Ford Country

Just a few minutes after poll closing, and CTV News has already called the Ontario election for Doug Ford. (currently at 72 PC – 35 NDP – 6 LIBWWAAHAAA – and 1 Green.)

I’m old enough to remember when experts said it was too close to call.

I’m also old enough to remember when it was a surefire-winning strategy to tag an opponent as “just like Trump”. The beauty of this result is that they’ll learn nothing from it.

Thread open for your comments and reaction. (For #sadfaces click here).

Oh, plus this.

  1. Congrats to Ontario. And a black eye to the media cartel who we calling the race as “neck and neck”. Lot’s of sleaze and dishonesty here.

  2. What were the numbers for popular vote?

As pure numbers, how many votes were for the pretend conservatives, how many for the pretend liberals and how many for the real, actual socialists?

    Do (sic) anybody know?

  3. Yippee! Congrats Premier Ford! Notice how the media is not trying to create Singh Nation?

  4. I’m surprised that late last night, the CTV was still trying to convince Ontario voters that the PC and the NDP were ”neck and neck.” Last time I checked, neck and neck meant something like 51 seats for the PC, and 50 for the NDP.

76 to 39 is a wipe out. 7 for the Liberals is pathetic, and one Green is ”as expected.”

    Hats of to Doug Ford.

Oh, and by the way CTV, the ”poor widow” thing was a cheap trick. Obviously, it failed miserably.

  5. Congratulations to Doug Ford.

Take a page from PDT, and immediately begin fulfilling all the campaign promises you can.

Do not make Trump’s biggest mistake so far, please ruthlessly slash the Liberal and NDP out of the bureaucracy. Throw them out, because all they will do is obstruct everything. Smile, laugh a lot, and mock the Liberals, NDP, and the press unmercifully. Use your own social media and friendly press to get your message out, ACCURATELY and timely.

    1. Throw them out? Throw them in jail.

The OPP has enough on the Liberal pervert mafia to throw the entire former cabinet in prison. It was hushed up because of course it was.

You can do it, Doug. Let’s see what the perverts were playing at, in open court. Then, see to it they’re locked up, and the keys thrown in Lake Ontario.

      1. “The OPP has enough on the Liberal pervert mafia to throw the entire former cabinet in prison. It was hushed up because of course it was.”

Actually it was hushed because this exists only in your head.

  6. Hmm Ontario set the bar & drove a pointed stick into the heathens… No carbon TAX and a sweep of the province…What timid people (MSM) don’t understand is that only a small minority <12% even understand the BS Science fraud and elimination is an easy sell…….. California & Quebec are on their own with the Carbon trading scam.. They can play & con each other… The spud only has Quebec and they are high maintenance…

Watched CBC coverage.. a lackluster Production worse than any i have ever seen (I have seen & worked many)…They were in mourning for the Progressive message, asked could we have done more? …a cheap third class crew missing all the usual trimmings…The CBC network coverage could have been presented by AI robots & data….Do they have any semi-competent staff, or have they all retired.

I think this may help Trump see Canada as a serious adult… Good for Canada that Ontario is back

  7. It seems there’s hope for Ontario yet. 76-39 is a serious ass kicking. Mike Harris would be proud.

  8. Yes, Ford better stick to his promise and kill the carbon tax and stand up to the sissy in Ottawa. If I were in Ontario the single reason I would have voted for Ford is to kill the carbon tax. You kill that and you set back the Green Fascists by years.

And if Kenney wins next year he will hopefully stick it to the sissy too, and then we might finally be getting somewhere.

  9. Congratulations to Doug Ford and the PC Party. Now start cleaning up the corrupt and immoral swamp, starting with the carbon tax, fixing the hydro and energy mess, and the perverted sex ed curriculum. Trying to get industry to come back might take some time.

    1. That probably won’t happen till Shiny Pony is replaced with someone serious about a fair trade deal with President Trump.

For now, I’ll settle for Doug’s smashing Ontario’s pervert mafia.

  10. I will sleep better tonight knowing 2 things.
    1. Doug Ford is premier and will repeal the carbon tax in Ontario
    And
    2. There will be wee little tears on Trudeau’s pillow tonight.
Godspeed Doug. Make your government be a beacon for Conservatism and you can help end the insanity that has gripped Canada for the last 2+ years.

  11. The NEXT carbon taxers to get voted OUT ? The California Governor. See you in November … when Cox becomes the next Gov. of CA … and we CEASE being a Mexican sanctuary

  12. Ford needs to swing the ax fast and hard. No bullshit. GO FAST! The public sector unions will go apeshit. And that’s EXACTLY what you want to see. Don’t screw up like Mulroney did when he won a big majority…..he played nice. Take out all the high level bureaucrats immediately and replace them with people you trust. DON’T PLAY NICE.

