The Decline And Fall Of The American Empire

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
CNN Money, Feb.21thA federal court ordered the Obama administration Thursday to act on five deep water drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico within 30 days, calling the delays in issuing new decisions “unreasonable, unacceptable, and unjustified.”
Dow Jones Newswires, Feb. 24thIn a letter to President Barack Obama Thursday, the top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee joined two other lawmakers in urging the president to consider opening the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to ease pressure on oil and gas prices in advance of the summer driving season.

  1. If we all drove Indy cars, we could just fire up a still and use ethanol based fuel to get to work in record time!
    Unfortunately

Indycar Ethanol Apex Brazil USA Farmer Commodities
Like Canadian farmers with the CWB; US farmers get no respect. Ethanol fuel production goes to Brazil!!
US farmers and drillers led to drinking their sorrows away at the community organizers still in Brazil!

  2. How can anyone not see that Obama is now overtly working against American interests. He harms his own country for what reason?

  3. coach: yes but you can’t drown your sorrows in methanol, YOU’LL GO BLIND!!
But maybe that’s what they want the blind leading the blind…
Oh for the love of blended fuels.

“…he harms his own country for what reason?”
Because he is a sharia compliant whackademic socialist plant.

It’s a foreign country to Canada, but I have to wonder what you do with a critter that DOES seem to be aligned with, for lack of better words, the forces against the United States of America.

  6. After the market finishes correcting, which could take a while, maybe the rest of this year, it might be good to pick up some really dirt cheap beaten up drilling companies and deep water Gulf type outfits.
Because I do believe that whoever wins in 2012 is coming in on a platform of “Drill baby, drill!”

  7. There’s a 4 cylinder car in my future. I can only hope that Ford starts putting turbo chargers on Mustangs again.

  8. If Obama thinks he has fed-up masses under his thumb, put him in a car without air conditioning but with sweaty, screaming kids in a line-up for gas.
    A lesson in empathy.

  9. Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol, wood naphtha or wood spirits, is a chemical with formula CH3OH (often abbreviated MeOH). It is the simplest alcohol, and is a light, volatile, colorless, flammable, liquid with a distinctive odor that is very similar to but slightly sweeter than ethanol (drinking alcohol). At room temperature it is a polar liquid and is used as an antifreeze, solvent, fuel, and as a denaturant for ethanol. It is also used for producing biodiesel via transesterification reaction.

  10. I got hit Head On by a jackknifing semi just before Xmas…
The good part is that I survived…
The bad part is that I hurt like hell.
The interesting part is that if I hadn’t been driving a four cylinder I might have had more power to get out of the way in time.
All said and done, the driver’s compartment cage stood up as designed and I’m still here.
I replaced the vehicle wth the same model…
    Only a six instead.

  11. It’s all part of the Master Plan. You see, the Gulf of Mexico is the Strategic Oil Reserve!

  14. Coach,
Getting you up to speed, Indy cars have been using ethanol for at least 3 years now:
    http://www.indycar.com/news/show/55-izod-indycar-series/38107-ethanol-is-running-strong-meet-drivers/
Other articles on the Indy Car web site indicate for most races the ethanol has a 2% mix of gasoline added.
And the use of Ethanol (E15) in NASCAR began this year:
    http://www.nascar.com/news/110122/ethanol-details-thunder/index.html
But it’s still a sham/waste of corn, per the Gorical.
I noted the ABC news web site today had an article how a WA Democratic Senator is raising fears over the use of chemicals at refineries, and trying to restrict the building of same. Yep, play into the green hand, restrict supply, drive up prices more.

  15. Obama makes Jack Layton and Lizzy May look like centrists. His palace guard media cover his ass in every way imaginable, but mostly by silence. He deserves impeachment.

  16. I did not know Indy cars had switched to ethanol.
Speaking of methanol, there’s a plant in my town that makes it from natural gas. The plant was closed down a few years ago, because of rising natural gas prices, but is being recommissioned as I write.
There’s a bit of unhappy history with methanol in this town. It was used in transit buses, years ago, and some city employed mechanics were poisoned by working on the buses. Exposure to methanol, and its fumes, causes some very serious health issues.

  17. Rationing gasoline by market price is too simplistic when you have elected political idiots sitting around idly twiddling their thumbs waiting for media “facetime” to peddle their ridiculous BS. Selling off the strategic oil reserve for peanuts at the beginning of what could become a huge long term oil shortage crisis seems so “Democratic” and well thought out.

  18. “top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee joined two other lawmakers in urging the president to consider opening the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to ease pressure on oil and gas prices in advance of the summer driving season.”
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve exists to support America’s war fighting ability.
George W. Bush topped off and doubled the reserve after it was essentially drained by BJ Clinton.
One of the reasons that the price of oil topped $140/bbl last decade was because America and China were stocking up their Strategic Petroleum Reserves at the same time.
Squandering it by using it this this way would be a bad thing for America’s security and for the future price of oil vis à vis
the economy if a Republican President had to top the reserves up again.
Liberals: never caring about their country’s security and always emptying the pantry before the adults can take over the ship of state and prevent it from sinking.

  19. Not sure how much is actually in the SPR, but I’m willing to guess it’s not nearly enough to seriously affect market prices anywhere. If it were, the US could just threaten to release it and OPEC would be screwed. Probably the reason it’s called “strategic” and not “tactical”.
    Just my opinion.

gee coach, I got a great idea, how about YOU push for distilled water-powered engines?
