  1. ZOMG! Stevie found his pair, and all it took was a little bitty majority.
Let’s tot up the scoreboard, shall we?
    End the gun registry? Check.
    End the CWB monopoly? Check.
Clean up the immigration mess? Well, they’ve started.
    A real crime bill? Check.
    Out of Aghani-land? Almost.
Budget surplus? Not as much progress as we would like, but at least – unlike Dulltone’s Ontario – we’re moving in the right direction.
Not bad for six months. Let’s see what they’ve done in a year!

  2. “NDP environment critic Megan Leslie called the government’s decision to pull out of the Kyoto accord “disappointing.”
“It’s a really cynical and it’s a really cowardly move,” Leslie told CTV News”
No,Megan,it’s the most courageous move by a politician we’ve seen in years!
I guess all those E-mails and letters we’ve sent in over the years were read and investigated.
    Good work,Mr.Kent and Mr.Harper!

  3. “Kyoto is essentially a socialist scheme to suck money out of wealth-producing nations.”
Stephen Harper, you magnificent B**tard! I raise a toast in your honour.

  4. Stephen Harper, you magnificent B**tard! I raise a toast in your honour.
    Well said ‘Rick’.

  5. I wonder where the money spent to mitigate the effects of climate change will be spent as there have been no effects of climate change nor indeed any climate change. I see larger Swiss bank accounts for dictators.

  6. From the CTV report: … “Kent told The Canadian Press that the Kyoto Protocol is out of date because it excludes major emitters among developing nations, including China, India and Brazil.
He also said that previous governments had failed to devise a strategy to hit the accord’s targets.”
Instead of arguing that more of this bullshit “something must be done” is required, it would have been swell if Minister Kent had brought up the obvious fraud that those in the environment industry have been selling. He could have made a stand for real science. Instead, he has failed real science and I don’t think that P.M. Harper should get any credit for this simply because the big boys didn’t want to play the game.
Note too, that the Gov’t of Canada is promising to contribute $400 million to help poorer countries perpetuate this nonsense still.

  7. We are still coughing up $400 million for a non-problem.
While Kyoto gets deep-sixed, we are still giving up money for nothing.
And Lizard May can go bite a tree! What a dimwitted moonbat!

  8. Twice in one week I get to say “I love our Conservative majority!”
What is this odd feeling I feel? It must be… happiness! Hee hee! ~:)
And I just had another happy thought! Can you guys imagine the look on Dr. David “Fruitfly” Suzuki’s face tonight? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    So WAY TO GO CPC!!!
Keep it coming boys, there’s a long way to go but we’re off to a roaring start!

  9. I’m curious how much upset this is going to cause among the left. the wind (pardon the pun) is very much out of their sails at the moment – climategate, dire economic news, etc. has put the environment very far down the priority list for almost all Canadians.
Someone put out an APB for May, Barlow, Strong and company…

  10. ” The fund is expected to grow over the next eight years to eventually distribute about $100 billion a year. However, it is still unclear where all of that money will come from and how it will be distributed.”
That is so exciting. I just know that we will benefit. (:-0

  11. This is great news.
Thank you PM Harper and Minister Kent for putting an end to this fraud as far as Canada is concerned.

  12. Long time coming. I guess I will have to send some funds to my MP Rona Ambrose along with a thank you note!

  13. Is Stephen Harper really Santa Claus, or has he just got CSIS reading my letters to the North Pole?

  14. We are still BORROWING 400 million a year to give to a known corrupt fund for a non issue. I’m not celebrating that our Gov. is only taking sips of the green koolaid instead of gulps.

  15. Watch for an S-Storm from the Left over this. And not once will the vast majority of the MSM once mention Climategate. Doing so simply doesn’t fit into their narrative.

  16. uhh…what exactly is a slimate conference !?!?

  17. Sometimes you get the feeling that the Conservatives are just as stupid as the rest of them and then they surprise everyone.

  18. I wish I could celebrate, but I’m not impressed. We’re still paying $400 million per year for climate distress ransom.

  19. During the talks, Canada will also announce its plans for its annual financial commitment of $400 million to help poorer countries tackle climate change.
Kent said most of the money will be given through bilateral agreements, and half of the money will be distributed as repayable loans.
Canada’s future commitments to the Green Climate Fund will depend on an agreement for reducing emissions by 2020, with progress open to international monitoring, he said.
“We need to advance broadly rather than simply make financial agreements as one-offs.”
If I could hi-light it in bright yellow I would.

