Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I am a retired white female, with a bachelor’s degree and had been self-employed for 25 years but worked in my profession for 30 years and then changed careers. I voted for the NDP twice, once in my early 20’s and then in 1991 for Bob Rae’s NDP party in Ontario because I was so upset with both the provincial Liberal and Conservative parties in Ontario. I will NEVER vote NDP again. I am socially liberal but financially conservative. Sadly, the only political party with whom I feel at home is Maxime Bernier’s party. Do they have a chance federally? Probably not, but I will vote for them (unless Saskatchewan and Alberta opt for independence!) I try to have friends from the other parties and NOT talk politics with them. Somehow, the subject ALWAYS comes up and they show their intolerance very quickly.
Yeah, I suspect if you voted Bob Rae once, that door NEVER closes. You would vote Bob Rae again, given the right chance, I am sure.
This is the mechanism that supports “safe” ridings. It is why Ralph is always guaranteed to be reelected in Wascana Center. You ask people, they say things like “oh, Ralph always delivers the goodies back to his riding”. It doesn’t matter that he gave 10.5 to Khadr. Doesn’t matter that he wants carbon tax. Nothing matters in a lawless, corrupt, post national region, where everyone is disarmed, and the only thing to fear is the withdrawal of government “services”.
Actually, I was horrified to discover that the Ontario NDP had won the next day! I was voting for them as a protest vote, never thinking they would win. I suspect/think that is what happened in Alberta 5 years ago. People voted for Rachel Notley and the NDP as a protest vote, against the corruption of the PC party (NO party should ever be in power for 45 years!) and the provincial Liberals were no better. Albertans have had to live with their choice. They have the opportunity in May to change their future.
That’s kind of like being horrified by Hitler, and therefore voting for Stalin.
If you want to protest, don’t vote. Or vote for an independent.
Yeah … I should have voted for Jill Stein instead of Trump. What a horrific binary choice … Hitlery or Stalin’s-Bitch, Trump.
Didn’t work out that way.
Big Momma. You are correct, it was protest voting against a corrupt Conservative government, and the Wildrose leader having a brain-fart. Alberta had never had an NDP government, so were not acquainted with the type of economic destruction they ALWAYS bring, to EVERY jurisdiction they control. I don’t think the remaining Albertans will EVER make that mistake again.
I’m with you on Maxime.
– but remember; thanks to the miracle of “vote-splitting”, which the Liberals have shown they well-understand, and our current Prime Minister getting a majority with even less percentage of the popular vote than Harpo got…
– A vote for Maxime is a vote for Trudeau.
I work in the mining sector at a professional level and have now lived through two instances of the provincial NDP obliterating the resource sectors – forestry, mining, and oil & gas (farming). Don’t get me wrong, I would like to see a healthy diversified economy. But why to they alway kill the drivers of the Canadian economy? The NDP always leaves unemployment in their wake.
Canadians should be wealthy, but our country is crumbling.
Both provincially and federally, I have always voted conservative however this time federally I’m switching to the PPC and Max!
In my opinion, Andy is just another smarmy globalist who will act no differently than the Turd.
The only choice for true conservatives and liberals looking for a government that has a potential to actually represent Canadians is the PPC.
If either the conservatives or liberals form the next government, nothing substantial will change.
In todays Nanos poll Max came in at .07%. Miles behind Lizzard May.
Maybe try the Libertarian Party.

They’ll never get elected in Bananada.
…”Jefferson County, New York, is extremely chill.”…
Wiki: Jefferson County New York
Legislative authority is vested in the county Board of Legislators which consists of 15 members each elected from single member districts for two-year terms.[13] As of 2018, there are 14 Republicans and 1 Democrat.
Draw conclusions now.
Be sure to include fancy stuff like conservative heterogeneity in your analysis and critique of the finding: “extremely chill”
Urban bigot? My preferred term is Coastal c*nt.
I have a few words to say on that topic.
I cannot stomach liberals. I used to try, but no more. They are insane.
I guess that covers it.
My arch-conservative, John Birch Society family had very little to do with my political beliefs. My grandparents were polite racists, and my alcoholic father was more a cautionary tale than inspirational mentor. I was a moderate hippie in the 70’s, with a proverbially young heart which grew into a conservative brain.
My conservatism springs from inborn analytical pragmatism. I don’t suffer fools, and have ZERO tolerance for bullshitters. So that pretty much excludes 96.66% of everyone and everything on the Left.
We’re cut from the same cloth. I used to hate hearing my father tell me (when I was young and naive) that the harder I worked for a dollar, and the older and wiser I got, the more conservative I would become.
But he was right.
The assumption is that the urban bigots would get on better with decent people from the provinces if they knew more people from the provinces.
Consider that many of those urban bigots are from the provinces themselves. They left the provinces because they were too proud or greedy to see when they were well off, and now quite enjoy rubbing their privilege in the faces of their families back in the bush—if they even still speak to their families.
There were few outlets for Gerald Butts’ greed, ambition and cunning back in a mining town in Nova Scotia, fortunately for his family’s neighbours. Just for example. To get to the place Gerry thought he was owed in life, he had to get into Justin Trudeau’s bed in Montreal. Justin wasn’t coming to Nova Scotia.
You’ve described the demographics of California. Land of the fruits and nuts who escaped their fly-over States where their particular deviation didn’t play too well with the locals. So they all come here. To the land of misfit toys. Where everyone is “accepted”.
You see the results
I suspect Saint Andreas will eventually shake these fleas off her back with exponential g-forces.
“Why you fool, it’s the educated reader who CAN be gulled. All our difficulty comes with the others. When did you meet a workman who believes the papers? He takes it for granted that they’re all propaganda and skips the leading articles. He buys his paper for the football results and the little paragraphs about girls falling out of windows and corpses found in Mayfair flats. He is our problem. We have to recondition him. But the educated public, the people who read the high-brow weeklies, don’t need reconditioning. They’re all right already. They’ll believe anything.”
