  1. Canada imports aluminum and steel from China, stamps trademarks on it then exports those metals into the US via Nafta. Then Couillard tells the US that the problem is China, not Canada.

    1. There is no ‘problem’ and no evidence that much Chinese metal is using Canada to get into the states. Even if there was, still not a real problem.

  2. A feel good ‘talking head’ for one of the most corrupt constituency’s in North America. Yup, Quebec is full of what the USA needs. If that is resources then the status quo marches on.

What is the world reality? I would throw out the idea that the USA, with or without Trump, realize that the EU and European unity is disintegrating. Brexit is the obvious example but Italian debt, all Euro debt is the clincher. If Europe is collapsing what is the USA position? A flight of capital from the EU to the USA would be inevitable and from that the USA would gain a huge share in world trade.

NATO would be a sink hole as the EU would not have funds to defend themselves. Russian influence in Europe could grow but the EU represents a threat to the Russians as well. Russia does not have the money to pacify Europe and the EU is one of Russia’s biggest energy customers. A destitute EU hurts the Russians enormously.

If you fear global debt like I do and the ramifications of a world trade collapse then all conventional relationships become questionable. This is why I do not think Donald Trump is unique. He could represent a new USA world outlook that is crafted more on economic survival and continued world supremacy post a debt collapse.

  3. It was all about Quebec, as if it was a country on its own. No mention about the rest of (post-national, sharia-compliant, gender-balanced, carbon-neutral, Soros vassal) Canada and how, particularly in the west, it’s being taken to the cleaners through “equalization” payments.

Sorry, Mr. Batchelor, but you’ve been conned.

  4. Quebec IS a separate nation, and we help support it.They have offices in 30 countries, including 12 in the USA, negotiate their own trade agreements, have their own pension plan, their own immigration policy, so why in hell do we send them about 13 billion in “equalization” payments every year? It must be wonderful to be in a position where you can’t fail, take no risks, and are constantly suckholed to by the government of Canada.

The Power elite in Quebec has the Canadian government by the balls, it isn’t just the 82 seats in parliament, it’s much more than that. I believe both the LPC and CPC are owned by this group, and represent THEM, not US.

This interview should be an eye-opener to anyone who believes Canada is just one big happy family, in reality, we are owned by the Quebec mafia, and I don’t mean the Sicilian’s Mafia, but the Quebec cabal that runs this country. They rule, we are peasants. Never listened to John Batchelor before, is he always so deferential to politicians,or just the ones from Quebec?

    1. Never listened to John Batchelor before, is he always so deferential to politicians,or just the ones from Quebec?

I’ve been listening to his show for over 2 years. I started because I heard his Hotel Mars segments on The Space Show, so I wanted to hear what the rest of his program was like.

Batchelor rarely interviews foreign dignitaries. He has, on occasion, travelled to other parts of the world, such as Israel, and interviewed politicians there. What you heard in that segment with Couillard is typical of his style, unlike, say, how Tucker Carlson might do it.

He has to be careful, of course, because he has a worldwide audience.

    2. “…so why in hell do we send them about 13 billion in “equalization” payments every year?” Someone has to fund all the largess in Quebec. Why not by fleecing the peasants in ROC (rest of Canada).

You describe perfectly the grip that the Laurentian Elite has on Canada.

  5. Friendly reminder that:

    1. The French Canadian refusal to learn English and integrate into British society is the reason Canada was saddled with “multiculturalism” in the first place.

    2. The Quebec Act, which shielded the French Canadians from the consequences of losing a war, was the spark of the American Revolution. Loyal Britons were denied the spoils of war and then taxed to pay for it. We’ve lived with a divided north America ever since.

    1. The French Canadian refusal to learn English and integrate into British society is the reason Canada was saddled with “multiculturalism” in the first place.

The current problems started when Jean Lesage was premier of Quebec. He was the one who used the phrase “The Quiet Revolution” to describe changes in the province after Duplessis left office. It was during Lesage’s tenure that the FLQ began bombing postboxes and preaching separation.

