Chinese Bid For CPShips

Now that the attempt to grab Unocal is dead, the Chinese are setting sights elsewhere…. China E-Lobby;

….no piece of legislation actually passed, no action was actually taken by the Administration. A few hearings in Congress, a bunch of editorials, and some blogs (OK, perhaps that’s just an ego-stroking stretch) managed to scare of the Communists. That’s how hypersensitive the Communists are right now. Rather than risk a political tangle that could last long enough for the anti-Communist right and the anti-Communist left to form a lasting alliance – and that is the one thing in the American political arena that scares Zhongnanhai more than anything else – they will pull back and let everything die down.
Now we can see how well pressure works in Canada, where the Communist-owned China Shipping Group is going after CP Limited Ships. Like Unocal, CP has other bidders, including France’s CMA CGM. As observers of Canadian politics (and nearly all Canadian readers of this blog) know, Canada’s government is more malleable to the Communists than America’s. However, the opposition in the Great White North has quietly become the most anti-Communist party in the democratic world. With enough pressure from either side of the 49th parallel, Communist China will face a choice. Do they go ahead and had the opposition an issue (selling off of Canadian firms to a hostile foreign power) that could very well do what nothing else seems to have done: namely, get them elected to government? Or do we back off, save our buddies in Ottawa the headache, and try again when no one is watching?

  1. Perhaps this is time to remind you revenue slaves out there that this government is giving 1 million dollars a week in “aid” to China…..the world’s 15th largest economy is giving “aid” and is poised to give billions more in Carbon tax payments to the world’s 3rd largest, and fastest expanding economy.
Is this an act of either maniacal condescension or ineptitude of cosmic proportions…..or probably typical inebriate Liberal largess
I want every Canadian waiting in a cue to see a doctor or have a surgery to remember this tiny gem of info.

  2. “an act of either maniacal condescension or ineptitude of cosmic proportions…..or probably typical inebriate Liberal largess”
    Ineptitude of cosmic proportions!!!

  3. Sixty Million a year in “aid”. How many CP ships can Sixty Million
    buy?
We are governed by total F@#$%^&g lunar idiots!
Enabled by Canadian comotose / somnolent lap dog MSM.

  4. The Librano$ could be giving an extra $1M/wk to the Canadian Forces rather than to, effectively, the Chinese Communists’ grunts. Why in the hell do these Librano$ think the Chinese need our money handed out just like that? Don’t the Commies have enough? Surely yes, as they can afford to have an ever-ballooning military whereas we’ve a deflating balloon in comparison.
I’m afraid that if the New Evil Empire for the 21st Century does buy up CP Ships and perhaps PetroCan, ExxonMobil/Esso, etc. the MSM will downplay the whole thing and the obedient masses will not care a whit and continue to send Librano crooks to Ottawa, particularly from Ontario.
After all, we must realize just how powerful those bastards are. They’ve been getting away with pretty much everything so far, haven’t they? And against all logic and all odds. Nevertheless, the political revolution is continuing to gather momentum and will soon enough knock those gangsters on their arses right outside of the tavern of power.

  5. BTW, the more people that smoke tons of pot, fornicate with dozens of unfamiliar weird people, march naked in parades in knee-high black socks and sandals screeching vulgarities against the good conservative people of Canada all the damn time as if there’s nothing else in life worth taking care of or paying attention to, the more people will not realize that the Librano$ are giving millions of our hard-earned tax dollars away to the New Evil Empire of China who continues to buy up our resource and cargo transport industries and thus continue to vote for those bloody Librano bastards!
Hope that wasn’t too hard to understand for anyone to whom the above applies.

  6. All those years of shrieking about American ownership, but nary a peep about ownership by Communist China. The (economic)invasion of Canada – piece by piece. Librano$ are bringing down a fall budget in the hopes of being defeated so they can go to the electorate before the full impact of Gomery can be felt. Canadians are napping and won’t know or care about any of this. Sigh…

  7. I don’t think we’re being governed by idiots, Joe, I think we’re being governed by some very clever shysters. That’s one of the reason’s why I don’t think people who wear dissonant socks are necessarily a big part of the problem.
I don’t think we common people are the big problem. Everywhere you go, most ordinary people just want something like life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness; peace, order, and good government.
Meanwhile, there are also everywhere those who will proudly stand on the graves of history solely to advance their greed and avarice. They are the enemy.

  8. “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness; peace, order, and good government.”
Unfortunately, Tony, those are American values, not Canadian values. Canadian values are whatever the fecking Martin Librano Mob declares they are, apparently, including “greed and avarice”. It’s looking more and more like we’d be better off as an American colony than what we’re becoming under those banana dictators who call themselves “Liberals”.
Now more than ever we need to throw the bums out!

  9. No, Stephen, that will not stand. The stuff before the semi-colon was US, the stuff after was Canadian.
Anyway, I was talking about people everywhere, I just used formalisms from the USA and Canada. The French formalism is Libery, Fraternity, and Equality or something like that (sorry, I don’t do French).
I understand your point, but it is unfair to say that the values of the greedy are the values of Canadians, or of the average citizen of any state jurisdiction. Recall that mis-identifying the enemy is less than optimal.

  10. Do you guys really think Canada is stupid for giving China $1million per week? If you really want to talk “stupid” have a look at Alberta. They give those creeps in Ottawa $1million per hour, 24/7 …… for all 365 days of the damned year.