  20. What is this Archbishop Desmond Tutu all about? I get the Anglican Journal very month and can read all about same sex blah blah and every blah blah political cause but have never seen the words Jesus Christ within.

  21. This is just a start but I want to see PMSH start talking about the scientific fraud that underlies CAGW. I want to hear about plans to arrest Mann for fraud if he ever sets foot in Canada and the same should go for any member of “the team” whose exploits are detailed in the Climategate emails.
We could get back some of the money we’ve wasted on this scam by auctioning off the right to be the person to detonate the explosives to bring down a bird blender and I’d pay good money to be able to topple one of those monstrosities.
When PMSH orders criminal investigations into this scam then I’ll believe that he’s really doing something to expunge the CAGW fraud from this country. In celebration of this little victory I’ll turn on all of my 300W halogen lamps tonight.

  22. that 400 mill of our tax dollars going to help other countries battle climate change? Steve, you take 2 steps forward and one step back. That is so unnecessary.
Stop it already. Read all the climate gate stuff. Please.

  23. Wake up strident conservatives.
THIS brand of Conservatives get it….and they’re playing the game.
The 400 million? Mostly loans. For what? Dams? Utilities probably. Look everyone! We care! (Now about payment….)
You’re also assuming this 400 million ever gets spent in the first place. “Announce & forget” might be on order.
    These guys are terrific!

  25. Patience; Loki, Rita and Soccermom – ‘Rome was not built in a day’. It will take a few years to flush the reds out and Heaven Help him, PMSH is their PM too – he has to listen to them even if he does not agree with them.
As so well said by Rick

Our PM said other things about Kyotee back in the day – I watch the House of Commons-they were common sense things (never reported by the ‘I would not count on it’ media) and the Dippers/Liberanos/Pretend Conservatives/blocistas quivered in outrage (because they all knew Kyotee was a Commi hoax and they did not like to be called on their lies). Our PM (unlike many other world leaders) is on our side. I do not miss the ‘kicked in the stomach’ feeling that I had everyday the Liberanos were in the driver’s seat of this nation. The Dark days of the Liberanos have passed, the skies are clearing and we have reason to celebrate regaining our BNA Liberty! That BNA was stolen from us by Turdo and it seems that our ‘strong, stable, Conservative majority government is intent on restoring the individual rights and freedoms that we once enjoyed in Canada. Any day now I expect a Conservative private member’s bill to restore the Right to Own Property.
A toast to our magnificent PM and his crew of freedom fighters. Blast all the fog horns because the seagulls will be squawking.

  26. well, if you put it that way…
I just really want PM Harper to say “hey folks, the science is NOT settled and Canada will not waste another dime on this folly.”
a girl can dream, can’t she?
it is definitely a step in the Right direction, though

Don’t despair.Remember she is a whiny little beyoatch who can’t get laid. Oh damn. Was that unPC? Tough titties lady.Grow some.

  28. This is a huge positive step – what took so long?
But, as far as giving $400 million a year to poorer countries to help battle climate change – perhaps that is really not buying into the human caused climate change point of view? I mean, most people agree that the climate is changing, and has always been changing, and that if any money gets paid out, then it should be towards efforts to adapt to a changing climate, rather than stop the climate from changing. And, if this is the case, then perhaps Canada, a relatively rich country, could support poorer countries in this way, in my opinion.
However, I think it should all be wrapped up in a package that denounces the AGW point of view, announces legal action against people who have perpetrated the fraud, and exposes fully such issues as climategate 1 and 2. There are still far too many people who are not aware of the two sides of this issue – if they get their news only from CBC, CTV, and Global – woefully uninformed.
I have a well educated and admittedly intelligent (but arrogantly so) brother-in-law who absolutely believes that anyone who doesn’t believe fully that humans are almost completely responsible for a changing climate must be financed, or influenced by “big oil”. He won’t entertain any other possibility – I thought of him a lot, and others like him (there are many) when I read that wonderful essay a few weeks ago, about people who adopt a point of view, and then only seek out information which affirms that point of view, ignoring everything else. How do you convince people like this? I think it is impossible. They don’t see the evil in Al Gore, or the ignorance (and evil) of David Suzuki, etc.

