The Modern Left: Unhappy, Miserable Souls

I’m down in Silicon Valley this weekend to watch the Sharks-Canucks game tonight. Watching the local news out of San Francisco last night, this was the lead story. Here’s a video taken by one of the participants in the “protest”:

Just imagine, for a second, taking your children Christmas shopping and encountering riot police blocking a horde of smelly, dirty neanderthals from advancing forward. Why did the police have to be there? Because the iPad toting barbarians wanted to disrupt a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
Stop for a moment to digest the full meaning of such actions.
Who, in their right mind, would do such a thing? What’s next for these creeps? Blocking children from seeing Santa Claus at the mall? Stripping houses of Xmas lights? Blocking Christmas tree lots? Preventing kids from gathering chocolate eggs at Easter? Standing in front of Girl Guides selling cookies?!?
Through it all these Rabid Leftists are absolutely unapologetic, feeling no shame whatsoever. They have been so deeply brainwashed that they believe they’re on a righteous crusade to change the behaviour of the rest of us “to be more enlightened” like them. It doesn’t take much research to find out when in history forced reeducation was tried before … and always ended up very unpleasantly.
Charles Adler shares his thoughts on what’s going on with these thugs.
For the record, I absolutely believe that Christmas has become too commercialized. For many it has become all about the shopping, all about the gifts. I have made my own decision to cut down on the gift portion of the holiday and instead focus on writing personal extended letters to the loved ones in my life. But never have I dreamed of telling others what they should do with their time & money, let alone tried to physically stop them from engaging in any such activities. That’s a step way too far that no freedom loving person would ever do. But as we see all around our daily lives, Leftists have never actually believed in Freedom, have they?!

  1. joseph….some great thoughts you convey.
I think we all have people in our lives that had affected us in profound ways and I, like you, am so very grateful for them.
Lovely for you to have him as long as you did.

  2. thankyou for your kind words Ken and flaunagirl.
My point that I wanted to convey is that if any emotion should be expressed toward the occupation, it should be one of regret. Regret that while they spend their time protesting, they are missing out on a lot of what this life has to offer.
    I pity them.
In their rush to convict the devils of this world they wish to eliminate the protections against them, namely the freedom to succeed.

  3. I’ve been working in retail for the last month. All day long, the store music is “Christmas themed”, which means the songs can be about the holiday season, so long as there is no mention of Jesus or religion.
That means no “Silent Night”, no “Little Town of Bethlehem”, no “God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen”. It’s just an endless loop of “White Christmas”, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, “The Christmas Song”, and “I’ll be Home for Christmas”, with the occasional “Frosty” or “Rudolph” just to spice things up. It is freakin’ BOOOOORRRRRIIIIINNNNGGG.
What I find ironic is that the “Big Three” of these songs – White Christmas, I’ll be home, and Have yourself – are all actually quite melancholy, and all rose to prominence during WWII, when US soldiers were pining for home. These are the songs you play to put people in an upbeat shopping mood?

“I am a secular atheist, but I do inhabit a metaphysical and philosphical universe, as do you.I understand your position and support you in its defense against socialist secuarism and atheism. But I am not either of these two, although I am atheist philosophically.”
Very well put….you and me both….
But I was just reminded that my most memmorable Christmas was back in the day…when a bunch of us huddled in a crude bunker and shared a Christmas dinner of C-rats….said grace and meant it…
I guess ya just had to be there to understand…but thank whoever…you were not….

  5. I can always tell when Robert’s picking the video’s to share. Usually 18 minutes longer than they really need to be. Honestly my life isn’t this thing that chains my ass to a desk!
