Tony Blair’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch and Mr. Policeman is your friend;

Two years ago, the City of London police attracted criticism when it emerged more than 20 officers, ranging from constable to chief superintendent, had accepted gifts worth thousands of pounds from the Church of Scientology.
The City of London chief superintendent, Kevin Hurley, praised Scientology for “raising the spiritual wealth of society” during the opening of its headquarters in 2006.

  1. Interesting that they were considering prosecuting some kid for calling Scientology a cult. Any policeman caught taking bribes should be sacked on the spot. same with politicians, but if they did that there wouldn’t be too many left!

  2. Doug, whether Ken or now Boris Johson, the Mayor of London runs the Greater London Authority, which has jurisdiction everywhere in greater London EXCEPT in the City of London, the ancient square mile inside where the old Roman walls used to be, which is now mainly the financial district (saying “the City” in the UK is like saying “Wall Street” in the US). The Metropolitan Police (“the Met”) answer to the Mayor. The City of London Police are seperate from the Met and report to the Lord Mayor of the City of London. As much of a douchebag as Ken Livingstone is, this actually can’t be blamed on him.

  3. The reason New scotland yard is so named is because at the turn of the last century. Scotland yard was riddled with free Masons allowing other Masonic crimminals a free pass out of prisions & hiding crimes.
    At the time it was a major scandle. Some folks never learn.
