  1. This is what happens when the media carries an empty suit to power and people are not smart enough to see it happening right under their noses.
Alright, so people get fooled once but it is *astonishing* that there is still a sizeable portion of the population that will vote for this idiot again. That is truly a sorry reflection on the ability of democracy to take us in a good direction.

  2. Affirmative action and media manipulation in action…the Obama legacy
God I hope the Americans show some smarts and get rid of the #emptychair

  3. They keep grumbling that they were deceived, that Obama was a great speaker, blah blah blah.
But he wasn’t. Anyone with a brain would have seen that he was 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb. bag.
And – I hate to say this – but I don’t think Mittens is much better. They are both statist cretins that have no business being near the Whitehouse.

  4. They were going to have named it The Great Half-White Dope but they were afraid of copyright problems.

  5. First 2016. Now The Hope and The Change.
My question, where are all the Democratic movies?
Seems like Hollywood at large is ducking this one…..

  6. @Big Bad Jim
You must have missed the R.N.C. speech “mittens” just gave …you also must have missed all of the tea party delegates that were elected last year , as well as mittens running mate paul ryan and undisputed fiscal conservative .
The biggest difference between obama and “Mittens” is that “Mittens” has opened a buisness hired people fired people helped people , he has paid taxes to the govornemnt not taken them from the govornemnt , he has run a buisness , he has lostm oney and made money …alot of it.
obama has NEVER worked in his life for anyone other than the govornemnt. He has been supported by mom , dad ,grandma , grandpa, sister aunty uncle , govornemnt , affirmative action , heh as never dug a ditch , he has never traded in comerce , heh as know clue about how a buisness works . NONE he hates buisness be it small or big . He hates success be it a little or alot.
This is the difference between the two.

  7. Wow a mitt full of crazy loons that must have been knocked in the head with life’s clue-bat.
Their sort of like lefty activists getting gang raped in Sweden by “youth”, it’s hard to feel sympathetic for them now, but their vote will go a long way towards victim recovery.

  8. I wonder how many American voters actually understand the separation of powers, what executive power resides with the President, including veto power, and what can only be done with the co-operation of the Senate and the House of Representatives?
Likewise, how the Constitution works, or is supposed to, including the Bill of Rights?
There should be reality game shows on the subject with celebrity hosts.
That might raise the level of political debate.

  9. Hey Jim, all politicians are statists to some degree. Don’t think you’re morally superior because you vote for neither out of principle. Pick the lesser of two evils. That’s what grownups do.

  10. This is why they have become so unhinged. This is not merely a Carter moment for them. This is the moment when millions of “lifelong” Democrats wake up and smell the coffee. Change is coming but it’s not what they hoped for.

  11. What do you expect from a so called “president” who arrives at the office at between 9:30 and 10:00am and checks out by 4:30pm each day?
Of course, Barry never did intend to keep any of these promises.

  12. Be careful…just because he repeats words that are completely without meaning doesn’t mean some folks won’t listen to those words. Isn’t that what Hollywood is all about?

  13. Average I.Q. of Rep. speakers at their convention.. 112-118.. Average Dem, same thing.. 86-92..lol.. Just a guess.

  14. “No! I won’t shut up.”
That comment fron Clint, IMO, upset the Obama-nites as much as the empty chair.

  15. I’m sorry, but right now I have little but contempt for these people. I mean we need their votes, sure, so hop on board, idiots. Obama never for one second looked like anything other than a far-left socialist and an empty grifter to me, so I have no sympathy. None. Genius @0:35 – “I needed some sort of inspiration of hope, because I was at a point of my life where I was hopeless “ – she’s exactly why, as Kathy Shaidle likes to say, women should not be allowed to vote. Over/under she voted for Barack because her boyfriend had just dumped her?
Anyway, via Ace, here’s a 17 second “Democratic Convention video” which says “Government is the only thing we all belong to”. Who could invent this?

  16. I hope our “professional” journalists are paying attention. And I hope they are also busy at work developing real and useful skills for their Plan B. Skills such as learning how to heat a shelter using old newspaper.

  17. TJ, of course it’s “a sorry reflection on the ability of democracy to take us in a good direction,” but we don’t have democracy because of that (dis)ability to take us in a good direction. The only thing democracy is really good for is that when the government is going in the wrong direction, as a government of any sort eventually will, we can change it with out a rebellion, revolution, coup or civil war.

  18. she’s exactly why, as Kathy Shaidle likes to say, women should not be allowed to vote.
    yes and no…
there should be short written quiz before one gets the right to vote, and since most women know nothing about politics, most women would not be allowed to vote
of course that would eliminate a lot of men but far more women
I have read tons of article that provide tons of studies and graphs that show that far more women than men lack ” scientific curiosity”
and if one has no such curiosity it is doutful one knows why they are even voting and what the candidates stand for
The more I know , the more I hate democracy; it only gives a voice to ignorant/stupid people and they all drag us down in the end ” in the name of democracy”

  19. Tards, “Government is the only thing that we all belong to.”
    Clint, “We own this country.”
    See the difference?

  20. Tooner, that’s precisely right. People don’t vote for a change with much enthusiasm. They vote against a government that’s worn out its welcome. 2008 was a referendum on Bush. 2012 is going to be a referendum on Obama.

  21. Canadian friend’ remember Turdough or were you to young. You are so right, women, urged on by the CBC and other sychophant newsies created a myth around the ugly duckling Peeair that he had an Einstein IQ, he could hold back Niagra Falls etc. so they voted for the homeley prick en-masse, if he’d been the poor neighbor boy across the way not a one of the women that voted for the dick would have dated him, let alone voted for him, but the media created Turdoughmania, the same as Obongomonium in the US. Well America, the prize at the bottom of the Cracker Jacks box is not a date with the “one”, but merely a stinking dog turd with a huge cleanup bill, just ask any Canadian how much our commie Peeair Idiot Turdough cost us, good luck.