    1. Yes! First thing any conservative needs to do is get rid of obstructionist bureaucrats. Replace them or scrap their jobs entirely on the way to smaller government. And do it immediately upon taking control.

Conservatives desperately need to learn to be as ruthless as socialists.

    2. Yes, RUTHLESS and FAST. Ontario government (all government) is too big by a factor of at least two. Cut, cut, cut, deregulate, FAST and RUTHLESS.

In retrospect the Donald should have been much more aggressive out of the gate. What a horrible disappointment sessions has been.

  13. Turnout 58% A lot of liberals didn’t vote because they didn’t like the givng up, thought it was a lost cause and caouldn’t stomach a vote for the NDP and PC. Although many DID switch to the NDP

  14. Government Ottawa
Ottawa Vanier and Centre no surprise. I am surprized at Orleans. Ottawa South Frazer’s “we are not Liberal” signs worked; McGuilty country though.

  15. Very surprising result, considering the media coverage….Congratulations, Doug Ford.

  16. Sometimes is puzzles the mind when you look and listen to politicians.
Take the bombastic Mike Schreiner, green in more ways than one.
The numbers for all of the greens were 263,987 or 4.6%
When he talked on the propaganda channels went totally bombastic. A legend in his own mind. Got more air than 1 seat deserves.
He is responsible to the people that voted for him though.

  17. “As premier of Ontario, I hereby announce that there will be no public services offered by this government, until this province is out of debt. All civil servants are hereby laid off. All hospitals are closed. All schools are closed. There will be no power, or heat at all provincial buildings. We cannot afford whatever it is that you think you need.”

In my opinion, that is where it needs to start.

  18. “The Ontario Teacher’s pension is the largest pool of money in the country; I hereby nationalize that asset. From each according to his ability. To each according to his need, and all that.” Rob Ford.

    1. Private pensions have been seized in various countries to help pay for the malfeasance that is government; time to make unions live up to their own rules.

  19. I briefly tuned into QR77 in Calgary for my morning drive. They were sounding pretty sour about Ford Nation with jokes and quips about how they’re going to drink the next 4 years away on Fords cheap beer. Try drinking some tears Lieberal arseholes.

    1. Yep, warms your heart in a very good way.
Watching billionaires taking out the trash bins is good for the soul.

  20. Ontario has finally gotten rid of the most corrupt government in the history of the province. Unfortunately there are still a lot of backroom liberals getting rich off the scams they forced on the people of Ontario. Surely there must be some legal way we can make these carpetbaggers accountable for their crimes.

  21. I sent my limozeen-liberal sister in Toronto a non-gloating note early this morning with my impressions of working Election Day (she worked her polling station during the last Fed election, so I thought of sharing my experiences with her).
Of course whe replied with an anti-Trump diatribe much as she did following the 2016 General Election.
Nowhere in my thoughts sent to her did I gloat over Ford’s win, as it was more of a compendium of the long day’s work involved in working the polling station.
Her reply…yup, more slagging of the majority of the voters who chose Ford and company over the bull dyke and the other socialista.
She ended the tirade with a hope that one of the other “leaders” attending the, in her words, G6+1, would tell Trump to fuck off. G6+1…is that what the all the cool kids at Red Star is calling it? My sister sure as shit didn’t think up that witticism on her own.
I had an across the fence chat this afternoon with my amiable, yet hardcore union-type neighbour about last night, which naturally devolved on his part to slagging Trump and his tarrifs on steel. I asked him where Canada ranks in the top twenty steel producing nations…we barely make the list…Iran is ahead of us fer Chrissakes. He was surprised to say the least. What does Canada respond with? Tariffs on felt pens and oranges.
Uh huh…nice negotiating strategy you’ve got there, Juthtin. Be a shame anything would happen to it.
    G6+1.
Guess who’s wearing the big boy pants at the table?

  22. A decade and a half of sheer hell. Of ever worsening governance. Of a debilitating, insidious governance model that inflicted a death by a thousand cuts that not only ruined Ontario but metastasized all over Canada. Over-hopefully. DoFo does not have a plan, and I do not have high hopes. I said I wouldn’t cry but….

That being said, less than half of voters voted rationally.

  23. Something went wrong, I think my comment got misplaced.

Fifteen years of hell…finally over-perhaps. Depends on whether or not DoFo can actually do what he’s hyped to do. So far he’s a man without a plan. Still, it feels like dawn, and hopefully the beginning of the end of a policy cancer (death by a thousand mostly green cuts) that has metastasized all over Canada.
