What could have been.

A source familiar with the creation of the ad says the RNC leadership approved the ad but it was scrapped at the last minute because of objections from the Romney campaign, which was concerned the ad would distract from Romney’s efforts to focus on the economy.

  1. Whatsamatta johnny? Don’t like it when Barry gets exposed for what he is? We should all just shut up and get back to paying taxes, is that it?
Say johhny. For the sake of argument, I’ll grant your assertion regarding Bush, that it was a massive fail. In your mind, do you think there’s a difference between failing to prevent an attack and ordering relief teams not to respond to the cries for help from guys actually -in- an attack?
    Just wondering.

  2. Romney far right?
This is a Canadian blog we could not vote in your election so go yell somewhere else.
Bush new, please next you will be saying Justin Trudeau is smart.

  3. Right. Like all the chumps who work for Walmart who rely on government help so that company executives can take home tens of millions.”
    Jealous much?

  4. So you think that because you believe Bush made a mistake that it’s permissible to forgive Obama/Clinton?
What kind of a twisted moral compass do you leftward leaning loonies follow?

  5. The only thing that stands clear to me about the last U.S. election is that the republicans deliberately sabotaged their own chances. Replaying the moves in the last election it is as obvious as a blue sky that Romney was a poor choice to start and when he did so well in the first debate, he was told to go to sleep. The real aggressive ads were pulled because he was getting traction. Anyone who believes that Romney was ever in charge of his own campaign is dreaming.

  6. Except this ad was cooked up by the RNC and kyboshed by Romney which kind of blows away your establishment sabotage theory. The truth is Romney fell for the conservative trap that attacking your opponent is somehow undignified. He ran the damn good guy campaign ala McCain.

  7. The GOP purposely lost that election. Frankly because there is no difference of any substance between Politicians any more. Its just who get the most loot out of over taxed citizens. In Canada we have the spectacle now of a Conservative PM becoming the de-facto head of the abortionists. He scuttled the free speech bill. The gun registry has not stopped duck hunters from illegal search & seizure Nor has the list disappeared. The only substantial thing Harper & his Red Tories have done is the CWB. Which for pragmatic reasons, it being the rally point of Western separation. They did for only political motives.
    To shut the West up.
Harper has only barely delayed the rot. Now he’s gone full bloom socialist. Alienating his own base. Not smart.
Power decays minds is my only explanation. That with being surrounded with yes men with their own agendas.I used to like Harper ,but was uneasy where he stood on platform. Now we know. He’s just another Joe Clark, with better theatre.
No one left to vote for . The other parties will only quicken our downfall.
Comparing an attack that might come to an actual one where you allow people to die as you watch as a comparison is so overboard in reality. You become an extra on Dr WHO.

  8. Rev –
Democracy has been history for quite some time.
All ballot choices are screened only for public acting skills.
No employer would hire a neophyte without a personal background search, a skills test, an IQ test or most importantly a Myers-Briggs personality assessment.
There are those who claim you have no right to complain unless you cast a vote.
I’d counter that argument with if you voted you made your choice and be quiet.
Only those that didn’t vote have the unabrogated right to complain.
I’d be the first at the polling station if there was a NOTA (None OF The Above) option on the ballot.
A win by NOTA would scare the bejesus out of the political cabal – that’s why it’s not there.

  9. that attack add may have helped win the election, but now the fallout may help destroy the dems and impeach the won

  10. Obama will never be destroyed by this. He’s there for the long term (hopefully the last term). A majority of people (albeit slight) voted for him (even though some were dead at the time). The basic reality regarding those who voted for him? THEY DON’T CARE.

  11. Agreed, and furthermore, there are Democrats in high places that will squelch any attempt that could lead to impeachment.
Revnant Dream, it does seem that way doesn’t it. Maybe he is pulling a Mulroney or someone has told him how things actually operate in the corridors of power.

  12. Rev;
What conservative politican has not ‘pulled’ his punches in hopes of attracting the center voters. Right or wrong I believe that PMSH’s mindset is such that he realizes that majority government rests in the middle. My belief has always been that the philosophy should dominate. It is the only method of preventing misdirection by those trying to change the political direction or by those trying to profit.
By what method is conservative thought promoted or even taught to those who come after the current group in power. Does the next CPC leadership simply become a group who gain control of the ‘brand’ and bend it to their own desires? It has happened in the past and that is why Reform came along. The biggest threat to the CPC is the vestiges of the Progressive Conservatives who merged with Alliance. Are they any different than Redford’s excuse for a conservative party?
If there was a serious conservative movement in Canada there would be a directed effort to educate Canadians to the rationale that drives the movement. Manning was doing this work under Reform and Harper had that experience. Who is doing it now? Nobody to my knowledge. This is grassroots work. It tells me that CPC leadership does not trust the grassroots and does not want their input. It is not a question of money as the Party is well funded.
