Stephen @10:24 – “I don’t think Romney is left of Obama’s teleprompter. However, he is a politician in old line sense of the word. Newt is more ideologically driven.”
The man who instituted Romneycare is not the man to dismantle Obamacare. I would prefer any half-viable candidate and in fact about 1/3 of the non-institutionalized adult U.S. population to Romney.
Gingrich/Cain probably won’t happen. They’re both from Georgia. These things matter. Gingrich/Palin sounds good to me.
I agree with everyone who’s suggested that the Rebublicans decline to let their debates be moderated by hostile liberal pundits.
Knight99 – the black thing wouldn’t help Cain. Liberals, who are basically racists anyway for the most part, hate him with a passion for being black (and not thinking as he’s told), and the African-American voter bloc is not going to go Republican suddenly any time within the next year. I’d discount race when it comes to strategizing right now.
Joe – would you sooner have Obama (or more likely Hillary)? ‘Cause there is no perfect candidate.
MND: you’re anti-Zionism = anti-Semitism. I’m kind of anti-Zionist. Zionism is a form of collectivism. Israel = good Zionism = not good
Knight99: there’s no evidence of harm to America from mass immigration and lots of evidence of benefits. The only reason Europe suffers from it is because Europe is an unfit welfare-state hellhole. If immigration can hasten the demise of SocDem Europe, then open the gates.
Black Mamba: “between the unfounded and unfair smears and, far more importantly, his own lack of a grasp of the issues, Cain isn’t looking good right now. I like him, but that’s not enough. As for Perry, have you seen this? (Yes, I know nobody’s perfect and no, he doesn’t strike me as drunk. Still, yikes.): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSJv-2qfDNc“
I hadn’t seen that video of Perry…Thanks. He has comedic timing and a bit of a George W.Bush-style self-deprecation; he’s a Texas good ol’ boy, perhaps. What I liked about his answers to the debate questions was his view that foreign aid starts at zero and increases for only those countries that deserve it and that are not working AGAINST the USA. Pakistan harboured bin Laden and continue to shelter the Taliban. They’re not on the side of the USA. Perry was far stronger in this debate than I had expected him to be. Herman Cain was a tad shaky, granted, but his response re. making foreign affairs and defense decisions was far better than that of Rick Santorum, who went WAY down in my estimation. Santorum only wants to surround himself with those who share his views, while Cain wants to pick the brains of experienced and intelligent experts in their fields and make decisions based on their advice. Santorum came off as arrogant and myopic.
I thought Romney did quite well, but Newt Gingrich would make a better, more conservative President. He’s REAL.

You were doing ok there for a while, but then you went and dropped this gem here. Anne Rand was right about an awful lot of things, but not -everything-.
Cultures are not all created equal. If you let barbarians frig up your culture by unrestricted immigration, pretty soon your country will look like a barbarian wasteland.
Example off the top of my head, some mooks stole the copper sword off the top of Lincoln’s tomb yesterday. First vandalism reported there in 100 years. Can’t be blamed on immigration directly (obviously) but it -can- be blamed on the erosion of US culture.
there’s no evidence of harm to America from mass immigration and lots of evidence of benefits. – las
Mass immigration flipped California from a Republican presidential lock ( and a fairly well administered state ) to its present condition. Continued immigration will likewise flip Texas, and the Republicans will never win another presidential election. At that point, the Democrats will be the permanent governing party, and it will only be a matter of time until the US will become the Brazil on Canada’s border.
If a Frenchman of Agerian or whatever arabic origin were hiden in ME, ploting for killing other french citizen, I hope France would try to kill him.
Terrorism is a out-of-law decease and needs out-of-law medecine.
A Frog !
Black Mamba – Newt has cleverness; Reagan had principles.
Cleverness in pols never redounds to the benefit of the electorate, only principled leadership does.
Newt folded in the budget showdown, and that set the Congressional Republicans on their 17 year – and counting- flight into cowardice and betrayal of their voters. Only an outsider will be able to break these whipped dogs of reflexively enacting the Democrat agenda by splitting the difference.
The US would not be in the present crisis if Gingrich had done the job he promised 16 years ago.
The Phantom: “Cultures are not all created equal. If you let barbarians frig up your culture by unrestricted immigration, pretty soon your country will look like a barbarian wasteland.”
