Peter Worthington throws a pail of cold seawater on those still basking in the glow of feel good;
Fresh in memories is Prime Minister Paul Martin initially pledging $1 million for tsunami relief, then $8 million, then promising to match the $40 million Canadians donated, and finally upping the total to $425 million.
Where is that money today? It’s anyone’s guess. The government gave it to CIDA to distribute, with no check on how it was to be spent. CIDA apparently funneled it to various non-government aid groups, also with no accounting of how it would be spent.
No surprizes there…corrupt the core.
Betcha the container of guns got through with no problems…
What are the odds that some of the CIDA money found it’s way into the hands of the Tamil Tigers. Would that make Canada complicit in the assassination/
And don’t forget . . CIDA HQ is in Montreal and is stuffed to the rafters with Liberano party bagmen, hookers, thieves & pimps.
Now can you guess where the money went.
Fred: CIDA HQ are in Gatineau, across the river from Ottawa.

Which is not to say that Quebec entities may not get a disproportionate share of CIDA’s money.

I guess it’s not like the CIDA hasn’t been through this before(1994), nothing to see here, including your money, move along now…
“Now more than ever CIDA needs the Aid Effectiveness Advisory Committee that it asked for in 1994 to manage CIDA budget cuts. If she is planning to give her senior officials the tools they need to ensure accountability at CIDA, why did she refuse to establish this committee?”

Wonder if he’s got tapes… 😉
…and Paul Martin doesn’t care; the Liberal Party doesn’t care; the MSM doesn’t care; even Svend Robinson hasn’t said a damn word; the left as a whole couldn’t care less!
Seems only we conservative people care.
Is there any wonder why I consistently express such disdain of the left?
Martin has been mentioned; AdScam Paul Martin, former Finance minister for Jeancula Chretien. These Libranos take credit for the slaying of the deficit dragon/monster; those cuts created the near-death state of the medical system in Canada.

Health system facing ‘perfect storm,’ says CMA
CTV.ca News Staff
A shortage of medical professionals, chronically long waiting lists and a landmark court decision have combined to create the perfect storm in Canada’s health-care system, say top officials of the Canadian Medical Association.
“Right now, things in medicine in Canada are not particularly rosy,” said Dr. Albert Schumacher, the association’s out-going president.
“We’re confronted with very significant wait times which, in some instances, are unfortunately increasing every day . . . for core procedures — hips, knees, hearts, cataracts.”
An even bigger issue from the profession’s standpoint, for both the short and long term, is the shortage of health-care professionals — the main reason behind the long wait lists, Schumacher said.
“We need to move our country to a goal of self-sufficiency in the supply of doctors, nurses and other health-care professionals. We’ve been too long plundering from other countries that can ill-afford to lose people.”
The system is struggling to recover from deficit cuts by governments in the 1990s.
Sorry to go OT but while wacthing the track and field world championships last night (yes, on CBC, but it’s the only time I watch) last night I saw their promo to air Bowling for Columbine on–get this–September 11th.
So I emailed CBC:
“Last night I saw the promotion of your plans to air ‘Bowling for Columbine’ on CBC television September 11th.
Aside from the fact that this thoroughly demonstrates immaturity and pettiness, I want to tell you that I have contacted National Public Radio in the U.S. to convince them that on the anniversary of the Air India bombing (June 22) they should present a reading of Will Ferguson’s book ‘Why I Hate Canadians.’
Needless to say, they don’t feel that it would be appropriate or interesting enough for that matter.
But since CBC obviously believes that pettiness and immaturity are criteria for programming decisions, feel free to take this idea and use it.
Better yet, maybe we can organize a ‘Hate Canada Day’ on August 19, the anniversary of the failed Dieppe Raid.”
CBC Celebrates Death to America
Not wanting to sound like a conspiracy buff but isn’t CIDA Moe Strong’s baby?…how were Zenon sales after the PM’s improptu promotional spot?
Seriously folks, it’s time to start boiling the tar and selecting a sturdy rail that can hold the weight of quite a few international trough hogs.
Throw/lockout the bums; throw away the key.
Canadian taxpayers deserve to have done with this billion dollar boondoggle.
Down with the CBC; out with Mansbridge & the rest of the Librano$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ puppets. Madame Jean will not have a nest to flatulate in (is that a dangling participle?).

Lockout looms
Edmonton Sun – 13 Aug 2005
TORONTO — Unless there is a significant turnaround in negotiations by tomorrow night, CBC will start locking out its employees Monday morning. The network served notice Thursday at 9 pm that it intends to …[self-destruct]
Hey Doug; there’s no venal partisan fabrication in Will Ferguson’s book…not fair comparing it to a Moore “documentary?”.
Better to have the US networks rerun the Gomery inquest on Canada day…then again they wouldn’t risk killing 1/2 their population with boredom or irrelevancy poisoning.
Better yet,run “the motorcycle diaries” on PET’s birthday and Alexandru Solomon’s “Great Communist Bank Robbery” on the anniversary of his demise.
Worthington mentioned a useful approach – instead of donating through the big agencies (which, even when they are well meaning, may have their hands tied by corrupt officials in the recipient nations), get your money directly into the hands of someone on the ground who can use it to buy what they really need. Get a receipt if you can, keep your tax dollars out of government hands, and keep on donating where it’s really needed. There’s no excuse for the corruption we’ve seen lately in Ottawa, but there are ways to reduce the temptations for the weak.
Sylvain Diamond to the rescue; CIDA accepts English language submissions. Dare someone to submit a proposal & report back to SDA.>>>

One can’t help but dream about the day (hopefully within my lifetime) that a newly- elected staunch Conservative Prime Minister rises in the House and declares, “Mr. Speaker, the Liberal gravy train has been derailed. The RCMP will begin laying charges this afternoon. If any of the honorable members sitting across the isle from me cannot afford legal counsel, legal aid will be provided from cost savings as a result of the locks being changed on all CBC buildings Canada wide as I speak……”
ZZZZZ…..wake up Nanook, it’s all but a dream!
*sigh*
But it’s a beautiful dream…
Wonder how many millions CIDA is now shovelling into ‘advertising agencies’ in Quebec!
(Not to mention ‘consultants’, ‘advisors’, and of course, our Senate boondogglers. (But this only represents tens of millions of dollars- where the hell is the rest of it going?)
“Where is that money today?”

Canada needs a counterpart to the US General Accounting Office. And a stop to government subsidies of media. Truly the state of the Canadian government disgusts me as a free citizen of this world.