Pearson bent over backwards in order to keep that part of the country happy. It was while he was PM that we ended up with a new flag, which many people didn’t want, and we had the Bilingualism and Biculturalism Royal Commission, which many people disagreed with. Then, after the Lucien Rivard farce and the subsequent resignation of Justice Minister Guy Favreau, he figured that he needed a Quebecois presence in cabinet. Guess who he brought in?

      1. Oh all that I knew. But it began long before Lesage. The French Canadians have always been like this. Diversity for the English, not for the French.

        1. If there was a form of diversity, it wasn’t readily apparent in parts of Quebec some 60 years ago.

My father came over from Germany shortly before I was born. He disembarked in Quebec and found himself a job in his trade in the Montreal area. He worked there for about a year in order to earn enough money to get to Edmonton, where we had relatives, and to pay for passage for my mother and me.

He had only a basic command of English as a result of coming from the British sector of Berlin, as well as the influx of American culture after WW II. He was able to do his job and get around without knowing any French.

          1. My father, a prairie boy, spent a year in Montreal during the war. He said, “There are no French people in Montreal.” The Royal Rifles of Canada, all of whom were killed or captured at the fall of Hong Kong, were Anglos from Quebec City. Does such an animal even exist anymore?

          2. BA and scar …
Regarding your questions about diversity in Quebec, you would have found it in Montreal. There are pockets of minorities in various parts of the city where Churches were built and services were permitted in the various languages and religions. There were multi cultural Social Clubs, private schools, delicatessens, restaurants, grocery stores, butchers, bakeries, photographers, dance studios, doctors, lawyers, tailors, shoemakers and shoe stores, clothing stores, and factories of all kinds etc. The public schools were either the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal or the Montreal Catholic School Commission. The French had their own separate School Board. One could only attend the latter if one was a pure “Laine” French Canadian with a French name. The rest, all went to English School, that meant all the immigrants.
( Not like that today, anymore)

My first day of school in was chaotic. Hardly anyone spoke English. It was shocking, I made friends with one person. The rest were wild like animals, pulling the girls’ pony-tailed hair and throwing erasers. One kid got scolded for bringing in a popsicle for recess on a hot day. Poor thing had to have it for breakfast, instead!

So yeah there were Multi-culti people there. As soon as you left the city, people had cottages in the Laurentian Mountains, and there too, the various nationalities settled together. These tiny hamlets still exist today. Everyone is tri- lingual at the very least. Outside of all that, it is mostly Francophone speaking with some exceptions. If one only spoke one language one could always get by because of these aforementioned available services. One soon quickly picked up another language, like they do today, in Europe.

B A : There was a wonderful very large beer hall, called the Old Munich that everyone went to, including myself. They had costumed servers, a regular band, German decor and food and of course drink. It was there for over 100 years. There are photos online… the music was loud, fantastic, and people dancing everywhere!

Quelle joie de vivre! Auf wiedersehen!

      2. For the record we didn’t end up with a “new flag” we ended up with the Liberal Party under the minority leadership of commie Lester Pearson imposing the Liberal logo flag without permission from the citizenry for the sole purpose of obliterating the original flag, the Red Ensign. Changing flags is usually an act of revolution and changing the Red Ensign was certainly that… obliterating historical context. As for Peeair imposing french as an “official language”, once again he did so without permission from Canadians who had expressed little to no desire for french as an “official language”. The BB commission was a scam because their findings were ignored by Peeair Trudo. Only a small minority of Canadians (36%) had shown some desire for “territorial bilingualism” (forced french) territorial meaning parts of Queerbek not the whole nation. Instead of respecting the desires of Canadians Peeair imposed the least popular choice of forced french known as “personalized bilingualism” which he would later constitutionalize once again without permission from the governed. Franco nationalism is a constitutional reality because Peeair the Turdo imposed it under the absurd cliche’d notion of a “just society”. The tail has been constitutionally wagging the dog ever since and for ever more. Lets not confuse what the corrupt Liberals imposed on the nation with the idea that Canadians of the time wanted the same things, thats simply Liberal double speak and utter bullshit.

