  1. Here’s how “the narrative” goes … “These are just the minimum perks that government needs to offer in order to RETAIN top flight people, who get paid much, more in the private sector”. And if you believe that? I have a 400mi range Tesla Saloon to sell you … USED … for $ 112k + change

  2. Oh come on they are entitled to their entitlements. This is what Liberal government in Canada is all about – the Porsches.

  3. Liberals are so dumb they can’t even spell “Porsche” – if you look carefully… If you can’t spell Porsche, you probably shouldn’t be driving one. Bad optics for vehicle choice for the Ministry of Climate Change aside, how else can poor Climate Barbie attract her ivy-league educated Ken? No mention of colour choice here, but I would expect one of these vehicles to be electric pink.

  4. Hey, it’s not like the people driving those government-owned luxury vehicles are flouting their own ill-gotten wealth like some owner of a small corporation who uses loopholes to avoid tax. They are driving them on behalf of all of us, as a public service.

  5. The porsches and Mercedes 550 come in hybrid models, so the “excuse” will be that they were either bought for evaluation purposes, or they were the “greenest” options on the market, etc etc.

  6. Duffy was roasted in the LSM, and then went to court and found not guilty, why, because what hew was doing was not unusual. Butt in here there was only a scream of biased media, when we should have been critical of ALL government abuse of the public purse

  7. C’mon now, the Porsches were previously used, possibly by icky small businessmen, so that’s a big step forward for the preening entitlement class.
Also, when the Porsche Cayenne was first introduced, The Sopranos proudly added one to their TV mob family. So, what other SUV could a Liberal possibly feel more at home in?

  8. But but this this is done for the children, we have to stop climate change you pleebs and deplorables, just find me something better to stop climate change than a Porsche. Thanks Juthtin. The collective IQ of Toronto voters would be right up there with the NFL ratings. Your pyjama boy is a winner Mr Mansbridge!

  9. I wonder who previously owned those Porsches, more importantly are the previous owners related to someone in the ministry of environment?

  10. Putting Liberals in charge of ANYTHING is like putting Count Dracula in charge of the blood bank …. stuff will always happen.

  11. Knock on door.
In strong brogue: “Hello Ma’am. My name is Paddy. I’m new to the country and I’m looking for some work to support myself. Do you have any chores I could do?”
“Sure. There’s a can of green paint and a brush in the shed out back. Could you paint the porch?”
    An hour passes.
“Ma’am. I’m done with the painting. Do you have anything else? And by the way it’s not a porch. It’s a BMW.”

  12. Hey, maybe we’ve found a psychology study that actually can be reproduced/repicated:
“According to a study, when people feel they have been morally virtuous by saving the planet through their purchases of organic baby food, for example, it leads to the “licensing [of] selfish and morally questionable behaviour”, otherwise known as “moral balancing” or “compensatory ethics”.
Do Green Products Make Us Better People is published in the latest edition of the journal Psychological Science. Its authors, Canadian psychologists Nina Mazar and Chen-Bo Zhong, argue that people who wear what they call the “halo of green consumerism” are less likely to be kind to others, and more likely to cheat and steal. “Virtuous acts can license subsequent asocial and unethical behaviours,” they write.”

  13. All I know … is that I get PUBLICLY SHAMED whenever I forget to bring my reusable grocery bags with me to the supermarket. It starts with a derisive “look” from the shopper behind me in line, and ends with a sneering checker declaring loudly just how many PAPER bags I will be destroying with this trip to the store. In my local city/state … plastic shopping bags have been outlawed, and paper bags MUST be bought for 10cents each. It is a badge of PRIDE and HONOR to be seen clutching your own reusable Hermes shopping bag for your groceries.
Next: Mandated glass milk bottles, and cloth diapers. The march BACK to an irrationally romanticized era of “simplicity” continues.

  14. They’re saying they were purchased for emissions testing and then re-sold.
Just need receipts for the sale now.

  15. Where did you see that Warren?
    I just checked…(took one for the team)…
CTV and CBC have picked up this story.
    not
    Ha…you thought I was serious??

  16. FYI: when I searched for this story, I found it was reported by Rebel media in Nov. 2016. So these aren’t new purchases but it still shows the Liberals tendency to spend taxpayer money like drunken sailors who just win the lottery. They can swear up and down that it is merely a test but it looks like vanity and immature status seeking to me. Rich kids, or wannabes, who want taxpayers to fund their affluent lifestyle.

  17. So they don’t trust NHTSA emissions testing and have to do their own? Nice try Liberals but I’m not buying it.

  18. First of, besides not being able to spell, I believe the official filling in the request has seriously undervalued the price paid. Checking Porsche Canada, the Hybrid options seem to exist only in the Cayenne $70,000-180,000 and Panamera models $97,000-182,000 MSRP. Very doubtful that these late model Porsches could be had for $63,000. More like the purchases are for Boxter or Cayman, the entry level models and among the most sporty. But, if this is correct there is no reason whatever to be testing them for “Green” qualities; they are designed strictly for performance. I think there is a bit more to this story than the simple request form.
As an aside to this story, when Ont offered a substantial subsidy for Hybrid cars a few individuals did order Porsches well in excess of $100,000, and Ont (meaning taxpayers) paid.

  19. Take more pride in your work.
    As a subversive.
I dump out my cloth bag of cloth bags, all rumpled, crumpled and unwashed then engage the clerk and any customers behind me in conversation about how the next food pandemic will be spawned on this very counter as this is where everyone’s diseased bags come to crossbreed. As I stuff the groceries into them.
Or if I am feeling less nasty, I reminisce, as to how when the first supermarkets opened, they asked us to leave our baskets and bags at home,”please use our plastic bags, our staff will bag your groceries for you…in the name of hygiene.
And when I forget, I insist on using their cart to wheel my groceries out to my truck.

  20. OK … so show the invoices for every car ever sold in Canada, eh? If this is for “testing” … then this agency must be testing ALL cars sold in Canada … no? So where are the invoices for the rest of the thousands of car models that must have needed “testing” as well ? And why are they testing USED Porsches ?
Shame on Canadians if they let their government get away with this.

  21. Sorry but Butts explanation decries belief. the only point in government testing would be when the vehicle was brand new. Used cars particularly Porsches could have all sorts of modifications, could be out of tune, could be damaged etc. What would such a test be worth?
Secondly, why would the government have to buy a vehicle simply to test it? The federal government has considerable powers, and persuasive methods. Porsche Canada could be asked to supply a vehicle for a few hours, why would they refuse? And aren’t these figures published somewhere already?
In any government job at any level, I have never heard of a supervisor sending someone around to shop for a used item, particularly a used car. And this is the Federal Liberals shopping for used Porsches?
Some more investigation is called for here, just where is CBC/CTV and their investigative journalists?
