This is refreshing. The US Congressman, Tom Tancredo – who sparked controversy last week when he was quoted widely, and mostly out of context, as suggesting that an WMD attack by Islamists on the US could prompt a nuclear response towards Muslim holy sites – isn’t backing down from the shrill mavens of political correctness..
“Many critics of my statements have characterized them as ‘offensive,’ and indeed they may have offended some,” writes Tancredo in a guest commentary in the Denver Post. “But in this battle against fundamentalist Islam, I am hardly preoccupied with political correctness, or who may or may not be offended. Indeed, al-Qaida cares little if the Western world is ‘offended’ by televised images of hostages beheaded in Iraq, subway bombings in London, train attacks in Madrid, or Americans jumping to their death from the Twin Towers as they collapsed.”
Tancredo, who in recent months has been an outspoken critic of immigration policies allowing illegal aliens to stream across U.S. borders, says few can argue the current approach to the war on terror has deterred fundamentalists from killing Westerners, adding so-called moderate Muslims and leaders of Muslim countries have done little to crack down on extremists.
“That being the case, perhaps the civilized world must intensify its approach,” Tancredo says. “Does that mean the United States should be retargeting its entire missile arsenal on Mecca today? Does it mean we ought to be sending Stealth bombers on runs over Medina? Clearly not.
“But should we take any option or target off the table, regardless of the circumstances? Absolutely not, particularly if the mere discussion of an option or target may dissuade a fundamentalist Muslim extremist from strapping on a bomb-filled backpack, or if it might encourage ‘moderate’ Muslims to do a better job cracking down on extremism in their ranks.”
Of course, in Canada, the shrill maven in charge of national security takes a sophisticated, nuanced and culturally senstive approach – she listens, while the Imams do the tough talking. Globe & Mail;
“If you try to cross the line I can’t guarantee what is going to happen. Our young people, we can’t control,” Aly Hindy, the head of Scarborough’s Salaheddin Islamic Centre, recalls telling the minister at the May meeting she held in Toronto with dozens of Muslim leaders.
The meeting was part of an effort by Ms. McLellan to reach out to Canadian Muslims amid complaints that the RCMP and Canadian Security Intelligence Service are engaging in racial profiling.
The minister and her officials have been meeting community leaders to explain they are not targeting Muslims generally, only individuals with possible terrorist links.
[…]
He made the point to the minister. Several people who attended shrugged off the imam’s remarks, but some Muslims and government agents later approached Mr. Hindy asking him to explain himself.
“The police came to me and said, ‘This is a kind of threat,’ and I said yes,” he said. “But it’s for the good of this country.
“And they said, ‘Do you know some of the names of those people you expect to cause some problems?’ And I said, ‘You just open the telephone directory.’ ”
While government investigators probing the woman’s complaint told Mr. Hindy they have not found evidence of wrongdoing, he isn’t giving the spy service the benefit of the doubt.
“We believe CSIS should stop terrorizing us,” he says in a flyer he is circulating to mosques. “CSIS is powerless. CSIS has no authority over you. If CSIS agents come to your door, do not open [it] for them.”
Toronto’s Coalition of Muslim Organizations arranged the meeting, and said about 100 Muslim leaders attended. While COMO president Adam Esse noted that, “some people, when they talk, they get a little heated,” he said the ministerial visit was “a sign of respect” and was worthwhile overall. “If you talk, you remove a lot of misconceptions, a lot of misunderstandings.”
A spokesman for Ms. McLellan agreed. “We feel it was constructive, positive,” Alex Swann said.
Even Mr. Hindy said that despite his differences with security agencies “the Deputy Prime Minister, she was very understanding.”
Group hug, everyone.
Damn you beat me to this scoop Kate. My last post was on the mixed messages Canadians are getting from Muslim leaders….now we see this hot head threaten the feds…can you imagine the MSM nattering class going into rapture denouncing a Bishop for saying this to the feds over the enforcement of the sodomy gag laws.
