Canadian coal fired plants with modern stack scrubber technology are NOT a major contributor to global toxic pollution. Neither are the ones in Europe that are similarly equipped with scrubbers.
Approximately 90% of the global toxic pollution from burning coal comes from Asia and India where very few coal burners use stack scrubbing to remove toxic pollution. Most of the coal burned in Asia is used to produce the disposable consumer shít that N.Americans and Europeans love to buy and throw in their dumps.
Canadians shutting down their relatively clean coal fired plants and replacing them with wind turbines and solar panels made by burning dirty coal with no stack scrubbing in Asia, is like someone shooting at their feet in a rowboat in the middle of a lake. Stupid is what stupid does.
