dude seems a tad reluctant to engage me in intellectual combat. Probably afraid he’ll hurt me or something, he’d claim. But I suspect he knows he’s out of his element here. Don Newman (hell, maybe it’s HIM) isn’t here to claim to be keeping time as a ruse to shut me up just when I’m making my final move to put the moonbat out of its misery…
Hmm… kinda sounded like Don Newman, doesn’t he? Newman obviously knows Reid. No wonder Don won’t divulge his true identity…

  9. Stephen, a Don is the head of a mafia crime family. So Paul Martini is the Don. I said Teflon Don, because not even shit seems to stick to him in the eyes of the MSM. So, “Teflon” Don PMPM. Glad you’re taking on Scott Reid.

  10. Right. I know what a Don is. That’s why I used it to describe Paulie. The guy Don, however, claims not to be Scott Reid. I’ve started taking him apart already in the thread about Paulie’s business interests. Don, however, seems to have run away for the wkend. Says he’ll be back Monday.
I’ll do what I can then. Can’t do it while at work, though. After work, I’ll take care of this Chetienite.
Will be here during the wkend though.
    Cheers!

  11. I do remember. And as you’ll see on another post I just did, I do believe Don “don’t call me Scott Reid” is really WARREN KINSELLA!!!!!! Nobody in the real world admits to liking Cretin, do they? Except, perhaps, Tequila Sheila.
