  1. I don’t blame Marilyn Mosby. Not really. I blame the fools who stupidly turned America’s blacks loose in 1865, rather than insist they leave for Liberia.

America’s cities have never had a crime problem. They have an African problem. In principle, all that needs doing is to remove the Africans and see to it they don’t return, and the crime will go away with them.

This won’t happen, obviously, because the globalists depend on black votes to thrust Democrats into office. If America’s blacks suddenly disappeared tomorrow morning, the Dems would be routed in 2018 and by 2020 would be dead at the federal level.

    1. Again, you have an abysmal knowledge of American history.

America’s cities have always had a crime problem. You can say that about almost every minority immigration. And by minority I don’t mean non-white. The Italians and Irish in their turn were rejected every bit as harshly. Signs in Boston read “Irish need not apply.” (Ironic, now that the Irish have taken over Boston.) To protect themselves, they had secret societies that did what the authorities would not do, which is to punish transgressions against them. To be sure, there were legitimate complaints, but being outside the law, they degenerated rapidly into crime syndicates. Of course, everyone knows about the Cosa Nostra. But the Irish had their Molly Mcguire. The Chinese had their tongs. In fact, all those were imported from the mother country.

As to the freed slaves, history tells quite a different story. For example, in spite of prevailing prejudices, there was a vibrant black community in New York at the end of the nineteenth century. It wasn’t just the Jazz Age that reached its peak in the Roaring 20’s. If you check the patents taken out at that time, you can find that blacks contributed substantially to the advancement in science ad technology. It wasn’t just George Washington Carver and Booker T. Washington. And remember, some of these people were born slaves.

As recently as 1960, the U.S. Census noted that over three quarters of black families were headed by a married couple. And most of those couples were devout Christians. Yes, proportionally there were more black illegitimate births, but almost all the teenage mothers lived with their parents, and their children had a stable family environment. All that changed when Lyndon Johnson’s so-called Great Society took those girls out of their homes and put them in their own apartments. The children grew up with no supervision, many of them with only an addicted or hooker mother as an adult model. We are now into the fourth or fifth generation of that, and we have the continued decay of the central cities because of it.

Segregation was the great evil that prevented the complete integration (yes, that is the appropriate word) of blacks into American society. There was such a window of opportunity, with a self supporting black culture in the cities from the late nineteenth century through the Stock Market Crash of 1929. Unfortunately, when desegregation did come, it was concurrent with Johnson’s Great Society, which introduced such decay into the black culture that it was no longer self sufficient. To be sure, Lyndon Johnson was no reformer. In fact he was as bigoted as the worst southern Democrat. But he was prescient when he said that with his programs, those n****rs (his word) will be Democrats for generations. He made blacks freer in society, and he made them dependent on socialist handouts. But that was exactly what he wanted to do.

President Trump is trying to reverse all that with reviving pride in the black community. Not pride in being black versus white, but pride in being self sufficient. Hopefully, one day we can see the blacks as fully integrated into American society as the Italians and Irish were, as mostly the Asians are getting to be, and as more and more Latinos are.

I believe in the U.S. as a not so much melting pot but a great stew, with each culture maintaining its identity but contributing to the great feast that is the U.S. And I firmly believe that each individual, of whatever race, was created uniquely by God to give his unique contribution. Most of us may not reach our full potential, but it’s the only legitimate function of a government to maintain a free society wherein we can try.

      1. Well said, OldBruin. Sadly, my YoungBruin daughter (history major) learned none of this from her professors. Instead, she learned about the ‘misogynist patriarchy of Asian cultures’ … and the ‘history of rock and roll’ (which to its credit, included an excellent unit on the Jazz era).

I believe in the melting pot, but happily accept your stew analogy … in which we are all immersed in a common broth yet, like my (famous) cioppino each chunk of fish and shellfish retains its own texture and flavor. What I reject is the current ‘salad bowl’ analogy where America is described as a tossing-together of disparate elements suspended by an oil and vinegar that never emulsifies.

      2. Good summary, aside from the imaginary and vague notion that Trump is helping somehow. It’s only missing two vital elements: 1) “Urban redevelopment” headed by Henry Moses in the mid-20th century, where vibrant inner-city communities were torn down and replaced with centrally-planned vertical slums & 2) the War on Drugs

There’s actually another issue: lead. A lot of these dysfunctional places still have lead pipes and a lot of other sources of lead contamination.

        1. hey Undork, maybe you should talk to Trumps X bi-racial girlfriend, and get your sorry ass educated to some facts. Black unemployment is at a historical low, and not because of obungles

      3. GReat Comment..OleBruin..!

However I would make one Notable exception to that.

The Followers of Islam have no place in Western Civil society…They to me, are a Clear and Present Danger to All Western Nations. They have 1 Goal and that is to establish a North American Kaliphate and the implementation of Sharia law.

