Visited my sister last night. She holds strong political opinions on many things, but when pushed to answer her charges, she completely fails. I referenced Freeland when discussing NAFTA and she had no idea of who that was. I referenced the Environment minister whom she could not name. I referenced the non-existent east-west pipeline of which she thought already existed, at which point she says she follows American politics more closely, so I asked her to name the eight SCOTUS members. Then I asked for only four. Then I asked for one, she could not respond. Then I asked her to list the first three amendments, she couldn’t name one. I asked her who was the VP, she struggled and answered, some pasty faced white guy. Time and time again, she had no idea of the law, constitution BNA, or even current events, but she could site several talking heads from CNN and CBS. Her answer to most things, was it’s Trump’s fault and anything bad happening in Canada is not the fault of Canada.
Now, this story is not unremarkable, as there are a great many who have no concept of which they speak. The sad part of all this is she recently retired after teaching children for 35 years. She holds three degrees, travels, and owns property, but the sum of her capacity to understand the world around here is almost nil. However, she can discuss dresses, diets, and minutia until the cows come home. She votes Liberal every single time there is an election.
Sounds about right. Look up ‘Liberal’ in the dictionary and no doubt you’ll find your sister’s name. They all confuse opinion with knowledge.
Confuse … feelings with knowledge. If they fee-eel … someone should be able to ignore their pennis and chromosomes and call themselves a woman … then it becomes “fact”.

And let me guess: her excuse is “I don’t pay attention to politics”?

Most liberal voters vote liberal because mommy and daddy told them to. The majority do not have a clue what,s going on in the world.your sister is a perfect example of a liberal/Democrat voter. Liberal voters will not even take the time to listen to any other opinion, they have been brainwashed by the school system and that is why canada is going down the toilet

Lunacy is right. We are becoming a very sick society, and due for a reset.
Earlier this summer I had occasion to have a conversation with a relative and the subject of politics reared it’s ugly head . I dared make a comment about the fact that I felt Canada had become dysfunctional and gave as two examples the gong show going on in bc with regard to pipelines and quebec with their never ending opposition to Western Canada’s energy sector . I could not have kicked a wasp’s nest and got a nastier response . I watched and listened for a logical and thoughtful response but got absolutely none . Instead it was a fit of self righteous indignation that I dare harbor such thoughts . At one point I saw the veins in his neck begin to protrude and thought the best thing to do at that point was to move to the next hole and play on . It was however quite telling that he could not muster one coherent rebuttal to my meager observation . As I think of it now it is very sad , very sad indeed ………………………….
A friend of mine had a similar experience, the vein bulging outrage at thinking Trump and Harper weren’t the nexus of evil.
The emotional ones were easy to fool with a Harper edifice of a nasty Canada hater, in effect a caricature of themselves, something our PM pushed away for years but when everybody bailed and Sun TV went down, it was too late to reverse, allowing the fake populist Trudeau room to revolutionize by tweaking to save the middle class from their prosperity.
I believe Trump has familiarized himself with the Harper saga, and is bound and determined to not allow that.
His unconventional conduct (to say the least) and constant twittering has bypassed and enraged the chattering class, who now follow him around like a spoiled child who didn’t get their way.
IOW, they’re on the wrong channel, the one where Trump is a maniac, bent on blowing up the planet, while in it for himself.
The whole Russia sham is transparently stupid. It strains credulity to believe the Russians (or the Chinese) “preferred” Donald Trump. That never made sense. If it were true, then the world would have already seen Hillary’s emails.
It’s coming to an end and with no factual backup of evil Harper/Trump emotional beliefs, the only resort is confusion, and like a wounded political animal, to strike out. Indignation is all they have left.
the ignorance is spread a little wider than just “in the liberal” mind set. Last Can. federal election I discussed Harper with a few people, and all of them, left and rite gave emotional based responses, every f*cking one!!!!
So I as a man can have a period. My hemroids may occasionally bleed but that may not count
