Today’s English Lesson

Selfish: Wife of imprisoned drug millionaire, Marc Emery, failed Green Party candidate, and vacuous pothead, Jodie Emery:

Mrs. Emery was waving her Canadian flag quietly throughout much of the 2011 Remembrance Day ceremony in Vancouver until the end when the attention seeking #$!@% couldn’t help herself and started lecturing the soldiers and civilians below about the perils of war. It was all along the lines of this banner that had been displayed beside her the entire time:

What a “deep”, “meaningful” message, eh? So incredibly simplistic is the thinking of Radical Lefties like Dear Jodie. All who agree with such intellectual emptiness must, by definition, support the horrific oppression of victims around the world by totalitarian regimes. After all, one mustn’t ever go to war, because … repeat with me . . . “War = Death”. If you look up “Useful Idiot” in the dictionary you’ll see pot-induced smile.
But what would one expect from a person who recently on Twitter offered these gems:
– “War is costly big-government & anti-liberty…”
– “Harper & Cons are such war-mongers!”
– “But the prison is making budget cuts all over, since the USA is sinking into a hole of war-ravaged despair. So many abuses…”
Besides every single one of these comments being a lie, you’d find more depth by dipping a thimble into a single raindrop.

  1. No Dan I am sorry you are wrong, I do not advocate the same as BCTF/CUPE as I advocate for personal individual freedoms not for just a master in a different coloured suit.
I believe in freedom to chose not the freedom to impose my rules/wants/fears on every other living human in order to sleep easy.

  2. The biggest marches for peace take place on November 11. Only idiots think it is a glorification of war. I had many relatives in the wars and no-one thought it was a good idea, just necessary.

  3. Grey Lady seems to have forgotten one of the hallmark characteristics of classic civil disobedience: when you “stick it to the Man”, and the Man throws your ass in jail, you cheerfully accept your fate, because doing the time without complaint demonstrates your (alleged) moral superiority.
Why do think Mohandas Gandhi and Nelson Mandela are considered to be secular “saints”? Because they did precisely that. And languished, nobly, in jail for many years.
Marc Emery is just a self-centred jerk.

  4. I support a smaller government. That would mean the -legal- decriminalization of weed to go with the already in place de-facto decriminalization we currently have. The only people who get busted for weed these days are guys who annoy the cops, that’s a waste of money.
    And I hate wasting money.
Still, I continue to find it funny that in our Super Safety, seat belt/bike helmet/no smoking society, people keep agitating to legalize stuff we all know is bad for you.

  5. GL, I know that you are not a shill for those radical leftist orgs.
Unfortunately, you are using their same excuse. They are sanctimonious in their ‘holier-than-thou’ position, for which only serves their narrow agenda.
Play with fire, expect third degree burns, whether or not you personally agree with the law doesn’t matter, nobody is a law unto themselves, despite what the useful idiot Mockuppiers say.

  6. Grey Lady from your comment at 11:34
“Bad laws are made to be broken in order to show their hypocritical and arbitrary stoooopidity.”
Just who gets to decide which laws are stupid, and how does their breaking of those laws put them above them?

  7. Hey folks just because one smokes pot it does not automatically mean one is a left leaning moron. It relieves stress far better than a six pack will and kills fewer brain cells (unless you are one of the Emery’s!). Pot should be legalized and taxed-that’s a no brainer. I’d rather wander down to the LCBO and buy a gram of weed than by it illegally- hey we pot head are all about convenience! Anyhoo Emery’s wife is just another member of the lefty “Well Duh!” crowd. Her sign might as well say “War=Sad”. Thanks to all the vets who have secured our freedom through unprovoked conflict. That’s what Nov 11th is about, not your juvenile protest Mrs.Emery you twit.

  8. Ward every living soul breaks a law, almost everyday. You have never knowingly driven above the speed limit? Not come to a full stop? Used a product that was banned? Crossed the street against a light?
Have I broken the law? Sure I put up a clothsline in a no clothsline district. Still there in the yard and several of my neighbours joined me. Come and get me.

  9. Dan,
I agree sometimes a stiff price must be paid in order to change an unjust law. Civil disobedience, not sitting at the back of the bus, eating at a lunch counter, selling seeds, is an important component of changing laws.
Does it bother anyone that the federal Government accepted over half a million dollars in taxes from Mr. Emery? For a business whose nature he fully disclosed? He would have been better off paying it to the mob for protection, they at least are honest.

  10. Bruce: Nice to see you brought your most proper language with you re: “vacuous, pot-addled b!tch”. This is why the left feel the need to demonize such filth. How easy it was for you to slander another human being. So much for morality.
Bill Gardiner: Agreed, which is why the left will continue to inform the right of their hypocritical attitudes towards almost everything.
    Cheers

    “War = Death”
ah, yes… just like my blogbuddy rob “grey owl” budde…
“ps. what’s with the piece pic on yr profile?
    Guns kill people man.”

and as i replied to all the robs & jodies out there…
“Perhaps you could also take a moment Rob, to reflect upon the fact that…
were it not for soldiers and horrible, evil guns… you might not be
sitting around at your computer trolling Conservative websites.”

“You might instead be chained to a workbench in a concentration camp
making industrial products for the Greater German Reich.”

    “But again… thanks for asking.

  12. Abe @10.29: Your father-in-law was some kind of man. One every young man who joined the RCAF envied and the country can be proud of.
His untimely death at age 51 in such an untimely accident has me shaking my head.

  13. Grey Lady:
So Mark Emery accidentally sold pot seeds into the US time and time and time again, and then accidentally thumbed his nose at US authorities, then accidentally promoted himself as some sort of Johnny marijuanaseed martyr while accidentally getting quite wealthy in the process, while accidentally getting a tremendous amount of sympathetic media coverage to help mainstream his cause/case.
Yes I have accidentally sped and I got a ticket.
I think you have made a very poor metaphor.

  14. Uh, Skiperoo, that was a quote from Milton and it is about his blindness, though I suppose it could be used for various other reasons, but it was not in reference to war. The roundheads certainly weren’t pacifists.

  15. Ward I’m thinking we are passed “extended debate” status.
I’m not interested in continuing with someone who can’t even be honest with themselves let alone in a public debate. Mother Teresa may believe that you have only gone above the speed limit “accidently” (liar) but I am not her. You have a good day now. :O)

  16. As i recall Marc knowingly broke the law by selling seeds to customers in the US. Now there are many gun parts I want from teh US, but having them shipped up here breaks US laws as well, yet as stupid as both sides think the laws are we live with them while trying to get them changed.
No one forced marc to do what he did, and from what I can tell he was warned what might happened and thought he was immune to US laws. Guess he got bad legal advice.

If you’re referring to the “they also serve…” quotation, it was used extensively during the second world war to refer to the families, wives especially, who busied themselves producing for the war effort, while they waited for their men to come home. Who wrote it originally is immaterial – it now belongs to the ages in many contexts.

  18. I agree that the ‘war on drugs’ is a usless waste of time, lives and money. People use drugs voluntarily. Laws can’t stop that.
With respect to Emery, he got what was coming to him. You dick around with Americans and their laws and you will pay the price. Ask Conrad Black and Allan Eagleson
