    1. Can you imagine what effect that’ll have on the music business? That famous song by Patti Page will have to be banned because that doggie is held captive in a pet store. All recordings by Three Dog Night will be forbidden. And don’t forget that line about working like a you-know-what in the song A Hard Day’s Night, as well as the movie by the same name, and the Shakespearean send-up by Peter Sellers:

          The last dachshund in the family (or dackel, as they’re nicknamed in German) was like the first one in the video: a short-haired miniature male and equally as mischievous. The way the one in the video played with the box is exactly how our critter would do something like that, though perhaps more noisily.

          One variety that wasn’t shown is the long-haired. All the ones my parents had, except for the last one, were long-haired miniature females and they were gorgeous!

          One commenter said ‘”you never have just one dachshund”‘, and that’s true. One dackel isn’t enough, but two might be too many, as my parents found out.

          And do you suppose the Liberals will mandate that household pets be banned and confined to a Zoo?

          Apparently Dr. Fruit Fly, in one of his TV mini-series from some 30 years ago, said that people shouldn’t be allowed to keep pets and that the critters should, instead, run free. That comment alone was enough to turn my mother against him. They looked after their dachshund at the time as if she was their own child and she definitely had a better life as a pet than if she had been out in the wild.

        Patti hada great version of Doggie in the Window but the cornball duo Homer and Jethro had, “How much is that hound dog in the winder?” as paraody.

        Homer and Jethro played the part of country buffoons but they were anything but. Accomplished musicians of the highest order Jethro Burns played with and recorded with many jazz players of the day. They did a version of “Baby it’s Cold Outside” with June Carter on the Johnny Cash Show. It was two guys with one woman….think about it. Cornball in the extreme but nobody complained or were offended. It was considered entertainment and funny. It’s probably on the net somewhere.

          The graphics were funnier in this version even though it was hastily put together. The duo seem to be singing something else and their lip movements are way off. Makes it even funnier! The lyrics are clever and very funny too. I never heard about this duo, so TQ.

          (BTW: their version of “Baby Its Cold Outside” with June Carter on the Johnny Cash Show, as shown on YouTube, was from 1949 and was scratchy with poor sound, but it is a cute version, nevertheless)

          If I may, the expression, ‘dog eat dog world’ (canis caninam non est) comes from a Roman scholar, Marcus Tarentius Varro from 43 B.C. In 1602 William Shakespeare used the same idea in ‘Troilus and Cressida,’ but the expression became popular by the Industrial Revolution and the expression became commonplace.

          Yes, neither do I see anything wrong with the expression, I was just musing because it seems that some people have to mess with things.

    1. Well Congratulations to Angela. (she surely looks better than that other famous Angela, Mutti Merkel. Heh, heh!) I guess hormones are working, looks like a breast enhancement though, ahh, scandalous to say… excuse me! These people have a high suicide rate, but ‘she’ looks pretty though.

      First it was in the sports world and now this. Men should have no fear of being irrelevant then. Just kidding, not applicable to confident S.D.A. Gentlemen Readers. Actually, Beauty Contests are on the way out, right… at least for ‘real’ women. (Should there be a new category for size? It matters, right…but I digress!)

      And… my point is…….
      On Wednesday December 5th, I went for a Bone Densitometry Exam and never had so much fun previously, during this15 minute test. The form that I had to fill out with the usual standard questions had one ‘new’ question never before seen by yours truly. Get this: the form questioned whether my present gender was ‘assigned’ to me at birth. What? Ahh, ha ha ha! And of course, it questioned what my gender was, in fact. What? Ahh, ha ha ha! I crossed out the word ‘assigned’ and added a note that I was, in fact, ‘born’ this way, that is, a female!