For the US I am thankful as it may be my last refuge as i see our country teetering on the Brink of Sharia….

2A May be the only thing that prevents that from Happening in the US.
Internment and deportation will at some point need to be implemented or we are ALL toast.

        1. I said “the great stew”, but even as you retain your “texture and flavor”, as Kenji said, you have to be willing to be immersed in the same broth, which is uniquely American.
What distinguished the European immigrants in the nineteenth century was they were fully American from when they first set foot here. Most of them were illiterate peasants, and were only too happy to escape the harsh life and oppression, and find a new life, literally, here. They became literate … in English … and completely accepted the new country in every way. When Democrats praise immigrants, they forget it was those immigrants who made America great. (And proved greatness is learned and not born, in contrast to what the old European nobility, which is still heavily represented in the EU hierarchy, thinks.)
While a minority of twentieth century immigrants from Asia and Latin America may think that way (including OldBruin), most have to learn to accept America for what she is, an gradually learn to love her. I believe almost all of them have come to realize that, yes, they have morphed into Americans, and are more comfortable here than in the old country. But many do this grudgingly, and some indeed repatriate to the old country, especially east Asians, as the standard of living is most similar.
If any Muslim immigrants think like the old European immigrants, I believe they would be in a very small minority. They have a very great hurdle to overcome, which is you cannot add Sharia to the great broth. Sharia and American society, especially the law under the Constitution are fundamentally incompatible. You can be Buddhist and American, you can be Hindu and American, but can you be Muslim and American? That means you must accept forgoing the belief that your society must be ruled by Sharia. Can you do that and still be Muslim? And if it comes to a choice between the two, then the answer is clear. Those who cannot choose to accept America should not be allow to immigrate here.

      4. “… The children grew up with no supervision, many of them with only an addicted or hooker mother as an adult model. …”

And if you put people or any other race or ethnicity in the same circumstances you get results that are no different in any significant way. Welfare culture is degenerate.

    2. That’s ok, they are and will be replaced by the followers of islam. Now won’t that be grand.

  2. If I was in Baltimore I’d stop noticing tax requirements. It seems no one is willing to do the job they are paid to do.

    Including the police members.

    1. The Baltimore Police have stopped noticing CRIME (in select neighborhoods). You can be damned sure they are still ticketing illegal parking, especially in the “good” neighborhoods and tourist spots. The various minions and leaders of the city government may have collectively decided to let certain demographics freely victimize the citizens of Baltimore, but they will collect every damned penny they think Baltimore is due. Without those taxes? Without those fines, franchises, and fees? How do they get paid? How do they collect their pensions? How do the politicians get reelected? Priorities Damn It! The Money must flow!

Derek, if YOU don’t pay up? The Government will send men with guns to take it from YOU!

  3. Baltimore was ground zero of the knockout game….killed some people and put the rest in the hospital
    …thankfully it was not racist

  4. Police are no longer welcome at pride parades, wait until the police no longer care about crimes against lgtbetc.

  5. So the thugs in blue ceded some territory to equally worthless thugs in other colors. Why does theta make things worse? Do critters living in Baltimore really meas those rough rides?

    1. Besides, those JBTs were never that good at noticing crime within their own ranks, now they are just more inclusive and ignore crimes committed by non-cops as well.

  6. No politician in Baltimore will EVER say enough is enough. Baltimore is a ‘chocolate town’ now … and the ‘chocolate’ leaders are imposing THEIR culture upon the city. Deal with it. This is THEIR culture, not America’s culture. It’s the same thing as having your schools formally TEACH Ebonics in lieu of English … because, well, English is the language of da white man. Well … law and order is a white man’s concept too. Law. Order. Yep, not much of that in da ‘chocolate’ culture.

And lest you label me a racist … I will quickly point out that American CULTURE welcomes ALL peoples of ALL skin tones to become ONE with us. But if you come to OUR culture and wish to dismantle what makes us great? Well, you will be self-exiling yourself into an urban hellhole of a ghetto.

  7. True Fact: Baltimore is a shithole.

But what do I know?…..I only used to live there.

Crab cakes are pretty damn good, however.

  8. The article is essentially one long whinge about how unfair everyone is to those darn cops! All they did was brutalize some people! It’s especially breathtaking coming from a former LAPD member. The LAPD is a violent, unreformedly racist third-world esque occupying force. A lot of American PDs are like third-world military goons.

“The story goes on to describe how Baltimore’s police officers reported seeing fewer drug dealers out and about, fewer traffic violators, fewer people with arrest warrants, fewer of any type of person who previously would have attracted their attention.”

Good. An inactive police force is a less dangerous police force. There is still no such thing as the ‘Ferguson Effect’, except to the extent conservatives will lie for their Heroze in Bloo: https://reason.com/blog/2015/06/04/are-we-really-seeing-a-nationwide-crime

    1. hey undork, remember the LA riots, Rodney King and all. If the LA Times had not edited the news clip, there would not have been any riots. A$$holes like you need a session in the back of a pohleece station, just to larn you.