  29. Like to point out that Harper likes to play the long game, liberals don’t play the long game.
Yes, there was a statement that the govt is still committed to this 400 million to a fund, but there is now also a stipulation that our govt wants more control over how and where the money gets spent. The proponents of the scam are dead set against it and would rather see no deal than agree to oversight. But then if there is no global agreement….
Look at the big pic folks. I recall a certain pipeline deal that is being opposed by a guy living on an Penn.ave address in Washington DC whose also in deep we with the AGW. Lizzie May is a lot of things, but the contention that this course of action could sabotage the global warming scam, is spot on.
This scam got a great deal of legitimacy when Chretien endorsed it, now we have the opportunity to reverse another disaterous decision.
Going full bore would only bring into play political forces that have deep pockets and far reaching connections.
This requires political maneuvering to put the AGW crowd at a political disadvantage.

  30. All good stuff Mr. Harper. But it would please me to no end to see the Fruit Fly Pimp Sowzuki lose his charitable status, the same as you did to GreenPeace. And if only you would issue an International arrest warrant for Mo Strong the Godfather of the Great Scam. Start Locking up the FRAUDSTER’s and LYING A*S BITCHES who perped the FRAUD and still are doing it today.

  31. Re Canada’s announcement that it will formally withdraw from the Kyoto Accord: Bravo! It was a hair-brained, l/Liberal make-money-scheme-for-Mo-Strong-David-Suzuki-and-associates anyway that has cost the Canadian taxpayer far too much already.
As for Green Party Leader Elizabeth May’s calling the move “a very damaging act of sabotage … [which] will reverberate around the world, [assuring that] Canada will be a pariah globally if it goes through with this,” I guess she’s referring to her tiny, little world.
The colour of May’s party is wonderfully appropriate; we know that Martians are green and it’s clear that Ellie May’s from another planet.

  32. Wow. Kill Kyoto and Section 13 all in one week. This government (and few others) have shown that they stand for principle. Let Megan and Liz freeze in the dark somewhere together. Both are morons.

  33. My, my, my. How the worm turns.
Not that many moons ago, a truckload of posters, many of whose handles are noted here above, were howling for Harper’s head, calling him an CINO for mouthing the usual pious platitudes about climate change et.al. And you mocked and derided those of us who said that actions, not words, are the only thing that counts.
Jeff is absolutely right. There’s not an actual nickel of money in that $400 million fund. And there never will be, because Canada wants conditions on the fund to which the recipients will never agree. Read the fine print, people.
And for those of you who want loud, public denunciations? Get a life. In politics, particularly international politics, programs and polioies are always murdered quietly and in the dark of night. Canada will continue to mouth platitudes about climate change which mean nothing. Kyoto is dead; it expires next year and there will be no extension agreement (we knew that from Copenhagen.)
And why do you think this is happening? Because Kyoto is a Euro scheme. And despite decades of playing nice with the Euros, they are trying to have an official EU boycott of Canadian oil. And they’re making all kinds of holdups over the bilateral free trade agreement under negotiations. So, Canada and PMSH is telling the Euros that Canada isn’t playing their stupid game any more. They want to call our oil “dirty”? Fine, we’ll kick over the Kyoto card table and show the sniveling, bankrupt b@st@rds that we don’t play nice and stupid any more.
It’s time for a few of you to admit that PMSH is smarter and tougher than you are.

  34. One more step along the long road to economic and scientific sanity.
Now to cut off funding for the nutters in the various Climate Scientology departments who have been sponsoring the scam.
If I were Weaver, I’d would now have real worries about those black helicopters on campus at U Vic.

    Property Rights???

  36. cgh
We’ve been listening to various talking heads on the left, espouse various Euro leftist policies over the years, that always seemed on the surface “warm and fuzzy”, but you just knew they were economically unsound. But, “the French have done it”, etc, etc.
Yeah, Europe sure has set a nice example, hasn’t it? The policy is the same as before, if the Euros recommend, do the exact opposite. The Euros have shown complete incompetence in running an economy, yet our Dippers Libbers, Greentards and Blocheads keep trotting out the Euroweenie talking points. Brain dead ideological twits, all of them.
And yes, PMSH is a master chess player. Even on policies like AGW, it appears he’s playing both sides of the coin, giving little room for the leftards to attack. I still don’t like “loans” to third world messes….the loans never get paid back.
Still, the end of Kyoto is a HUGE day, as long as nothing is followed or signed in its footsteps.
    Ou est Dionky?

  37. It is great to wake up one morning and see that our Northern Friends have more sense than the entire Washington/Obama administration..