When you consider how many billions are being thrown down the toilet since 9/11 and subsequently, on the increased vigilance required in securing our airports, our subways, our borders, our nuclear generation facilities etc etc from potential muslim extremists attacks…surely; if there is another attack in the US of a mini-nuke or dirty bomb proportion for example; surely it would be cheaper and more secure to simply round ’em all and mass deport all of them.
The enemy IS among us and uses the EVERY ‘democratic’ societal priniciple as a weapon against innocent citizens. We cannot infiltrate/integrate them culturally so this threat that lives in our laps must be eliminated.
The Charter of rights and freedoms is a laughably naive ‘free pass’ for the most dangerous, extremist murderers and killers on the planet today.
How many more innocent lives must be taken before something is done…definitively.
One more attack in the US and the gloves will definitely come fully off and all bets are off…globally.
“Don’t open your door to CSIS’–games are being played here–the Security Act says you don’t have to ‘open your door’–CSIS has the right to enter without a warrant or anything else, whether you open your door or not!
This is nothing more than PC and multiculturalism at its worst–and McLellan is an expert at this game of oneupmanship–‘reaching out’–what a Liberal statement–they can’t see criminals staring them in the face. All Muslims are not ‘terrorists’ but all Liberals are criminal coddlers. And, as usual, we, the citizen, will pay the price.
I’ve said it before and I’ll no doubt say it again: Tom Tancredo for President!
There are two words Muslims hate: “Pork” is one; the other is “Mohammedanism”, as used by Churchill.
How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!
Where are you, PM Adscam Martin? What are your views?
Your number one job is the security of Canada.
How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!
>>>>>>>>>>>>
LGF reader Allon emailed to point out that the London Times article we noted earlier today neuters the full force of Sir Winstons message; political correctness strikes again. Heres what Churchill really wrote in its entirety, after the horrific battle to wrest control of Sudan from the jihadis of the 19th century:
Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities – but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.
Sir Winston Churchill, from The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50 (London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899).

Aly Hindy: His last name is presumably from al-Hind, the Arabic name for the Indian sub-continent. This indicates his family’s likely origin as Muslims from the region. How did the Muslims come to be there? By conquest.
Sind (in the western part, on the Arabian Sea, now a province of Pakistan) was conquered by the Arabs in the early 8th century.
‘In the first half of the 10th century a Muslim ruler of Afghanistan invaded the Punjab 11 times, without much political success, but taking away a great deal of loot.
A more successful invasion came at the end of the 12th century. This eventually led to the formation of the Delhi Sultanate.
A later Muslim invasion in 1398 devastated the city of Delhi.
The Mughal Empire grew out of descendants of the Mongol Empire who were living in Turkestan in the 15th century…
Babur the first Mughal Emperor, was a descendent of Genghis Khan and Tamerlaine…
Babur moved into Afghanistan in 1504, and then moved on to India, apparently at the invitation of some Indian princes who wanted to dispose of their ruler. Babur disposed of the ruler, and decided to take over himself.
He captured the Turkic Ghuriat Sultanate of Delhi in 1526, imposing his rule on most of Northern India.’

Dr Hindy is Imam at the Salaheddin Islamic Centre in Scarborough.
“Salaheddin” is another spelling of Saladin.
‘Salaheddin Al-Ayyubi is perhaps the most famous of all medieval Muslim rulers. Renowned as a victorious general, he is a popular figure throughout the Arab world even today. He is the hero of the Muslim Counter-Crusades, which defeated the Frankish enemies of Islam and reconquered Jerusalem.’
So Saladin was a warrior, albeit one with an historical reputation (in the west too) as chivalrous.
So let us establish in the Greater Toronto Area a “Church of Richard the Lion-Heart”.

Personally, I think I’m starting to come around to the CBC way of thinking. It’s about positive liberal spin. For example, if, in 1940, we had more people like Paul Martin and “Screechin’ Annie” in charge, my ability, today, to speak German would be a lot better

Maybe the NEXT time some blood thirsty tyrant tells the Americans he doesn’t have any frikkin’ weapons of mass destruction, they’ll believe him!! Huh? I’ll bet they feel stupid now!! So then why am I the one sitting in this stinking jail cell? Life just isn’t fair sometimes. Just ask O.J. and Martha.