      1. I saw the original video when KTLA (Channel 5) first broke the news. It showed the entire sequence from chase to capture. It showed where it took three or four policemen to hold Rodney King down. In accordance with proper procedure, they beat him on the back of the upper leg with the baton. That eventually subdued him, but introduced no permanent damage.

The next day, the video started with where they beat him with the baton, and the entire video never saw the light of day again. So the impression given was that of a subdued man being mercilessly beaten. That just ain’t so. You are right, the riots were caused by the media.

However, in the ensuing riots, a truck was stopped, the white driver (Reginald Denny) was pulled out and indeed mercilessly beaten. To give credit where it is due, he was rescued by other blacks. But obviously, the rioters had no problem with someone being mercilessly beaten, only what race the (perceived) victim belongs to.

    2. ” The LAPD is a violent, unreformedly racist third-world esque occupying force. ”

I still can’t tell if you’re caricature, or a caricature of a caricature.

You write well, but about a third of your assertions are such unmitigated bullshit that I picture you laughing as you type them. Your quote above is one example. The LA police force now almost exactly mirrors the racial makeup of the city itself, and it bends over backwards to be PC. I grew up in Compton, and still have relatives and friends there, and they all say that the only people who fear LAPD now are bangers.

You write often about tariffs as if anyone in the world considers them to be a good thing in and of themselves, completely ignoring the fact that tariffs are simply coercive measures that are placed knowing they will do harm, but with the implicit statement that “they will hurt you more than us, so alter your behavior towards us.” No one wants tariffs as an desired end – they’re just a tool to get there (unless you’re a farmer, of course, and then they’re holy.)

Enough with the mindless sloganeering, please. When you avoid it, you’re interesting and informative. When you throw it in, you debase everything else that you say. The arguments about physics from a physicist lose all meaning when that same person asserts that the earth is flat.

      1. “LAPD Officers Recorded Themselves Apparently Planting Cocaine on a Suspect”

        http://reason.com/blog/2017/11/13/lapd-officers-recorded-themselves-appare

So much for that goody-two-shoes narrative of yours.

“the implicit statement that “they will hurt you more than us, so alter your behavior towards us.”

Translation: “stop blowing your feet off or I will blow mine off even more”

Of course even that’s too generous. Trump has been writing protectionist idiotic nonsense for decades. He was part of the ‘Japan’s gonna eat us alive!’ scaremongering in the ’80s and he learned nothing from that and just turned his sights to China. His tariffs on steel and aluminum were justified on ‘national security’ grounds, so no not an impetus for freer trade, just more autarky nonsense. His tariffs on washing machines weren’t even given that worthless justification.

        1. 1. Find me a police department about which you can’t always find some headline of cop malfeasance. The ratio of scum-to-decent in cops is closely mirrored by that of society as a whole, so you will always be able to point to something being done evilly anywhere. Heck, I understand priests can even be found doing bad things. Anyway, a point or two doesn’t condemn a department. I remember when they were bad, and feared by the general population. They’re not now.

          2. You condemn all tariff activity. You say it’s “stop blowing your feet off or I will blow mine off even more.” I think it’s “stop blowing my feet off and I’ll stop blowing yours off.” For the first time in a long time, the EU, China, Canada, and Mexico are seemingly on the verge of being nicer to us. Why might that be? Trump’s winning personality? Or is this simply the finally-catching-up effects of the brilliant Obama strategy? (Gag.) No, I think it’s the coercive effects of tariffs. Hopefully, they’ll convince others to make changes before they cost us too much. Just like real wars are designed to be, trade wars are wars of attrition, costly to all, but hopefully less affordable to you than to me so that you knuckle under faster. (They might cost me more, but if I have deeper resources, I can afford them more easily than can you.)

Tariffs for national security – tariffs designed to make sure our necessary industries like food and metals and defense can survive a badly-timed conflict with others by limiting how much control those others can have over those industries – are always losers economically. But they’re not designed for economic benefit. They’re designed so that China (or whoever) can’t cripple our industrial capacity or our food supplies at the same time it starts ramming our ships in the China Sea. Personally, I’ll take the economic loss if it keeps us viable.

  9. Perhaps somewhat tangential to the discussion. Perhaps not …

In the comments someone mentions a situation where a police department applicant was rejected for being too smart and that the US Supreme Court sustained the rejection. I haven’t attempted to check the veracity of that but it reminded me of something. Over 30 years ago I attended a “future” conference where a number of people attempted to predict how things would be now. One of the subjects was policing. The person presenting made the case that we would need fewer policemen, partly because of automation of information gathering but also because the job of policeman would require more intelligent and much more highly trained people to tackle the job.
