Opinon for Americans, from Canadian media

Realizing that US citizens aren’t getting the information they need to make an informed decision in November, I offer you two opinions from Canukistan.
Paul Wells on Wednesday.

There is nothing in any of the three main parties’ statements to match the subordinate clause that begins this sentence from U.S. President Barack Obama’s statement today: “While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.”

Brian Lilley today:

A few of my American friends have been asking lately if they can trade Barack Obama for Stephen Harper. Given polling on Obama’s popularity in Canada, most Canucks would likely take the deal but we’d be fools for doing so.

I should note, that when Paul Wells calls you a sap…well…you’re a sap.

  1. The problem with Obama is that he is unwilling to accept responsibility for his own actions. The death of the ambassador in Libya, is in his mind the fault of a nobody American film maker. Not, the failed foreign policy of the the United State. Which is, of course all Bush’s fault any way.

  2. the bear, exactly right. But to be more specific, it’s not the failed policy of the US but the failed policy of the Do-Nothing, See-Nothing Obama.
I place the blame totally and completely on him, for his abandonment of the ME to the thugs of Iran and Russia.
When one type of governing infrastructure collapses, ie, military dictatorships, it is naive to the utmost to think that an entirely new, unknown to the region new infrastructure, ie, democracy will readily spring up in a transfigurating instant. The region required assistance to set up the infrastructure, ie, a constitution, an electoral system, a representative legislature.
What did Obama do? Nothing. He apologized for being an American, he praised them for all their totally non-existent accomplishments, and he, a narcissist, puffed himself up as they cheered him. And then, he walked away to yet another campaign style audience, to woo and win them over to his Ego.
Result? The below the scenes, simmering age old ethnic adversaries emerged, the old conflicts between this and that sect, this and that region, this and that family, kin group all emerged to fight for power. Iran readily moved in to take advantage and build these adversaries into its own network for its own imperialist agenda. Russia moved into assist Iran.
Result? A diabolical mess. Created by? The Great Empty Chair: Obama.

  3. If anyone is an expert on saps, it would be Paul Wells.
    And Jeff Simpson.
And . . . ohhhhhhh the list is just too long.

  4. Oh yeah. Trading Harper for the Big 0 would be a bad deal for Canada. Shudder.
Harper isn’t exciting or particularly right-wing enough for me but he’s a decent person, and I believe his salami slice approach to the FedGov is probably more electorally palatable than my Genghis Khan ( pile their skulls in pyramids) like one.
I’m thinking Romney is the the American Harper, basically decent guy doing what he thinks he can.
There;s a lot to be said for that if time permits.

  5. You are right on tow counts in this missive;
    1) Paul Wells is a professional sap and knows one when he sees one.
    2) If President BamBam is appalled by “senseless violence” he’s in the wrong job as senseless violence is the natural byproduct of bad government policy.

  6. I’m so grateful for news media in other countries right now, especially Canada and the U.K. Our own traitorous media will never tell us the truth.

  7. Not only does Obama lay the blame on the the American film maker for the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and the three other Americans, he also says he expected better security from Libya — and now expects better security from other foreign embassies.
What a wimp. It was up to the Americans to provide top-level security for their personnel. My sense is that Obama left them completely vulnerable, even though he must have known — and it’s reported that intelligence knew about the possibility of attacks at least 24 hours before they happened — that they were in danger.
Obama’s the do-nothing, know-nothing, take-responsibility-for-nothing POTUS. He’s not worthy of the office and makes a mockery of it.

  8. Gosh, I’m glad I got the point.
I mean, I was going to respond: Paul Wells is a dickhead.
But now that I know better:
While Canadians embrace freedom of the press and freedom of expression, we must all unequivocally conclude that Paul Wells is a dickhead.

  9. Harper for Obama!? Not bloody likely!
That’s akin to trading Sid Crosby for O.J.Simpson!
No thanks, as the world wakes up to the fact that Canada is one well-led Country, we’ll probably hear many more joking remarks asking for a trade for their guy,and it does give us a “heh-heh” moment, but in all seriousness, NO!

  10. Obama over Harper? That would be like a even swap between a Ladda and a Mercedes.

    Good assessment peterj.
IMO, some people underestimate Mr. Oh! in America. He is very successful in doing what he intended to do: bankrupt America and bring the American people to their knees; then burn the Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Fire breathing, human hating Bolsheviks view ‘success’ as just what Mr. Oh! has done so far…and he has blazed the path for future such ‘success’ in United States and then the world. IMO,Mr. Oh! has his sights set on being President of the UN when/if (I pray not) that egregious gang of thugs manage to take over globally. The ‘other guy’ that Americans are running for President is of the same bent in so many ways….I am still praying for a miracle and that I may wake up in Oct to hear that Presidential Candidate Dr. Ron Paul will be debating Mr. Oh! on the future of Fed and the Constitution.
I pray for America on a regular basis as it is the bastion of the Free World and because so many excellent people live there. In God we must Trust.
