  1. Strange new respect for Joe Clark at CTV when commenting on the Senate ‘scandal’ and Canada’s diminished respect in world foreign policy. Oh. And Google tells me that the CBC also has strange new respect for Joe Clark.

  2. Nope: Elizabeth May twerking..…in 3-D.
Seriously, it is kinda funny that that cheap horror-movie promos used to encourage people to buy tickets by saying things like “You’ll soil your pants! You’ll vomit! You won’t sleep for weeks!”
Speaking of horror, and soiled trousers, “Chris Mathews Compares Ted Cruz to Cinematic Child Murderer ‘Freddy Krueger'”.

  3. The Right Scoop:

This is killer. CBS News has several sources telling them that when hundreds of CMS employees tested the Obamacare website in late September, it failed every time. Their sources tell them it was “unequivocally clear” the website wasn’t ready, which as CBS News notes, was in stark contrast to the testimony of the head of CMS Marilyn Tavener in front of Congress.

Testimony, schmestimony — it’s the Dems.

  4. Headline over at the G&M (article behind pay wall):

Senate “Scandal” Supported only by the hyena media?

  5. Breaking: TO Police are reporting that certain people here have a lot of crow to be eaten with respect to the existence of a Rob Ford crack video.

  6. The time-worn axiom of the MBA mentality comes to mind – “You can’t manage what you can’t measure.”
All too often (especially in bureaucratic circles) measurement trumps everything, in that ingenuity and creativity aren’t in their job descriptions. Excel and PowerPoint really do all the work.
    Some topical humour:
The American and the Japanese corporate offices for a large multi-national corporation decided to engage in a competitive boat race. Both teams practiced hard and long to reach their peak performance.
On the big day they felt ready. The Japanese team won by a mile. Afterward, the American team was discouraged by the loss. Morale sagged. Corporate management decided that the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found, so a consulting firm was hired to investigate the problem and recommended corrective action.
The consultant’s finding: The Japanese team had eight people rowing and one person steering; the American team had one person rowing and eight people steering.
After a year of study and millions spent analyzing the problem, the firm concluded that too many people were steering and not enough were rowing on the American team.
So, as race day neared again the following year, the American team’s management structure was completely reorganized. The new structure: four steering managers, three area steering managers and a new performance review system for the person rowing the boat to provide work incentive.
The next year, the Japanese won by two miles. Humiliated, the American office laid-off the rower for poor performance and gave the managers a bonus for discovering the problem.

  12. joe clark owes his last election to the liberals. in the days when the reform party ran against the conservatives , the liberals pulled their candidate in the last week such that the liberal lites went to joe. he won and reform lost , one of the few conservative wins in Calgary that year.

  13. Indeed, K. Stricker. As the police confirmed, the video DOES NOT show the mayor smoking crack. Because if it did, it would be grounds for laying charges, wouldn’t it? And they have no grounds on which to lay charges, do they?
But if it’s any consolation: for months I’ve been saying that there seems to exist a video that shows Ford horsing around with a couple of disreputable constituents and playfully puffing on a pipe, although no one’s ever seen it. And now… someone’s seen it! Boy, is my face red!
