    By any account, the US has certainly been good for her.

  11. Speaking of … “intellectuals”. The number of leftists who self-declare themselves to be “better educated” than all those “populists” always astounds me. Even when they voluntarily display their ignorance (like Bill Nye the Scienci-Guy trying to explain the scientific veracity of Global Warming) … they continue to self-proclaim their “educated” superiority … and in the case of Bill Nye, actually suggest JAILING so-called deniers.
    The HATEFUL arrogance of the LEFT is the most acute form of bigotry. They honestly view ALL conservatives the same way a neo-Nazzi views black welfare mothers. Bigoted and ignorant.
    They reflexively equate a liberal arts college degree as superior to ALL other forms of education. Better than a self-educated voracious reader. Better than a Trade school graduate. Better than a UNION craftsman. Better than a Home-school mother creatively raising her family. Better than any laborer. The LEFTs ignorance is astounding. They have NO IDEA what the average conservative man/woman actually knows and understands. They mock conservatives as “uneducated” simply because it is a way to f-e-e-l superior without being forced to reveal their own woeful ignorance and bias. Listening to Bill Nye repeat the tired old talking points about Global Warming, and never once ATTEMPT to answer Tucker Carlson’s simple, direct question … reveals all you need to know about the “depth” of a LEFTists intelligence. It is a pile of pure rubbish.

  12. I was a Ted Cruze guy originally but Ive come to the realization that he would have lost in the general election. There’s no way he would have resonated the way Trump did. I saw something last night where Trump was entertaining running in 2012 but chose not to. Its a shame. He probably would have stood a good chance of beating barry and thusly limited him to one term. Oh well.

    We can never know because it never happened but I personally doubt that.
    Trump likely assessed Obama as the incumbent president would have been a real uphill struggle for him in 2012.
    Clinton’s reheated and imperious candidacy in 2016 provided a much better opportunity.

  17. kenji: The exception always made is for rock musicians and actors, as long as they sing from the same choir page.
    Thus no one points out that Neil Young dropped out of high school or that Bono has similar credentials; the same may be said for many actors like Leonardo DiCaprio with a GED diploma. Fine nothing whatever wrong with that, nothing in high school or university would benefit a musician’s education that would not be learned playing in a good band. But this could be said of a host of self employed individuals, businessmen, craftsmen. If these people suggest slightly conservative viewpoints, they are pilloried as being ‘uneducated”. Yet spokesmen like Young or DiCaprio are taken seriously when they venture into fields like climatology, for which they have no expertise whatever. Just one of the ironies of the 21 century, that actors and musicians are to be taken seriously when they pontificate on political issues, as long as they express a leftist angle.

  18. If you haven’t yet read Eric Hoffer’s “The True Believer” I urge you to do so. It’s a brilliant analysis of people who become fanatical followers of movements, whether religious or political, and will help you understand the mindset of the Islamic jihadi.
