  1. What is that word?
    Epiphany?
Where a citizen, attempting to correct a small over reach/error by our bureaucrats, suddenly realizes we are in fact governed, ruled and regulated by extremely stupid people.
    Good Enough For Government.
We need a catchy acronym to spread the love.
Bureaucracy the only product of government, is like fire.
A useful servant when ruthlessly controlled.
    Totally destructive when unwatched.

The logical question for those who wish to expand government, who has to tend the fire?
cause we have 60 years of emperical evidence here in Canada, that politicians are unable to control the monster they insisted on creating.
The bureaus are out of control and burning up our resources and kids futures.
Once again, can any one point to an example of successful negotiation between parasite and host?
    in human history?

  3. I suggested on their comments section that it might be worthwhile to publicize the names of the governments which have refused to pay up. We watch with continued interest.

  4. Well stated joihnrobertson and yes indeed we do watch with interest.

  5. In the government bureaucracy the “Peter” principle works at every level beyond base entry clerk.

  6. Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people:
First, there will be those who are devoted to the goals of the organization. Examples are dedicated classroom teachers in an educational bureaucracy, many of the engineers and launch technicians and scientists at NASA, even some agricultural scientists and advisors in the former Soviet Union collective farming administration.
Secondly, there will be those dedicated to the organization itself. Examples are many of the administrators in the education system, many professors of education, many teachers union officials, much of the NASA headquarters staff, etc.
The Iron Law states that in every case the second group will gain and keep control of the organization. It will write the rules, and control promotions within the organization.

  7. So then the “Peter” principle would pertain to the second category as the first category are all the people at the base or ground level and have no command functions?

  8. exactly !!
Most bureaucrats are at least two promotions above their level of incompetence, where they sit doing as little as possible, for fear of jeopardizing that fat retirement pension.
The only goal of a bureaucracy is to make the bureaucracy bigger.

  9. “Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy”
Seems to me that the description of the second group fits the EU to a “T”, with the added entertainment value of a bureaucracy trying to make itself into aristocracy.
No wonder the Brit’s wanted out!