        1. I’m not sure that Pearson was necessarily a communist nor that he intended to eradicate any trace of Canada’s British history.

I remember the flag debate as I was a schoolboy at the time. I was puzzled as to why it was deemed necessary to change from the Red Ensign. All sorts of designs were proposed and, as I recall, debate in the House of Commons became so heated and hostile that closure was imposed for the second time in history.

It wouldn’t surprise me that this was meant to pacify Quebec due to the political climate there at the time. Then again, Pearson was a diplomat before he became PM.

      3. The Quiet Revolution started as a very good thing-Quebec was a weird quasi-feudal backwards place before then. Then the feds began shovelling tons of money at Quebec starting under Diefenbaker IIRC. That’s what corrupted it. That was a really good FP article.

      4. ” after the Lucien Rivard farce and the subsequent resignation of Justice Minister Guy Favreau, he ( Pearson) figured that he needed a Quebecois presence in cabinet. Guess who he brought in?”

That would be the foxes in the hen house: he (Pearson) brought in Jean Marchand a Quebec Unionist, Gérard Pelletier from Le Devoir newspaper and none other than the Cité Libre editor, a weekly Montreal “rag”, the lawyer Pierre Trudeau, who became P.M. in 1968. Oh, those naughty Quebec boys…and the rest is
        “just watch me” history.

        1. Yup. Those were who I had in mind.

Weren’t they referred to as “The Three Wise Men” at one time? They caused more damage to this country than Larry, Moe, and Curly could ever have done.

I used to have respect for Pearson. Now I’m not so sure.

  6. I think you mean, “things you won’t see, hear, or be allowed to comment on CBC”

  7. Woud yu pepl kindly read your comnets before psting them or at lest utilize the edit function? Sheesh!

  8. Of course, the interview was purely a propaganda piece designed to make Quebec look good. That way, Couillard could counteract any rumours of discontent from the ROC about his provinces privileged position inside what used to be the Dominion, thereby making the ROC the villains.

    1. It’s nut da dev – lup-ment togeder dat counts, it’s Quebec dat counts.

      Heh heh heh…

  9. I moved from Quebec in 1976 for work reasons. I’m schooled Anglo. Having gown up there I can see how Quebec is a distinct group and people are how they are. The science says people are tribal. It is what it is. Did the language laws go too far? In my opinion yes but I do understand what Quebec was trying to accomplish back then. Still today Quebecers take a strong stand against forced multiculturalism. There is a lesson for the ROC. The cultural Marxists must be opposed or we become the next Sweden where free speech is outlawed.

The power elite own the politicians. The elites, of whatever language or race, are one happy family.
Which of the elite are Franco-phones? Demarais vs how many old established Anglo families in Quebec vs the ROC? Quebec has 78 seats of 338 seats in parliament. Each Quebec vote gets counted once & Quebec doesn’t all vote one way. So puppet politicians throw some crumbs Quebec’s way to win some seats. Wealth redistribution $$$S spent on equalization & social programs end up in the pockets of the elites. Uncontrolled immigration is good for GDP.
But anyone who works, saves & invests…they pay, regardless if he/she lives in Quebec or the ROC.

Equalization is based on per capita incomes. Ontario is now also a “have not” province. The problem is lack of paying jobs. Foreign investment is falling. 400,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost since 2004. The globalist elites and their media shills prescribe more of the same. That 60% in the recent Ontario provincial election voted for the left is disconcerting…Sweden here we come. And so I see the need to define the fight and unite.

    1. ” 400,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost since 2004. ”

That trend will continue for the simple reason of ‘automation’. It’s the same all over, and it’s a very good thing.

      1. Funny how defending globalism gets you labelled globalism.

I suggest you read up the definition of “Consequence”.
