  1. “Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative government thinks not. And it’s a fair bet that a lot of Canadians would agree.”
No, not “a lot” of Canadians agree with Kenney,MOST Canadians agree with him, 80%,four fifths, you could even say,”ALMOST ALL” if you wanted to be dramatic, and honest.
The “Star” seems to have no trouble with drama, it must be the other.
It’s about bloody time we quit pandering to every loud minority, and this is a good start.

  2. Only during Citizenship ceremonies. At least that’s a start. A better start would have been to ban them altogether as part if the immigration policy. This is Canada, take it or leave it.

  3. I would expect that those “Canadian Muslim women” saluting Mr. Kenney will soon see the error of their ways. Any of them that may survive, that is…

  4. The Red Star editorial Board. On the same life boat as Captain Schettino . A banding Canada for alien laws that hurt us all.

  5. Apparently, writers at The Star view face veils as a political fashion statement much like bra burning or a Che scarf.
Meanwhile (some? many?) liberated Muslim women see it as oppressive clothing not demanded by their religion.
So, IMO, white liberal feminists come across as superficial when compared to their Muslim sisters.
BTW, if Palin’s supposed shallow grasp of foreign affairs and political issues had leftists calling her “Caribou Barbie” then, by the same standard, shouldn’t progressives be called or “Burka Barbies” or “Chevy Volt/Solyndra Barbies” for their poor grasp of religious and energy issues.

  6. Hilarious. Lefties have been reliably funny for ages and they have no idea. Too bad they’re lethal.

  7. Wearing a veil while reading improves the content of the Star – it’s a optical fact.

  8. “It’s about bloody time we quit pandering to every loud minority, and this is a good start”. Well, the
quiet majority of the minority probably agrees with us – if they didn’t, most of them wouldn’t be here.
Middle Eastern and Asian women are often very strong characters. They need to be.
I still remember remarking to an attractive Hindu woman of Brahmin caste that there was much to recommend in Hindu traditional values. She pinned my ears back as never before or since; “Hindu traditional values? Suttee!! Suttee!! Widow-burning! That’s what Hindu traditional values are! Widow-burning!” She was in fact a widow, and Brahmins are supposed to follow Hindu traditional values more closely than others, so it was quite personal to her. I suspect that she was an admirer of Gen. Sir Charles Napier.

  9. Torstar is always blathering on about some perceived racial inequality or another.
Oddly enough, when they post pics of their employees who have won awards . . . they’re always honkies!
New Torstar motto: One Yonge Street: Home Of The Honky ™.

  10. For being so called “journalists” they seem to be rather out of touch with just about everything that goes on it the world and at home.
Could Ms Kate start a publication that informs Canadians about things?

  11. The white chattering class knows more about Islam than Muslim women. That is their message, which confirms how clueless they, the white chattering class, are.

  12. The”STAR”people condemned Kenney to show their readers and each other that they were inclusive and caring. The fact that they were wrong is incidental to them.

  13. Every day, thousands of live trees are mowed down, chemically pulped into newsprint, trucked in massive rolls to Toronto, and printed into tonnes of copies of the Toronto Star filled with what – advertising for fast food, cars, America dominated popular culture and fashion products? Most of the daily tonnage spends only a few minutes in someone’s hands before going directly into the trash or the recycle bins. I don’t know why the people of Toronto tolerate it, they should organize a massive greenie protest/boycott.

  14. There are times when one should be obligated to show one’s face. A citizenship ceremony is one of them, although I would probably consider driving and voting as more important.
On private property, the owner may make up reasonable rules of his own, and bar those who do not with to abide by them.
Apart from that, what people wear in public walking down the street minding their own business is no concern of the state.

  15. I wonder how the Star and their fans would feel about an American immigrant showing up at the citizen ceremony in klan robes?