      Later, they said that they saw my note and said that that new question was added to the form a couple of weeks ago. They ‘had’ to do this because a transgender person recently took offense when they wondered why ‘she’ had such strong bones and no ovaries! Men ‘her’ age don’t require this test because bone density isn’t usually an issue! So, this is another issue where trannies have implicated themselves. Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s okay, it’s really okay! Ah, ha,ha,ha!

      So the women in the place and myself proceeded to tell each other ‘dirty’ jokes. A good time was had by all.

      P.S. If you feel like you have to chastise………I’m sorry if I offended anyone. It is, what it is, …a true story! Heh! Heh!

    2. Actually, we have Trump to thank for this.

      It all started several years ago when a Canadian xim/xer/xit was disqualified from, I think, the Miss Universe contest here in Canada. Xim/xer/xit threatened to sue him, with the assistance of professional ambulance-chaser Gloria Allred, because he owned the show at the time. He avoided a court fight by giving permission, but, if I remember correctly, he sold his interest in MU soon after that.

    2. I recall comments that the old Frank magazine made about him. I think he was head of the Canadian Space Agency at the time, and he wasn’t regarded as being the sharpest knife in the drawer by his subordinates, despite having a Ph. D.

      Frank may have been a scandal rag, but it was often accurate.

      I realize that the PM has no intention of backing off the carbon tax but his ministers should have reason to think twice about it.
      Ask Mr. Mulroney who introduced the GST prior to an election if that helped his party win re-election; from government to 2 seats.
      People are not stupid; they don’t want a tax on everything right now. Give that some thought.

    This article reminds me of what my late grandfather told us on one occasion. He said that after the 1905 revolution failed in Russia people laughed, after the October 1917 revolution they no longer laughed.

    1. The article makes no sense. One part of government believes $11 billion in a pension fund is an asset and the other believes it is not (because the government does not have ready access to it).

      I’m not an accountant (thank GOD!) but you don’t just stick $11 billion into a pension fund and call it an asset. Is this amount a surplus over what the government is obliged to contribute? If so it is an asset, even though the government doesn’t have easy access to it. There are many such assets, including government buildings etc, that could be sold to generate cash, and through their appraised values represent assets.

      But if the $11 billion is not a surplus, it has to be balanced against the liability (future pension payouts). The fact that the Auditor General calls the move “legal” but “not right” is a problem. Assume, for example, that the $11 billion in pension contributions is an asset. Can the government take some of that money to pay other bills, or is that money allocated for future pension payments only? If the latter I am glad I won’t be relying on the government for my pension payments.

      People criticize Sears for making dividend payments and then going broke 3-4 years later, leaving pensioners on the hook. Is this potentially what our government is doing by allowing pension contributions to be see as an asset on the government books?

  10. The huge news today is that a Chinese corporate biggie, a Ms. Wanzhou, was arrested by Canadian police, for U.S extradition. World stock markets have turned south for this reason (and others). So look for a lot of media-led hysterics to have the good woman released. It seems like her corporation has been selling industrial equipment to Iran. So the corporate media, the China-Canada lobby, pro-Iranian Muslims, and anti-Tumpers — all of these and more — will be lobbying Trudeau to let the woman go. Betcha Justin Trudeau will be listening.

    1. Considering how many university faculty that are now hired are Chinese and how much research that used to be conducted by industrial firms has been farmed out to academe, I expect that a few professors might soon be in handcuffs themselves.

    1. Bongo admitted today that the PMO had advanced warning of this. He couldn’t elaborate on it as, “it’s before the courts”. The standard Canadian dodge. Everything has to have a gag order on it in the Canadian justice system because, YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH. actually Canadians are able to handle the truth – it’s the politicians who don’t want to us to know the truth.

      The arrest will have repercussions here in Canada especially if we turn her over to the Americans.

    1. Read the transcript; it takes less time, and only has a few typos/spelling errors. Still something that should be shouted from the rooftops, showing that the alarm is based on faulty (f*a*d*l*nt) data. Send copies to your elected reps (an exercise in futility, I am sure).