Rob – only if you are a blue eyed blonde!!! Actually that was a very good articulation of the problem.
What’s that I hear? The sound of bags being packed? The disenchanted Muslims who have found Western society so to their distaste that they believe it needs to be destroyed are busily packing up to leave? Is that the sound of aircraft whisking them away from the evil West and into the Islamic paradise of the Middle East?
Treasonous words uttered my imams on our own soil should result in expulsion. They are still free to speak. But there are consequences.
Don’t the socialists get it?
The greatest threat to the safety and security of Canada, is our own government, (and what they are prepared to do to stay in power!) Period!
Captains Quarters is shedding light on a conviction (in India) of a terrorist named Afroze. Apparently, he is convicted of plotting attacks on India, Australia and the U.K. Uh, on September 11th, 2001. Does any one have any comments on that or links to more information?
Why, when I come here do I always feel that I’ve just made a pilgrimage to the “David Koresh Dude Ranch?”

MASS DEPORTATION IS THE ANSWER!…sooner or later
CBS radio considers it “too controversial” to accept advertising for a symposium on Islamic terrorism.
http://www.enterstageright.com/archive/articles/0705/0705cbs.htm
…his organization is sponsoring a symposium titled, The Radical Islamic Threat to World Peace and National Security. Given the events of the past two weeks in London this seems like a timely and necessary educational opportunity. At least one would think so.
[..]
It would appear that he had been in talks with a local radio station in New England – a CBS/Infinity Radio affiliate – to run some commercials publicizing the upcoming event. At first everything was wonderful. The local sales manager even complimented Jeff on how professional the recordings were. A sales schedule (agreement) was sent to Jeff for his approval and the commercials appeared set to run.
One day later, Jeff received a phone call from the sales manager saying that his station would not be running the ads for the symposium and that their agreement would not be honored. When the sales manager was pressed for a reason he said that the Legal Department at CBS/Infinity Radio had instructed him not to run the ads stating, “Too many people might be emotionally affected by the subject matter…It’s too controversial to be aired at this time.”
Is this the same “Don” from last week? Is that you, “Don”?
“One more attack in the US and the gloves will definitely come fully off and all bets are off…globally.”
You’re not kidding. This medieval scum lost two countries and two bases of operation when they made the mistake of attacking the US on 9-11. Next time it will be a horrendous response from America, with Britain by its side.
I wonder if Canada will stand up and be counted this time? I read today in the National Post that Canadians now support the U.S. In Iraq. According to a new Gallup poll 59% of Canadians say Iraqis are better off today. I wonder if previous polls said the same but weren’t reported, or were fudged.
I also wonder if, because of this poll, the Liberals will reverse their stand on Iraq? After all, it’s all about votes and money isn’t it? The backers of the Liberal Party have already lost their deals with Hussein’s oil contracts as well as the Oil for Food program and so would be looking for new deals in the new Iraq. It would be a prudent move by the Liberals on both counts — votes AND money.
Either this Don guy doesn’t know squat about David Koresh or he doesn’t know squat about us or both.
For those young men who do not yet see the full picture and want to do great public damage for their one sided understanding, there should be a disincentive.
If a young fellow is discovered plotting to blow up innocent people in Canada, there must be an understanding that not only will he be incarcerated for life, but all his family and realatives will be returned to the country of origin.
Do I hear protest screams of *unfair*, *extreme*, *outrageous*?
The family and realatives provide the one sided teaching envvironment that leads our young man to consider terrorist acts. If they risk deportation, that is an incentive for them to suggest tolerance rather than hate to our impressionable young man. Nest pas?
Also, if the easily led young fellow does play with thoughts of terror bombing, he knows that the 72 vergins waiting for him in heaven will not be easily reached.
He will somehow have to survive his whole enraged family who didn’t last long after return to the homeland.
