Bill’s Wife

Still losing…

“It astounds me that the press still doesn’t get it, that my party (Democrats) are blaming everyone but themselves for a poor message, poor messenger and the responsibility she bears for placing her email security in jeopardy . . . it’s not Comey’s fault. It’s hers,” said Elizabeth who was sitting in the booth across the aisle.
Elizabeth voted for Clinton, but wasn’t sure she’d do so again. “The way everyone is acting now post-election shows that no one, no one, has learned anything. She is just proving she deserved to lose,” she said.
What the political class astoundingly still doesn’t get is that people, even those who supported Clinton, are tired of Trump’s win being blamed on fake news, the Comey letter and the Russians.
They’re tired of every story about the election beginning with “But, Hillary won the popular vote.” And they’re tired of protesters protesting something they can’t change.
And they’re clearly not alone.

More.

  1. There’s no doubt Clinton was a hugely unpopular candidate for whatever reason. I’m the type to read sexism into a lot of the affective dislike of Clinton, and I’m sure a lot of people on this site would have a lot to say to me about that. Anyway, that’s beyond the point. I wouldn’t have voted for her either, if I were American. Mostly because if she was president then by 2020 it’d’ve been nearly 40 years solid (or 45, depending on how you count) with either a Clinton or a Bush in some kind of high in the executive branch. It’s just enough already.
Anyway, we shouldn’t minimize the spuriousness of the email story–the hacking was absolutely Russian, it was absolutely intended to affect the election, and it absolutely was a nonstory with no evidence of any wrongdoing whatsoever uncovered.
And what Comey did a week out from the election–reminding everyone of that vague thing they knew was bad about Clinton for some reason–was absolutely unprecedented and a total political move. There’s no question about it. None.
Finally, the fake news issue is also relevant. The right wing has constructed for itself an alternate universe (hello everyone on this blog!). That matters. That’s an issue. We still need to discuss it, even if Clinton was an unlikable candidate who ran a mediocre campaign.
So yeah, those things absolutely do matter, and they matter a lot.

  2. Anyway, we shouldn’t minimize the spuriousness of the email story–the hacking was absolutely Russian, it was absolutely intended to affect the election, and it absolutely was a nonstory with no evidence of any wrongdoing whatsoever uncovered.
Russian? No. Unless you have proof that Assange is blatantly lying – which they’ve got a history of telling the truth. And the FBI about the status of the RNC being hacked – it wasn’t.
Intended ? Sure. Or are you saying it’s illegal to influence an election if the person targeted is a democrat? And before you get on your high horse about foreign influence – how many governments did Hillary and the Obama WH mess with in the last eight years? It’s on record.
No evidence? Oh, god. You mean rigging debate times, getting questions pre-fed from the press, having the press come to you to OK stories before release, proving Hillary blatantly lied about a number of things, that Hillary hypocritically takes money from the very people she knows are throwing gay people off rooftops, stoning women, and funding ISIS? Nope, nothing wrong at all. Not. A. Thing.
Funny how she can take money from other countries via a charity that gives less than three percent to it’s “intended” cause, and sell uranium reserves to the russians, but somehow foreign influence isn’t an issue when it helps her.
As to emails. Aside from the podesta emails, she blatantly violated so many security protocols her ass should be in the deepest darkest hole in Leavenworth . In a world where someone notifying their command that someone suspicious outside of the base was impersonating police was put in prison for using his gmail account, the most secure place her emails were was at google, while being transferred between servers.
That one paragraph shows you are either ignorant, or a moron. I hope it’s the former, that at least may be cured.

  3. Fake news
Like the NG papers from Dan Rather? Like chopping audio of Zimmerman to make him sound racist? Like editing out questions and answers between two parts of an interview to make a gun user sound like a nutjob? Like doing everything they can to hope and pray a shooter is a right-wing nutjob everytime a muslim goes on a shooting/hacking/road rage spree? like editing video of a black man with an AR rifle down so you can’t see his skin color and then proclaiming it’s angry “white” people bringing guns? Like promulgating the lie of “hands up don’t shoot”? Like constantly, observably downplaying the role of some demgraphics in crime and violence to the point we know who did it based on the sudden lack of description? Like taking a black lives matter rant and cutting off “go burn their neighborhoods” and portraying it as a call for peace?
Oh, wait, that’s all legit stuff we should pay attention to.
    Moron.

