  1. New link? http://www.delmartimes.net/news/2015/mar/11/del-mar-city-council-sea-level-rise/ “A $100,000 grant from the California Ocean Protection Council will help cover the costs. Del Mar applied for the grant in November 2013, but it was awarded to the city of Solana Beach.” The money already went somewhere else.
“Del Mar has also budgeted nearly $78,000 from the city’s general funds and more than $22,000 in in-kind services from city staff.” with the “in in-kind” part being ‘Orwellian’ for already being spent.

  2. I missed the part where they said how much the sea has already risen, necessitating further costly planning.

  3. Har. Just the thing when California is turning into a dust bowl!
It reminds me of the time when, under Pierre Trudeau, the Canadian gov’t paid us here to promote metrication (physicists have used metric units from the outset; electrical units are all metric).
Well, we thought about being honest, but instead chose to run laughing to the bank.

  4. Illiteracy, innumeracy and superstition run rampant amongst California’s elected elite and progressive bureaucracies (and they’re certainly not alone in their stupidity. Take Ontario. Please). Let us not forget the wise elders of the city of Aliso Viejo, who – almost – banned WATER, falling for the classic “ban dihydrogen monoxide” ruse. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/4534017/#.VQNJ-Y7F-K8

  5. So California. Spending money they don’t have for another really stupid reason. I could suggest to them that they could use this money to pay down their debt….. but in order for them to do that they would actually have to borrow more money…… Stupid knows no bounds. So true.
