When The President Does It, That Means That It’s Not Illegal

Obama’s spying scandal is starting to look a lot like Watergate;

F.B.I. Used Informant to Investigate Russia Ties to Campaign, Not to Spy, as Trump Claims,” read the headline on a lengthy New York Times story May 18. “The Justice Department used a suspected informant to probe whether Trump campaign aides were making improper contacts with Russia in 2016,” read a story in the May 21 edition of the Wall Street Journal.

So much for those who dismissed charges of Obama administration infiltration of Donald Trump’s campaign as paranoid fantasy. Defenders of the Obama intelligence and law enforcement apparat have had to fall back on the argument that this infiltration was for Trump’s — and the nation’s — own good.

It’s an argument that evidently didn’t occur to Richard Nixon’s defenders when it became clear that Nixon operatives had burglarized and wiretapped the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters in June 1972.

Related.   ” Bad as these latest developments are, however, they pale in comparison to looming negative consequences now that the State Department has begun dribbling out more than 30,000 missing Clinton emails, together with supporting attachments.”

  1. Under the radar, and I suspect the centerpiece for any impeachment effort should the Democrats take the house…there is currently a new IG investigation in the State Department where “whistleblowers” are claiming they were removed from their career positions to do menial labor and away from their specialties. An example is an Iranian born worker who was instrumental in the formation of the Iranian deal. This investigation was requested by Reps. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., and Eliot Engel, D-N.Y. and is gaining steam. I suspect it will pierce the news cycle shortly and dominate every time something negative pops on the Clinton email investigation (finalized DOJ/FBI IG report set to drop this week btw). Cummings and Engel are trying to turn this into a “retaliation” situation. I can’t see it being a violation of any laws, but since when did that matter? Most people will see this as a positive, while the media will call it a travesty and an abuse of power. They’ll eventually go Judge shopping and be ordered to return these people to their original positions.

    1. Addendum: The unique twist in this whole scenario I mentioned is that when Rex Tillerson was running State, he took a lot of these career position holders and moved them into Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) positions to accommodate the voluminous backlog of requests that State was, basically, ignoring. So, instead of influencing policy and obstructing performance due to their deeply held ideology, they were forced to process FOIA requests that will likely find many of them involved in policy that will highlight their partisan positions. It really is Machiavellian. Almost hilarious.

If the shoe was on the other foot and Trump had a spy in Clinton’s campaign all H would break loose in the media. The media will do its best to bury any malfeasance by Obama and his thugs.

    1. In the uniforms of the United States Armed Forces, the only people who have ever made enemies of the United States see reason, proud to have Donald Trump as their president, and dreaming of the happy day Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Rodham are thrown into prison cells, and the keys are thrown away.

    1. Go look at recent polling for him versus fords trajectory and get back to us.

  3. Read Sharyl Attkisson’s timeline; a must read for all to respond to DeMarxists attempts to spin space & time.

    The DeMarxists and their cohort of sycophants, all slathering up to the trough, have been on this Trump conspiracy since 2015, well before he ran. Methinks they feared him from day one, but became overconfident with Hillary leading in the polls and failed to cover their track, stories and alibis correctly. All they are left with is their idiotic excuses such as we were “protecting” Trump by spying on him.

    Sure, just like they “protected” Hillary? Of course they informed the Trump team about the Russian threat. No?