There has to be a severe downside to those who study bomb making and one way passenger jet flight. Any ideas? 73s TG
After an explosion somewhere, we hear all these Muslims saying that this is terrible, etc. etc. But until they begin turning over these malcontents to the authorities, it appears to be all talk & no action. They simply mouth words which are insincere and lies. If they do not want the police or CSIS to target their young people, then maybe they should actually obey “our” laws of our land and common decency. I was & still am sickened & dsigusted when I remember hearing how the Muslims actually cheered when 9/11 occurred. They come to our country & partake of our good living, then want to kill us & our friends. Please return to your own country, so you can live your life the way you wish.
It’s an idea worth discussing, at the very least. I believe it was Tancredo who suggested that just talking about certain kinds of retaliation could itself be a deterrent. The Libs always leak trial balloons to gauge public reaction or instill hope or fear. It’s fighting fire with fire: manipulate the young Islamists’ minds just as their families and Imams did.
The current leftist strategy of giving in to the Muslim community’s demands to be left alone and not bothered for any reason at all is only going to make the murderers’ jobs much easier in that authorities will be afraid to apprehend suspected terrorists because of possible allegations of anti-Muslim bias. Remember, while most Muslims are not terrorists, it IS true that most terrorists right now are Muslims. I dare any lefty to prove otherwise.
Therefore, if the authorities don’t at least keep an eye on suspected terrorists who happen to be Muslim, then they’ll have the run of the country.
And I believe Kate was being sarcastic in the “Group hug, everyone” line, referring to McLellan’s warm and fuzzy words like “constructive” and “positive” and so on wrt the meeting with the Muslim dude who basically issued a terror threat. He obviously implied that if Canada goes after terrorists who are Muslims, there’d be terrorism here. What other way is there to interpret it?
Difficult to have a debate when some gutless wonder hijacks my handle and makes a post under my name. “MASS DEPORTATION IS THE ONLY ANSWER” This kind of craven activity endorsed on here?
Shocking. Simply shocking. Where on Earth do these imams get the notion that they can boss around our public officials? Of course, should we actually start to deal with these public menaces (the hate-spewing imam types, of course), every lunatic left-wing organization will be screaming “fascism”! These are truly fascinating times.
/sarcasm
Why India? Kashmir aside, South Asian and Afghan Jihadis long for the re-creation of the Moghul Caliphate (1526-1857, capital Delhi) to encompass at least all of northern India, plus current Pakistan and Bangladesh.

“Don” says:
“Difficult to have a debate when some gutless wonder hijacks my handle and makes a post under my name. “MASS DEPORTATION IS THE ONLY ANSWER” This kind of craven activity endorsed on here?”
Oh, come on, Don, do you really expect us to fall for this? Typical Kinsella diversionary tactic. I see right through it. So, DO you endorse that kind of craven activity, yes or no? We’re waiting…
Well, Don?
This is probably the second time I’ve really disagreed with something written in this blog. Nuke Mecca? Don, its probably the only thing we agree on, but that’s plain stupid. Just think about how hatred towards America has been inflamed by media playing up any rumour, and the few actual cases, of abuse they get wind of from Guantanamo.
You’re suggesting that we should do something way beyond comparable to the worst things that may have been done there – to beastly terrorists who may have important information – and do it to anyone who happens to be in Mecca, simply because the terrorists claim to be that cities “holy” envoys?
Talk about giving the ultimate boost to the claims of the jihadists. Talk about doing your best to destroy any Muslim opposition to them – the kind of opposition that, in the long term, could be our best ally to halt Islamic terrorism. Unless you intend to annihilate the entire Mulslim population of the world.
My God Kate, just because something is “politically incorrect” doesn’t mean it must be right.
“Don” should be ashamed of himself.
Don is Scott Reid or Warren Kinsella, isn’t he? What’s he doing here? Is he a Saddam-sympathiser? How many fish didya catch Don/Scott/Warren? Did you finsish Johnson’s book on Stephen Harper? Know what integrity means now, Don/Scott/Warren?
