That Which The Left Can’t Defeat, They Infiltrate

We have seen the enemy and he is James Moore.

“The government is committed to ensuring that foreign investments benefit Canadians. We will review Target’s proposal and make an announcement in due course,” James Maunder, director of communications for Moore, said Thursday in an emailed statement.
Target’s plans to sell cultural content such as books, CDs and DVDs will be subject to a net-benefit test under the Investment Canada Act. Cases are approved based on a commitment to Canadian content.

  1. It should be embarrassing for the minister to define culture so narrowly. If there are Sorel boots on the shelves , then Canadian content is covered.

  2. Any Canadian music or literature that has value will be successful in the marketplace. The government has absolutely no place in subsidizing “artists” who are uniformly leftist and think they’re entitled to their entitlements.
I’ve bought CD’s from Canadian bands, usually at concerts that they’ve put on. There are a lot of good musicians out there who don’t receive a dime in government funding. Most of the books I have by Canadian authors are from small self-publishing outfits as they deal with non politically correct topics.
Because there are no bookstores or music stores where I live that carry the material I’m interested in, all my book and music ordering is done through Amazon.com. Granville Books in Vancouver was the only bookstore that I used to frequent but they were a victim of the Vancouver Olympics — that is when I began to almost exclusively use Amazon.
Most likely I’ll do very little shopping at Target when it comes to Canada, unless its electronics department is superior to what’s out there now. I do so much of my shopping online now that the main thing I go to stores for is to buy food, beer, batteries and ammo.

  3. Tar-zhay has books? Huh? I’ve been in at least two American Target stores and I don’t recall seeing any “cultural content” at all.

  4. Phil has been typing before his meds wear off and James Moore seems to be in the wrong party.
First he defends the CBC and now this nonsense.
We had ENOUGH of that crap with Sheila Cops when she was “Heritage” Minister.
We don’t need a heritage minister. What we need is to embrace our country and enjoy the freedoms it is supposed to ensure instead of running around like little babies peeing our pants because there is competition. Anybody who can write or act should not be on the government tit. They should be writing and acting. The trouble with the nanny paying their way is evident by the crap we get for the money.
Most of our really talented Canadians head South where they can actually work and be recognized for their TALENT.

Kate, there is an enormous amount of truth to that statement. It holds true in engineering too – it is a field that is being pushed and shoved year after year by the left. Soon it will be unrecognizable.

  6. James Moore does know that you can buy books and other cultural products on-line from people who are not subject to Can-cult rules, doesn’t he?
Just what the hell is James Moore doing in the Conservative Party? This guy is so obviously a Liberal, he must suffer from an identity crisis every waking moment.