  4. Actually they know damn well why Trump won and they don’t want anyone else that has the ability to stop them catching on.
Trump, unlike so many leaders on the right did not have a spine made of jello.
He hit back at the punditry, his political opposition, the operatives posing as journos, and the activists demanding he make his position on any issue conditional.
    The logic goes like this.
“That conservative position is going to be considered “xxxxxxist” unless you recant.”
Politician is to immediately explain away any fears of those that would never vote for them and in the process makes those who would vote for them stay home on election day.
The point is that there is a legion of voters out there that would vote for the conservatives except for the fact they can never find the conservative champion on the ballot come election day.

  5. Alright! This is exactly what I wanted! A real life encounter with the right-wing alternate universe! I’d like to issue you a challenge. Can you find a single source from outside the right-wing alternate universe that confirms any of your assertions? If you can, then we can talk about it! If not, then I’ll feel very, very comfortable dismissing most of your assertions out of hand.
I’ll make a list of the assertions I’ll answer now (because they’re not embedded in the right-wing alternate universe) and a list of those that I won’t (because they are).
Things I can talk about now:
    1) Assange: I mean, he’d know what the source is, sure. And he has to protect that source. But we can’t be 100% sure he knows exactly why that source acted, or in service of what interest. So no, I don’t have to prove he’s not lying: he simply has exactly the same problem the FBI & the CIA do when they claim Russia is responsible for the hack, which is they can’t reveal how they know that. Stalemate on that question.
But beyond wikileaks wasn’t the only source of hacked emails. So the Assange point doesn’t cover the whole issue.
    2) On the question of illegality, no, I am not saying anything about legality. So that answers that. Whether it’s legal or not, it’s still relevant to the election.
    3) Dona Brazile leaked questions. Clinton took advantage. You would have too.
Everything else has a lot of currency within the right-wing alternate universe. Can you make it intelligible to someone outside of it?

  6. The thing is we don’t want them to stop. The more they double down on this nonsense the better it is. We need to quietly encourage as much of this insanity as possible. Bring back Cindy Sheehan and the rest of the scum sucking losers.

  7. Yep. All that’s bad too. It has nothing to do with what I’m talking about when I refer to the right-wing alternate news universe, though.
I recognize it as an alternate universe because I’m from an alternate universe too! The left-wing alternate universe. (Which by the way has its own–far better–critique of the ‘MSM’ than anything found in the right-wing alternate universe.) The difference is that I understand my world is an alternate universe. I know when my predjudices are being flattered. I know when I’m in an echo chamber. The ‘fake news’ story is relevant because it’s about people who do not realize their prejudices are being flattered, and who do not recognize their own echo chamber.
    See what I’m saying?

  8. “Clinton Campaign Manager John Podesta, who in the immediate aftermath of the election claimed that Clinton lost because the media gave Trump a pass”
Every day there was a new Trump “scandal.” People just thought the media was making everything up. The media’s Trump overkill was disturbing. The mainstream media did a great job with fake news – fake by omission.

  9. “…The right wing has constructed for itself an alternate universe (hello everyone on this blog!). …”
The Left are the ones trying to construct in everyone’s mind an alternate universe. But reality is all the stuff that goes on no matter how hard you don’t believe in it. The essence of being conservative is trying to deal with reality, especially the great portion of it that is unpleasant and dangerous.
And yes, we see what you are saying. Do you not realise that what you are saying looks and sounds exactly like this: ” You are all stupid and I am smart”? We are unconvinced. And if that isn’t what you meant us to think you are saying, you are obviously doing it wrong.

