O, Sweet Saint Of San Andreas

American Thinker;

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), shrubs and live and dead vegetation are the most important factor in forest fires, being an easily ignitable fuel source that helps spread the flames quickly over vast distances. For a dry and warm state prone to fires, regular clearing measures removing this vegetation should be common sense. However, California has enacted several laws that heavily restrict such vital fire-preventing measures as logging, removal of dead trees, and clearing of dry underbrush.

  1. Not only are those fires NOT climate change, they are made WORSE by their own policies.
    It’s like standing in a pool of gasoline, thinking you are safe by holding up a sign that says ‘No Smoking’.

  2. That’s what happens when enviro-nuts make the laws. “SAVE THE TREES!”
    A few years ago, devastating fires in Australia were blamed on global warming, but their effect was similarly made so much worse by “environmentally friendly” legislation banning the clearing of trees and brush from private property. I recall reading about one rural resident who cleared his property and had to pay a huge fine as a result. But his law-abiding neighbours were all burned out and he wasn’t. Seems the fine was worth it.

  3. I would have stopped the fire fighters using any water that could be used to save the delta smelt.

  4. Hope he sent an account to his property insurers, and copies to his neighbours’ property insurers.

    I got a 20 page document, ever growing, cases of Karma CLOBBERING those who have been unwarranted abusive of me.
    anyway, I wonder if ANY enviro cleanup programs were shelved due to limited budget in turn due to the 10s of BILLIONS put into the coffers of the prison union and THAT in turn due to the ‘3 strikes’ law that put SHOPLIFTERS in prison for, yup, MANDATORY t-w-e-n-t-y-p-l-u-s year prison terms.

  6. Yes, commercial thinning is important, for that reason and for increased tree growth.

  7. Rocket science warning:

    If only we had known!
