Justify

@andyserling“Justify did something remarkable in winning six races in 111 days, five of them going two turns. This is something you likely won’t ever see again. We can discuss where he fits from an historical perspective at another time. For now it’s just congratulation on an amazing feat”.

  1. As Holmes says to Watson in one of the stories, the British public are constantly amazed that one horse can run faster than another.

  2. This is indeed a significant day in horse racing. On June 9, 1973, Secretariat became the first Triple Crown winner since Citation.

  3. Splendid race, a joy to watch.

Nice to hear the hooves of THUNDER, pounding the track!

    Prosit!

    1. Agreed! Yes, it was a pleasure to watch, as was the reaction of the jockey at race’s end and the trophy awarding.

      Prosit.

  4. Soros has recently complained that everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. This has gone right.

  5. It was an impressive win, especially leading the whole trip. He was asked to run at the top of the stretch, was chased down a bit, but whenever asked to go, he went. It’s hard to tell what he could do if really pressed. To get a sense of where Justify stacks up, he would have lost to American Pharoah (yes it’s spelled that way) by 8 lengths and by Secretariat by 21 lengths.

  6. Does anyone know why the jockey was wearing different silks this time? In the Derby and Preakness, his silks were white with a stylized star on them.

  7. I’m no K.Derby expert … but isn’t Belmont the LONGEST track of the 3 KD races? Most impressive to win that last leg of the Derby when the odds shift to leaner long distance horses!

But I’m just curious … before I put this horse in the ultra elite class … what were the TIMES of these 3-races? Were they all record breakers … or was the competition just weaker this year?

    1. Huh!? Nowwwwww I watched the race. Total domination by Justify … and the colt’s brilliant jockey!! Leading START to FINISH holding off every challenge for the lead … and having an INCREDIBLE amount of speed at the end. That final stretch was like Trump at the G7 … 6-National leaders eating his dust … while Trump looks relaxed and STRONG.

  8. Does anyone realize that Justify was wearing the flag of the PRC in the Belmont? Yellow stars in a field of just that shade of red. And to punctuate the point, a red cap with one yellow star on top. I understand he is partly owned by something called China Racing.

  9. At least this pony doesn’t go around embarrassing himself on behalf of an entire nation.
