“If you and your staff aren’t smart enough or self-aware enough to figure out that you don’t go walking into obvious set-ups with slack-jawed TV show hosts, then do you REALLY think you are going to be able to go up against Putin or the ChiComs? Hon, if you get rolled by JIMMY FALLON, then you won’t stand a chance against Hu Jintao.
“But then, the very fact that the gateway to the Oval Office is now kept by the likes of undignified flotsam like Jimmy Fallon and these other TV carney hacks is just more proof that this country is officially, totally and irrevocably screwed.”

  2. EBD @ 10:32, that is quite a revealing photo collage. A collection of misfits, useful idiots and dangerous types.

  3. my husband thought he’d tease me a bit when he picked up this free magazine littering the local Little Caesars this afternoon:
    http://commonground.ca/?cat=749
on the cover is Donald Sutherland (old hippie) doing the Communist Fist with a young hippie. and sweet little Brigitte de Pape (Stop Harper chick) has a column on page 5.
    Lovely, lovely stuff!
I think I may just go back to that Little Caesars tomorrow and say, “You’ve just lost a customer”.

  4. Welcome to the western world:
“An illegal immigrant who claimed to be paralysed from the neck down but was filmed dancing at his wedding cheated more than £400,000 in benefits, a court heard yesterday. But even though Mohamed Bouzalim, 37, has admitted dishonestly entering the country and fraudulently exploiting the welfare system, legal sources said they will face an ‘uphill battle’ to deport him. There is a strong likelihood the Moroccan will be able to remain in the UK by claiming he has a right to family life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, immigration sources said. When Bouzalim came to Britain in June 2001, he had no papers and claimed to be an Afghan national whose father had been executed by the Taliban, Isleworth Crown Court in west London was told. Using the name Mohamed Amir Hussini, he successfully claimed asylum before constructing the extraordinary lie that he was paralysed and required 24-hour care, receiving £66,000 ($108,000 CAD) a year in benefits…”

  5. For interested hockey fans, here’s a small subset of the photos I took at the Canucks-Sharks game in San Jose last night.
I wasn’t allowed to bring my good lens into the arena but I think many of the shots still turned out okay.
The biggest surprise of all was to find out how much incredible interest in hockey there is here in the Greater SF Bay Area. Canada’s game has become their game too!

“Officials say the arm of the 1,000-ton crane built by Zoomlion Heavy Industries snapped and fell onto the entourage, which had gathered to watch the assembling of the tower with its 5-megawatt turbine and blades 100 meters in diameter.
The dead included Yu Yongding, management committee director for the Jiuquan Industrial Park where the plant is located. Also killed were Yu’s his wife, who worked as a city government official, and a Yu subordinate.”

  7. Robert, great pictures. It looks like the one kid was not all that interested in the hockey game.

  8. Remember the MSM’s frequent use of the exact (JournoList approved words) “overwhelmingly white” on regards to the Tea Party rallies
Occupy The Plantation? Blacks Shun OWS
“An observer from Mars would find this confusing. Noting that the overwhelming majority of American Blacks vote for liberal and left wing candidates, the Man from Mars would expect exiguous Black turnout at right wing demonstrations and on the other hand predict substantial Black support for left wing events. More, the Martian would note that while many Tea Party protests took place in suburbs far from the homes of inner city Blacks, OWS protests are more conveniently located in urban areas with large Black populations. To a Martian, “Blacks Skip Remote Wingnut Shoutfest” is not news, while “Blacks Boycott Nearby Moonbat Hootenanny” is.
Evidently, that shows how little Martians know. The fearless, unbiased, super-intelligent and well credentialed people who make up our mainstream media investigated endlessly why Blacks did not attend inconveniently located rallies whose principles they generally do not support, and glossed blandly over their absence from close by rallies in support of principles that, at least in theory, they love. Via Meadia sometimes wonders how we would ever survive without the ceaseless labors of the genteel, bien pensent press. It isn’t easy to maintain an air of sophisticated wisdom while ignoring big honking obvious facts, but our journalistic establishment gets this done every day.”

  9. Well either the occupests chickened out last night or they were stopped because they weren’t in the santa claus parade here in Victoria. I did see two occupods with some terrorist flag walking down the sidewalk so maybe they were the only people who showed up.

“Germany, France plan quick new Stability Pact: report”
“(Reuters) – France and Germany are planning a quick new pact on budget discipline that might persuade the European Central Bank to ramp up its government bond purchases, Welt am Sonntag reported on Sunday.
Echoing a Reuters report on Friday from Brussels, the Sunday newspaper said the French and German leaders were prepared to back a deal with other euro countries that might induce the ECB to intervene more forcefully to calm the euro debt crisis.
The newspaper report quoted German government sources as saying that the crisis fighting plan could possibly be announced by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy in the coming week.
In an advance release before publication, Welt am Sonntag said that because it would take too long to change existing European Union treaties, euro zone countries should just agree among themselves on a new Stability Pact to enforce budget discipline – possibly implemented at the start of 2012.”

  12. When the only people who will buy your bonds are central banks the jig is up. Central banks get the money to buy bonds from their own printing presses. The result will be Weimar style inflation.

“The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, or KAUST, is one of several new universities in the Arab world spending big money to attract top talent. It has $10-million, five-year collaboration with Sargent, who has been working with KAUST since 2008 as one of its 12 global research partnership investigators.
KAUST announced in September signing a “first-of-its-kind” agreement for rights to Sargent’s quantum dot solar cell technology. The license covers 38 countries in the Middle East, Western Asia, Russia and India. Sargent and the University of Toronto retain the rights for the rest of the world.”

  16. From the incomparable Melanie Phillips:
“Stephen Harper is a gold standard politician. In a world run by political pygmies, he stands out as a true statesman. It may be more than the Canadians who give thanks that he is up there on the world stage in the terrifying months ahead.”
    http://phillipsblog.dailymail.co.uk/2011/11/a-statesman-for-the-west.html
It’s true that a prophet is without honour in his own country. The great thing about Prime Minister Stephen Harper is that he doesn’t fret about his so-called lack of popularity in the Canadian media. When he comes to a fork in the road, he goes straight ahead.

  17. dmorris nails it at 5:53.

So, even some of the Brits notice that PM Harper is a gold standard statesman compared to their pygmy liberal in disguise.