  10. “But, Hillary won the popular vote.” The Presidential popular vote is about as important as a protruding bum crack in the Ms America contest…
If Obama doesn’t grant Hillary a Pardon (unless she requests a Pardon to protect herself from Trump), the odds are 50-1 that Republicans will jail her in 4 years of never ending drama. But, But, But……

  11. I suspect Obama is going to be pardoning at least Hillary and probably a few more in the cabinet. Attorney General Loretta Lynch is going to have some splanen to do about her meeting with Bill Clinton. Attorney General Eric Holder giving guns to Mexican criminals might be questioned. Could be a lot of fun.

  12. The content of the emailed whether hacked or leaked is evidence that the Clinton democrats where trying to corrupt the electoral process as far back as the Bengazi attack.
If this isn’t true then nobody got hacked.
Which demolishes the claim of hacking as there is no smoking gun.
But there is a smoking gun as nobody has of yet claimed the emails that document Hillarys illegal activites are untrue.
So if the losers want to keep claiming a russian hack go ahead as the conclusion is its true that the Clinton Obama machine was breaking the law so why wouldn’t the FBI investigate?

  13. Yes, he does call himself “the Leftist.” And the left’s position since the term was invented is that if we all do what they tell us to do the result will be a society in which there can’t be anything wrong and no one will be bad. To believe it requires a failure to understand that the nature of good includes the possibility of being bad and choosing of our own free will to be otherwise. I.e. freedom. People who are afraid of taking responsibility for their own freedom and facing the consequences choose the leftist alternate universe in which they can do as they please and have whatever they want and there will be no ill consequences. (Which your contributions to this blog have always demonstrated, you know.)

  14. I’ll make a list of the assertions I’ll answer now (because they’re not embedded in the right-wing alternate universe)
    “No true news source” fallacy?
Leaving aside that the news organizations you trust have all repeatedly been proven to lie through their teeth, I’m not going to waste my time collating things back to the original sources and articles to satisfy your curiosity. If you can’t give me the credence to accept that I may have already done a lot of the needed cross verification, and instead argue that I’m living in an imaginary bubble so I have to use sources YOU deem credible, the same ones who insisted that Hillary was a great candidate and would win handily because they never left THEIR bubble, which we were exposed to every day, then you aren’t arguing in good faith.
Your argument boils down to “prove your assertions using only sources *I* find acceptable (which of course largely don’t carry those stories, or minimize them)” and not “prove that they are true.”
Piss off. I was wrong, you are neither an idiot nor ignorant.
    You’re a liar.

  15. Guys, on a related note, notice how between the recent shooting, the videotaped attacks, the faked hate crimes, etc., the ones screaming the loudest about how we live in a bubble and are fascist, racist, sexist, whatevers, are the ones actually ACTING the most like brownshirts? And acting like spoiled children?
    https://voxday.blogspot.com/2016/12/the-emotional-incontinence-of-sjw.html
But then progressives and socialists – including the National Socialists and Communists – have always been birds of a feather.

  16. “the hacking was absolutely Russian”
OK Tim. Can you provide me with proof that the hacking was Russian?

  17. People, people, people. Don’t feed the troll. If you just ignore him and all of his incoherent scratchings he will eventually go away to his mother’s basement. Stop feeding the troll.

  18. R U sure its a Troll?
The flawless exposition of Leftist talking points and smooth leaping over the gaping holes in its logic point more to satire than troll.
Has Progressive Pat upped its game?
I especially love the challenge of “Using only sources I accept” prove…
Believing 6 or more impossible things before breakfast is a true art.
    And then,
“I recognize it as an alternate universe because I’m from an alternate universe too! The left-wing alternate universe. ”
An open acknowledgement of deliberately denying reality..has to be satire.
    Pretty good stuff.
Of course that uncertainty has to remain as the Planet Savers and progressive Do-Gooders are nearly impossible to parody.
    10:10 anyone?

  19. Rigging elections is utterly impossible to do, they say when they think they’re winning, and become not only possible but an actual reality when they realise they’ve lost, but cannot or will not admit to how and why they lost.
There is simply no possible way they can ever lose, and if they do, well someone ain’t playing fair!
