Voting irregularities in Detroit have spurred plans for an audit by Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson’s office, Elections Director Chris Thomas said Monday.
State officials are planning to examine about 20 Detroit precincts where ballot boxes opened during the recount had fewer ballots than poll workers had recorded on Election Day.
“We’re assuming there were (human) errors, and we will have discussions with Detroit election officials and staff in addition to reviewing the ballots,” Thomas said.
The Detroit precincts are among those that couldn’t be counted during a statewide presidential recount that began last week and ended Friday following a decision by the Michigan Supreme Court.
The recount problems were the worst in Detroit, where discrepancies meant officials couldn’t recount votes in 392 of the city’s 662 precincts, or nearly 60 percent. State law that bars recounts for unbalanced precincts or ones with broken seals.
Democrat Hillary Clinton overwhelmingly prevailed in Detroit and Wayne County.
In one precinct the ballot box contained only 50 ballots. The poll book showed 306 were counted.

Is it just me, or is 392 (# of districts) X 256 (Number of Stuffed Ballots/district) = 100,352 sound an awful lot like a number that some high level campaign manager might just target, i.e. “we need 100,000 stuffers in this state”

Well. This begs some questions. How long exactly, has Detroit NOT been voting overwhelmingly Democrat? How many black voters have Democrat operatives disenfranchised by discarding Republican ballots? Did they give up and stop voting, or were their ballots discarded by partisans? How many of these precincts had Republican observers, how many Republicans were forcibly ejected against the rule of law?
In Canadian polls the most important piece of paper after the votes are counted on election night is the Statement of the Vote. Total votes cast and counted must=number of electors who voted.
The form is signed by the Deputy Returning officer, the poll clerk, and 2 witnesses usually 2 scrutineers who all witnessed the count.
In Detroit it appears the numbers in the poll book were purposely inflated. In the one poll where there were 250 votes too many, how many of those extra votes were placed in the Democrat column?

IMO the video taken to explain this news item missed the story. There is no need to stuff the ballot box with illegal votes if poll workers simply make up fake numbers. They can get away with this because the ballots are usually never looked at again unless there have been irregularities at the poll or an official recount has been ordered.