I will not wear a bhurka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robbie… Al Qaida has signalled that they intend to kill as many as they can, using whatever weapons they can, and that they’re more than eager to collect their virgins in doing so.
How do you instill a death cult with “sober second thought” other than to put on the table something more important to them than their own martyrdom?
That’s what the congressman was talking about, and sending a signal to one’s enemies that you will not fight to their death is a dangerous, dangerous message to send.
If there is another attack of any sort on American soil, I wonder what Canada would do.
Liberal Canada seems to be pretty timid. The only thing liberal Canada seems certain of is disapproval of the US for a decidedly un-nuanced view of terrorism and an unhealthy preoccupation with sending terrorists to Allah.
One thing you can be certain of. Anything that terrorists managed to pull off on our soil will be met with a significant ratcheting up and implementation of violence against them.
Maybe it would help to think about the fact that since WWII America has been in wars with Korea, VietNam, a couple of times in the Mid East and in a huge number of police actions here and there around the world.
There are literally millions of Americans alive today who have actually, in fact, killed people. Through bombs, machine guns, mines, bullets, knives, trenching tools, and hand-to-hand combat. Some Americans have killed many people, and there are millions of us alive interspersed throughout the United States.
My advice to the enemy is that you better get your mind right, because we are a very, very bad country to turn into an enemy. We can and will wipe you out.
Are you listening, Monaco?
“Don”, be it Scott or Warren or whichever else Librano, seems to have forfeited.
“…full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
See, folks, when the playing field is levelled, the Libs lose and lose big!
Pathetic, are they not?
Madam Thatcher (Iron Lady, right?), Liberals don’t even know the meaning of the word “integrity”. It’s a foreign term for them, like the word “is” is for Slick Willy, good old pal of Boolinda the Billionaire Barbie Doll.
Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, I owe; it’s off to work I go…
MASS DEPORTATION IS THE ANSWER!…sooner or later

Because, Don, you are delusional, just like the rest of the lib party. They THINK they have fooled the country into believing that they are a legitimate party with authority to govern. They fake polls to make us think they are riding high in popularity and that we agree with what we have seen them do with our very eyes. What is most worrying is what they are doing that we DON’T see. When we hear from Sheila Fraser again I am sure it will be just as enlightening as her previous forays into what the libs do when we are not looking.
In over ten years they have done absolutely nothing of benefit for this country and it now deteiorates before our very eyes in every aspect. Our tax dollars having been squandered on making sure they stay in power and padding the pockets of their friends.
The liberal party of Canada is no friend to Canadians. They have stolen from us, lied to us and perpetrated fraud against us.
Your snide, condescending and sanctimonious remarks do absolutely nothing to dispel those truths and does not enhance your own image in our eyes. But it does do one thing: Makes very clear that absolutely no one can defend this liberal mess of a party in any way for there is no defense of it or for it. It just needs to go away.
Therefore, I am sure you must feel frustrated in your loyalty and attempts to justify what is totally unjustifiable. More to be pitied than ridiculed as you try to ridicule us.
The truth, always , eventually, will out, Don.
Even with the CBC and the Globe and Mail leading the charge of trying to make us forget and revise history, the truth will out.
And while the libs were at it, made Canada into a bunch of cowards who refused to fight with their friends but expected their friends to protect them anyway!
Eat frozen rabbit marbles Don Liberano !
Well said Snowbunnie!
And IF the US is attacked again, Canada had better be in the right corner is all I can say.
Or we will wish we had never been born.
I’m all for killing terrorists Kate, and wholeheartedly support the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, but to bomb Mecca doesn’t just kill terrorists. You’d never know it from the shrill anti-war critiques from the left but the Americans are doing an amazing job of avoiding collateral damage. Thats important – they seem to have gotten ordinary Iraqis on their side.
With terrorists attacking normal Iraqis, and countries like Egypt, they will turn ordinary Muslims against them. Bombing Mecca in retaliation to another attack would reverse that.
btw, great job on reporting about the trucker union strike – I can’t beleive I haven’t heard about it anywhere else so far.
