  1. According to science, anything that tastes good but their current data says is bad for you will probably kill you. Anything that’s good for you, according to data, but isn’t particularly tasty will make you wish it killed you after you’ve been eating it for several years.

  2. We’ve never had butter in our home and health concerns have never been the reason. We refuse to support a system that doubles the cost of a product with a cartel that limits supply. Screw that.

    1. We have always used butter and no issues here as well actually my doctor says that he has patients that would kill me for my blood pressure…

  3. Just getting over a heart attack and now taking 11 various pills including statins after having 3 stents put in. Seems family history is the greatest indicator of heart problems. It is also stated that taking an aspirin every day is only beneficial after a heart attack not before. To keep your heart healthy as possible requires raising your heart rate through exercise not just passive walking.

    1. Glad you’re still here David. Have a friend – early 60s – healthy, very physically active, non-smoker, light or social drinker… had a massive heart attack; survived and had surgery to get 3 or 4 stints and still on many medications now. And yes serious heart issues are in his family.
But at least he and you are still around.
Few years back I had ‘high’ bad cholesterol – but I refused the satins choosing instead to try diet changes to move the numbers and make my physician happy.
      Take care.

  4. Heart attacks, stents…
When do you suppose that universal health care will decide it is better for the community that they let you die, rather than bear the cost of treatment?

People always laugh the loudest and longest at the people who come closest to the truth; DEATH PANELS, Sarah Palin.
Right to die becomes duty to die.
Voluntary organ donation becomes mandatory; for the greater good, don’t you know. For the “community”.

If I ever get in charge, I think I will institute the death penalty for everyone who ever used the word “community” in a positive way. It is a clear indication you are dealing with a socialist, and socialists rarely go apostate.

    Yes, it is a religion.
I have noted many times that Christian socialists, are only ever socialists.
    Democratic socialists, only ever socialists.

    1. “When do you suppose that universal health care will decide it is better for the community that they let you die, rather than bear the cost of treatment?”

I’ve asked that myself, lately. It will only do so when other people drive a stake through the financial heart of “Healthcare”. I should have died 6 years ago, or to put it another way….been allowed to die, if I followed the anti peoplekind mantra. Quietly, doped up to the eyeballs until I was DEAD. Would have saved the health care system (& every one of you reading this) a lot of money, in the long run. However, “they” didn’t allow that to happen & guess what, I funded the health care system for 2 more years, 1.5 years after recovering from cancer surgery, while taking some very expensive drugs, by going back to work. I retired only because work in my field disappeared with the last oil downturn, plus treatment was not going well at the time. Good timing. I gave myself up as a guinea pig for the greater good at that point.

Voila! I’m off treatment right now after 2 years, with pretty good results & only looking ahead to deal with some lung tumors that will be zapped soon with radiation. The other ones in the other lung have “disappeared” as if by magic. Something to do with the treatment. Should I be dead? Should I have said “Nah, save it for someone else, I’ve lived a full life (sigh)” & slid into oblivion? No way. The “system” wanted to learn a few more things from me yet & traded that with I suppose a newer lease on life, so that some of you doofus’ can reap the benefits of my experiences on different treatments. You’re welcome.

I feel a bit like the first man on the moon in some ways. Lighter, too in other ways (there are parts missing). I’m sure there are a few more like me wandering around with that new lease on life, with no recognition as to their contribution to medical science & your future treatments. I have a real problem with luddite thinking, especially on the climate file/population reduction/anti carbon thingy. People who think that way should be given every opportunity to “take off, eh” & leave the rest of us alone to enjoy this life & world, without your dead weight around our necks.

      1. Attitude is a little thing that makes a difference….
It is the courage to continue that counts.
        Original Quote by Winston Churchill

Way to go ya old fart!

        1. Cheers to you, ya old boot! Attitude is one thing this old cowboy has lots of. As one old boot once said: “‘Day ain’t done yet”.

  5. They lost me with bacon (bad for you). They got me back with wine (good for you).
They lost me forever with meat (bad for you). I salute them with a bacon-wrapped steak and glass of wine. I’m never going back (i.e. listening to medical experts). If I want someone’s finger up my bum I’ll join the Catholic Church.
When it comes to medical research, it’s almost ALL bull shit. Except maybe for childhood cancer research, which I hope is still done with integrity. And maybe stem-cell research, because it could lead to new breakthroughs.
But anything to do with food, digestion, health, longevity, anti-aging – it is all made up nonsense.

  6. I consider margarine to be one of THE most dangerous food products ever devised in a laboratory. I eat the way my ancestors (the French) ate … sweet cream butter … mmm mmm mmm ! In moderation … in EVERYTHING. Spray-on cooking grease/goo is about the most nasty thing anyone could ever do to their meals. Gross!

I am blessed with a body that produces more GOOD cholesterol than bad. You ARE your genes. There’s no escaping it.

  7. I am a pig.
my metabolism is hard wired to burn off calories in body heat after my 1st 5 yrs of life in an uninsulated, unheated (save the wood burning kitchen stove papa would stoke upon getting up for work at 5 a.m.). therefore I can pig out with impunity and hover around 195 lbs for the past, oh, 3 decades.

some days I crap 3 or 4 times before lunch. all that butter helps move it out if ya know whut I mean.
for me butter is a vital ingredient in proper intestinal function.
