    1. He will be. I sent a letter to him at the beginning of March concerning the plight of the white South African farmers. I finally received a small terse e-mail from his “communication staff” – no one was willing to put their own name to it. The e-mail was full of bafflegab, about how he is concerned for all immigrants. He is my MP, I actually might not vote in the next election, I am so annoyed.
      I read that the white South African farmers are in discussions with Russia about moving there to continue to farm. I do not know which group reached out, but the SA farmers would be a gift to whichever country takes them.

  12. I’m not sure how this is a strategic tactic for the Liberals. Provinces want 1) a slowdown in the number of asylum seekers that PMJT invited because the numbers are higher than the ability to provide services 2) PMJT needs to pay for his guests rather than financially abandon them and the provinces. Arrogantly accusing other levels of government of being awful people doesn’t solve anything.

    To be fair, it’s always been difficult to contain the arrogance emanating from the Liberal Party. Liberal arrogance is much like Old Faithful – a reliable explosion of smelly gas. To expect Liberals to work constructively with non-Liberals without Liberals accusing them of being unCanadian, racist, sexist, homophobic is to misunderstand the Liberals fundamental nature. It’s how they roll and, thankfully, their arrogance, corruption and greed always leads to electoral defeat.

  13. I happen to think that the current crisis in illegal border crossers was precipitated by big mouth Trudeau in his “everyone is welcome tweet”. A lot of the crossers are from Nigera. I don’t believe there is a war in Nigeria explaining this, but there is an underground network of Nigerians who likely are funding this and getting kick backs. (See the article on Hussein’s meeting at the Nigerian gang restaurant for clues that this is in fact the case.) After the tweet, the gang saw an opportunity and took advantage. Someone has to be giving the Nigerians money to get here and information on how to proceed.

    1. 80% of the migrants resettling in Toronto are from Nigeria. There were many Haitians initially who remained in the US long after the earthquake decimated the island. These people were granted temporary asylum in the USA. As Trump moved to cancel asylum for Haitians, many packed up and headed for Canada. Once in Canada asylum seekers are given free food and accommodation, free health and dental care. Recently I visited a relative who has mental health issues. Many of the people in the short care facility were homeless, not wanting to leave because they had nowhere to go. One troubled man was driven to a shelter that had room about 2 hours away. As he was led away by police he complained that he didn’t know anyone in Kitchener, that he was born and raised in Guelph. Others waited in Emergency for beds to come open. According to the nurse it can take up to 3 days for a bed to come open. The homeless can sit in Emergency for that period of time before they are transferred. A very expensive way to process the homeless. Economic migrants are coming to Canada in the thousands while people with mental health issues walk the streets and can’t get into a facility. I think that is wrong, but I’ve never heard a liberal bring the issue up.

The Haitians are used to living in North America and would know how to navigate the system. Many may have personal contacts in Quebec because of the French. All of the Nigerians suddenly arriving is very peculiar. Why are they coming from Nigeria? It can only be because some group is facilitating their arrival.

    2. You’re right. I’m pro-immigration. In fact, I think numbers per year could be higher. But… I’m pro-immigration only if it’s legal and selective based on skills and ability to integrate. Being selective is what makes immigration successful for both the host country and the immigrants. Illegal border jumpers , or irregulars if you want to get caught in semantics, are exploiting a goodwill loophole. It’s like not paying an honour system fee or stealing from a charity. It makes people think their generous nature is being taken advantage of, which causes resentment. Being called a racist, alt-right, xenophobe for opposing this exploitation will turn people off immigration all-together. As will having to pay monetary costs and burdens to the education and health system due to an overload of “irregular” arrivals.

    3. There are serious problems in northern Nigeria where Christians are being targeted and displaced or murdered (or both) by Muslim Nigerians who want their land. Doubt, though, that these are the ones actually making it to Canada.

  14. The other obvious concern is that since the costs on this are taken from social services budgets, everything else is getting short changed. If the Feds are not covering the costs of failing to close that border entry point, (Why not turn it into a formal entry point, with a makeshift office of customs/immigration people?) then all the other folks who depend on social service funding are not being adequately served. Social Services fund people with disabilities, homeless, mentally ill, poor single mothers, and a myriad of other people with a genuine need. No Province can afford to take on this additional financial burden. Mean time, Federal money goes to promoting feminism by doing equality research at the behest of the UN, climate change conference hopping, and Justin’s junkets to India. It is Hussain who is unCanadian, and his government is immoral.

I can’t help but notice that when Harper was in power, Canada’s problems were mostly whiny things: Karios did not get funded . . . “who wrote the NOT” . . . omnibus bills . . . public servants having to get permission before speaking to the press (otherwise known as “muzzling scientists”), blah, blah. Nothing Harper did posed major problems for our country. Nevertheless, the left complained constantly, and most of the complainers were already privileged people, academics, etc. Now that the Liberals are in power we seem to have a number of serious problems: people crossing the border illegally, trade problems, serious problems with overspending . . . and spending on the wrong stuff (e.g. Khadar and the 5 or so similar cases that got paid off quietly, research on “women’s equality” — big money at status of women), pressures on provincial social services due to the unprecedented influx of refugee claimants, etc. Under Trudeau we have real problems (some of which are swept under the carpet). Personally I think Canada is going to hell in a handbasket and we have the Liberals and uninformed Liberal supporters to thank for it. As the “first post-national state”, we are not doing very well.

      1. As I said under Harper, most problems were whiny, minor things. Who cares if he spent money on anti-drug commercials or gave money to the CHRC. He may have blocked some foreign investment, but overall, he saught foreign investment. Obviously there is disagreement on what Harper did, but those are essentially political disagreements. None of what he did threatened the integrity of the country.
        Liberal policies are doing just that by screwing up trade with the US and allowing an essentially open borders situation to go unaddressed. I think the carbon tax will also hurt the economy and accomplish nothing. You obviously do not understand the difference between political disagreements and serious problems.