  22. Don’t like the price of bread this year, get Obamba to dilute the US currency further with another Trillion in Quantitative Easing, and see how it all looks next year.

  23. bartinsky
I was only 8 years old when Trudeau got elected but I remember my parents being discouraged when it had been revealed ( in some tv show) that a lot of women voted for trudeau because they were
    ” charmed” by him
in other words; because they would have said yes to a date with him they voted for him
    like 13 year old girls
That is not democracy it is encouraging imbecility
I am not saying all women are like that, but too many are …sadly

  24. Canadian Friend at September 4, 2012 9:44 PM – the only problem with this is the question of who designs and administers the tests. i.e., the whole cannoli. Such tests were abused from reconstruction through to the civil rights movement in much of the South, so they’re forever tainted.
    We might be screwed.

  25. A knowledge test, in order to earn to right to vote. How very interesting….
But, wouldn’t a repetitive right wing government (the obvious conclusion), eventually become corrupt? Or, perhaps, that AND infiltrated via Redford type lefties…
There is never a final solution it seems. Not even here in Alberta.

  26. Canadian Friend, “The more I know , the more I hate democracy; it only gives a voice to ignorant/stupid people and they all drag us down in the end ” in the name of democracy”.
I know, sometimes it seems pathetic what actually motivates people to vote for a non substance candidate. But I think Winston Churchill said something like Democracy is a poor system, but the alternative is worse. Some on this blog have seen the alternative.

  27. I still say Debbie Whatsrname Schlitz. has the best teeth I’ve ever cumm across……….
I’m The anti-left and I approve this public service announcement…

  28. Fix the flaw inherent in democracy in three easy steps;
    Suck oxygen = one vote
Suck O2 and pay property tax = two votes
Suck O2, pay property AND income tax = three votes.
Balance restored between the forces for consumption, and the carrying capacity of production.
And while we are at it, a Constitutional amendment that limits all forms of government to no more than 30% of GDP.
We could even explore one that limits their borrowing powers, a.k.a. “passing the buck” to the next set of politicos and their sheeple.

  29. I’d much rather have people admit they made a mistake rather than backing a total zero until the bitter end. Those who learn from their mistakes are a lot more flexible than those who keep on repeating the same erroneous action.
As Ken alluded to, democracy is a crappy system but far better than the alternatives. The main advantage of democracy, when compared with a totalitarian system, is that one can vote the bastards out.
People have individual reasons to vote for a particular candidate and I’d estimate that fewer than 20% of voters are familiar with what candidates really stand for. Elections have become a more complex version of newly hatched seagulls following the biggest red circle. It takes a lot of insight to understand what factors influence people to act as they do and the vast majority of people don’t know they’re being manipulated — that is unless they have very strong beliefs regarding individual rights. I highly recommend Cialdini’s book Influence to see how people can be manipulated seemingly against their will. In many situations, we’re the equivalent of Pavlov’s dogs but the difference between us and dogs is that we can learn to recognize those situations. It’s also known as maturity.

  30. Women voting because they could care less is a red herring.
Women who do vote constituently are very aware of Politics. The ones you worry about, vote for usually for a “man” who has become a “charismatic figure, hence a social fad of the year.
Some are involved because its a social issue for socialites.
The sad truth is most Women don’t vote ever. My partner at work was 30 when I convinced her to at least do it once in her life. She felt politics did nothing. All of her friends, plus Girlfriends Ive had , including cousins & sister, Mothers aunts . You name it female, have all felt the same way. Women like Kate , Kathy at FFF. SDA Ladies like Black Mamba with the other Ladies who are regulars, are not the norm.
These Women think beyond the next day.
They see Political action as impacting their lives, for good or ill.
I don’t think its a weakness in Women or sign of being stupid.
Just not truly important to most Ladies.
Than again, what do I really know about the female gender?

  31. I see facts and reality dont matter to you right wingers.
The repubs ruined the ecomony with two wars, tax breaks for the Rich.
I have to admit im impressed by how you all stick to your outdated ( soon to be extinct )closed minded idiology.
Moving forward the next generation is more informed and will reject the right wing. Harper is toast soon as well.
I doubt you will ever see a repug administartion ( wrong wingers) again as all You oldtimers die off.

  32. Obama and Trudeau’s elections simply show that the majority of voters, male or female, can be swayed by propoganda and a desire for something better. When was the last Canadian federal election, or American, ran on ideas rather than personality. Harper is the closest thing we have had to an ideas guy and even he had to resort to generalities.
So many politicans fear Ron Paul because he is only about ideas. I guess our equivalent, excluding the hairdo was Preston Manning. It is intellectually demeaning and does expose the major weakness of democracy. A population that largely does not deserve the liberty it provides.

  33. Gary, you’re either really funny, really ignorant, or really stupid.
You do understand, do you not, that the two major things that have bankrupted America are:
    1. Overly generous healthcare & social programs that are simply unaffordable.
    2. A government initiative that insisted that every American own his own house, even if they couldn’t afford it.
BOTH of these issues were mostly caused by the political Left in the U.S.
    You DO understand this, yes?!
P.S. Is your socialist comrade, Thomas Mulcair, going to be the one to replace Stephen Harper?

  34. “that every American own his own house”
And we now know that obozo played an active role in advancing this initiative during his community organizing days.