Exactly. Being allowed to immigrate to Canada is a privilege, not a right. If you rip off the poppy fund jars, because, hey, you needed money and you had NO IDEA that it would cause a ruckus to hyper sensitive Canadians, consider yourself persona non grata, you lowlife.
“would you sooner have Obama (or more likely Hillary)?”
Neither which is why up to this point my choice remains Cain. That and the fact that whom ever beats Obambam Shrillery still has to govern the nation by reuniting it as a nation. Newt is way way way to partisan for that roll. In my mind it has always been better to have a philosopher and a king than a philosopher king.
“The problem with very bright people is that they tend to rely on their own intellect too much and reject the wisdom of the people.”
I believe this statement has been completely refuted by the 2008 election. The people in their ‘wisdom’ voted for a man they were told was very bright. Instead they got Barack Obama, a pigheaded ideologue who rejects wisdom and follows his own shallow intellect.
At this point I think it is important to understand that anyone of these Republican candidates would be an improvement over Obama. The economic damage unleashed by the Obama administration are likely irreversible now. The U.S. is at a tipping point. With Romney/Johnson things will not change all that much, under Paul, Cain, & Santorum things would significantly change. Under Perry & Gingrich things would moderatley change. Question is which way to go? I think we need to see how things play out in the next few months before things will come into focus. Any of these candidates should beat this most disappointing president.

That’s precisely why you don’t get the big picture!
Another is that North America is in the same boat and why the left uses third world immigration to tear down western civilization, knowingly or not. You fall into their destructive camp apparently unknowingly.
Arty you just confirmed what I said not refuted it. Obambam thinks he is so smart he doesn’t have to heed the wisdom of the people. He has a cadre of yes men telling him what he wants to hear. As a result he is stuck in a completely discredited ideology with nowhere else to go. If he bends to the common wisdom he will have to abandon his foundational beliefs. If he stays the course he will destroy the nation. Go read about Rehoboam in 2 Chronicles 10 if you want to see where that kind of pigheadedness will get you.
Black Mamba >
Of course you’re right; I was using a little tongue in cheek sarcasm.
My honest opinion is that they are ALL losers, and the US is pretty much f*cked from here on in. It’s truly a matter of like minded people circling the wagons and starting over literally from ground level.
Only the impossibly naive optimist can envision the peaceful turnaround of absolute corruption in every aspect of American governance, economy and social order. It isn’t the land of opportunity that immigrants from Europe flocked to a century ago, and hasn’t been for awhile now.
I believe that there are still a hell of allot of good people in the US today, but the majority of their heads are buried in their working lives while everyone else drowns out the rest in their self interests of materialism, decadence of all vices, and outright lunatic beliefs.
The current US superpower empire is a destructive runaway train past the point of no return IMO, the only unknown is when the tracks run out.
B Mamba,
Oh that old red herring on Romney.
1) Multiple governors since havent repealed it
2) It is only at the state level and with THAT state it seems quite popular and the states taxpayers cover it. Makes sese to me from a democratic perspective
3) Romeny has never wanted to impose a Mass. solution on the country as a whole.
4) Finally, there are differences between the two prorams and romney knows them. Most importantly he has already stated numerous times he rescinds it and it even before congress acts he signs an an executive order to gut it, ie not impose it on any state that doesnt want it.
Yup, all of those put Romney to the left of Obama.
I am sure there may be other things you can find that put Romney in the non-ideologically pure camp…but romeny care hardly qualiies as putting him to the left of Obama.
As I said, if Gingrich proves to be more than a flash in the pan from an popularity point of view I am comfortable with a large set of his policies.
But nominating someone who lets Obama win a seond term that cements his legitimacy and Obamacares legitimacy is unacceptable. And I would agree that McCain was the wrong choice in 2008 not because of his policies but because of his demeanour, experience and ability to campaign.
I,m just glad I,m not American, & have to vote for any of these goofs. Like we don’t have enough Cino’s in the Canada’s to contend with. Statists run by Unions, with bought bureaucracies . Its like people really think getting rid of Greece’s leader or the Italians is going to effect their economies. These guys are the window dressers, not the fabricators. Its the system dummies.