  11. Good point fellow BCer.
Funds to China and others usually have strings attached.
My suspicious mind wonders. What percentage of China bound loot funnels back into Libscammer coffers and then what is the cut given to Bombadiere. No doubt China has to buy our coal with some of the money.
Libranos past patterns make this entirely plausable. I simply raise the question while our ace researchers may well validate it, sooner or later. 73s TG

  12. Well, Tony (not Guitar; the big-word one), if “good government” is a Canadian value, then how come the people keep returning a bad gov’t to power? Try to detect the obvious sarcasm when I say surprising stuff like that.
Besides, you didn’t catch my sarcasm wrt Cdn. values being whatever the Libs declare. You realize, of course, the Libs always try to make Cdns think the Libs represent Cdn values, don’t you?

  13. ‘Chinal buying our coal’–and don’t forget whose ships will be hauling that coal!
I imagine this is another ‘Canadian value’ that the Liberals will promote–it is good when the PM of Canada can make bundles of money that he stores off shore and pays no taxes on, while using his position as PM to forge business ties with a rogue nation? If it is good for the trough feeders and bottom feeders of Canada it must be good for all Canadians, right? A great Canadian value. Just like sending our military to Afghanistan to be used as target practice?

  14. Do we have a clear idea why a large economy like China with an new fascist-capitalist expanding economy, would be buying up large production mineral ops in Canada ( Noranda/Falconbridge) that our and the US rely on for the manufacture of macro and micro level electronic components…and militray grade armor??
If I were a Japanese or Korean electronics industrialist I would be as worried as the US is about these Chi-com Canadian mining acquisitions.
It is vital to remember the Chinese are now fascist in operative economic planning and do NOT play by the rules of the global freemarket capt…they respect no patent, intellectual/private property rights or trade barrier against unfair trade practice. The drive is to get as much foreign currency in their control ( through sales revenue) then start applying economic hoslility towards the free world….it’s a game of economic global domination and the wealth will not be in the hands of millions of private, individual Chinese entrepreneurs but the state bank and government of fascist( nationalist socialism) China.
Are they buying these mining interests with Canadian funding? Loan guarantees from the BoC? Kyoto carbon credit transfers? Moe Strong helped facilitate many Chinese-Canadian “investment?” deals and is heavily invested in China’s new economic expansion…so is Powercor and no doubt PM the PM himself. With these insider-profitters at the helm, you have to seriously entertain the idea that the Canadian Taxpayer is subsidizing their personal international trade brokerage.
This liberal regime is the most destructive, dangerous lot of carpetbaggers we have ever suffered under.

  15. People, people – follow the arrows. POWER Corp – Maurice Strong – set up CIDA (in Quebec)who gives money, Chretien (daughter married a Desmarais) leads trade missions to support Power investments in China as well as SNC Lavelin (design build for atomic energy – nuke plants in China – Martin given ship line by Power supports china handouts.

  16. Good, informative post, Mike W. Martin is just the cartoon picture of the ‘face of Canada’. This country has sunk so deeply in the mud of corruption, elitism, servitude by fools (us, the citizens), that many cannot ‘follow the arrows’ because they do not know the meaning of comprehension. Serious dumbing down of the population has left our country deviod of writters and thinkers and ‘arrow followers’. People like yourself find themselves explaining (even to those who will listin) the ‘drift’ of your logic. Our MSM has become, not only a part of this ignorance, but as ‘dumbed down’ as the audiece they ‘preach to’. The MSM is a creature of the elitist machine that runs the anti people propaganda. Instead of encouraging people to think for themselves, the elite offer to think for all and the lazy liberal product of our education system just says “yeh, O.K.”

  17. Redux, you are on my wavelength today.
Do I have an idea why China is buying up basic building blocks in Canada and elswhere today?
Simple. China is building and gathering world power.
I know and admire Canadians of China’s heritage. Chinese nature is polite, hard-working, steady and reliable. There is so seldom a mention of a Wong or a Leyoung on the police scanner, it makes you stop and think.
No, my beef is with the leadership of China who seem to have developed a yuppy, tight-ass grasping nature.
Raw, unfettered ambition can be ugly and an recent example is Belinda’s scramble to power.
Allowing the cookie cutter production of Patented and trade marked products and software is very much international shop lifting. Not nice. Not right.
China has gained momentum and is moving at quite a clip, however there are many basic infrastructure items that need attention. Better slow down.
At this rate, China will rue the day it didn’t stick to its traditons of quality, especially in the area of pollution.
You. Yes you, who are driving a shiny new Nissan, Kia or Toyota product. Have you never noticed how many of those offshore cars are rusted out when you park at the mall? Many are half as old as my jeep.
Why not switch back to a GM product. They are an excellent value now.
My 1987 Jeep Wagoneer looks as good or better than Jeeps today. It’s tough as a bullet, you can sleep in it and it will go anywhere.
My next purchase will be a white Caddy for weekend or occaisional use. What bargains they are.
When you buy North American, you keep us all working. You enhance our economy and most importantly, you limit the transfer of power between us and Aisia.
By the way. I am no longer going to buy those rubber *made in China* shoes.
They make my feet sweat and now my left foot has swelling. I have gone back to good old leather.
I just got a pair of beautiful, almost new $149 Florsheim loafers at the Sally Ann for $4.50. What a deal!
Yes, China is heating up because, in part, we are disloyal to our own excellent North American workers.
Buy Canadian and buy American. It’s been fun. We certainly helped China and Aisia advance twoards *the good life*, but now is the time to get back home and support the local guys who have shaped up. 73s TG
