The Rapid Decline of the U.S. West Coast Cities

This compassionate story is about Seattle but could clearly be about Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or a host of other places. Take one guess what all of these cities have in common.

  1. I someone who lives near Seattle and works as a medical person.
    This story nails it!
Going down-town can be a real eye opener and a sad at the same time.
Plus be ready to protect yourself, some of the “bums” don’t take no for an answer.

      1. I have been saying for ages that if we are going to have legal weed, we may as well have legal ‘everything’, because it is only a matter of time! Well, here we are, lets just do it and get it over with.
Don’t waste everyone’s time and subsidize a whole bunch of lawyers. That is the direction that we are headed, it is only the result that is in question.

  2. Calgary and Edmonton are well on their way to looking the same. Isn’t Socialism wonderful?

    1. To make matters worse in Edmonton, the city council unilaterally decided that “immigrants” who don’t have their documents should not only be allowed to stay but use local facilities.

I called my ward alderthingy’s office about it and I was told that it was for the safety of those “immigrants”. Apparently, sending them back to their respective home countries might put their lives in danger if they went back to be properly processed. (There’s no neutral third country that could serve that purpose?)

The person I spoke with wasn’t impressed when I not only told her that I disagreed with it, being a naturalized Canadian myself, but that I not only paid taxes in this country, I vote as well.

    2. Calgary is well on the way to these problems. For one thing, you can build things there. Edmonton…well it’s always been terrible.

  3. My guess they are the same people that ran Detroit, Baltimore, Newark. Now running Chicago.

  4. You have a cold deep ocean right there and lots of dump trucks. The citizens have a choice, either die along with your city or fill those trucks with the human and physical waste rotting your city and dump it. Is this heartless and cruel, yes but what other real choice do these cities have as the Democrats destroy them. The US is being invaded by Central Americans, perhaps fill ships with the bums in these cities and drop them off in the Central American countries invading yours. Lots of serious options but none are good as the citizens of Seattle wait to get mugged or worse by these bums.

    1. The other choice is to fill the dump trucks with the bodies of the politicians and their families who delivered this result.

Just part and parcel of living in a Democrat run big city. All you princesses need to suck it up, and take your diversity plagues, stabbings, shootings, beheadings, and realize that you are stronger in death. Or something.

  5. Hey! At least, they’re getting a hockey team! Woo hoo! Seriously, when things get this bad, the only way to fix it is going to be, let’s face it, Draconian measures and the people who get elected don’t have it in them. On the other hand, who votes for these clowns? Oh right. The same folks who send Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi to congress. The same people who will vote for Bernie. For Justin. Progressive downfall. Venezuela? It’s already happening in the biggest cities of the USA and Canada.

  6. Been to Seattle about a year ago. Down from the fish market and across the street from the waterfront, there is a whole village of those that will not work for living.
Isn’t it interesting to note that all the big cities run by “Democrats”, socialists really are going down?

  7. These conditions mirror what much of the Soviet Union looked like for seventy years. Most of those people that had a roof over their head lived in multi-family apartments with common kitchens and bathrooms in which the infrastructure frequently malfunctioned or worked intermittently. Nobody gave a rip because they owned nothing except their personal items.

Except of course for those special apartments and dacha areas that were frequented by those that were more equal.

  8. I watched the whole thing.
NEar the end they offered Solutions.
MCNeil Bay, Wash., which housed either a state or Fed Prison, sits empty…could be used for treatment centre – re-Training for jobs etc…??

Rhode Island where they do the above and once they arrest them, give addicts 2 choices: Treatment or Jail. They tout a 93% Success Rate…I doubt Rhode Island is a Democratic stronghold…?

We are seeing the same PROGRESSIVE Socialist BS here in Canada…Criminal Justice continually being watered down, Safe injection sites in every city…. Hell, Politicians held unaccountable for their OWN Criminal deeds…

I think its being done on purpose……just on more “plank” in the transition to a Trans National (shithole), State…

    1. Safe injection sites work, and so does Canada’s CJ system. The US is ‘watering down’ it’s draconian CJ system bit by nit because it is senseless to throw people in jail for things like doing drugs the million other ‘felonies’.

      1. Safe injection sites can help to prevent the spread of disease, but what is the success rate for helping addicts get clean? Less than 10%?

        1. The definition is they get the UnWitted to vote for more of these failures. So yes, they “work.”

        2. “Safe injection sites work”… yep, they work at keeping people hooked on heroin… which makes sense to those that don’t give a shit about those that are addicted and wish to aid in the degradation…. just don’t get caught smoking a cig or vaping outside of the Government heroin den or you’ll be fined or arrested… a bizarre contradiction that only makes sense to those without sense.

        3. It reduces spread of disease.

Note that I don’t support taxpayer money being spent on these.

      2. Work? In what sense, does “work” describe these socialist constructs?

Our current leftwing regimes have ZERO interest in reforming or solving the problem, they’ve been able to create hundreds of poverty pimp government paid jobs, serving the useless, drugged out and wasted, by keeping them useless, drugged out and wasted.

Gubmint unions are VERY happy with this arrangement, and it keeps growing, because, this is NOT a solution to the problem, its a co-dependent, dysfunctional arrangement, helping the addicts and drunks to STAY addicted, drugged and drunk forever.

Thats why the problem keeps getting worse, the governments are encouraging the useless to stay useless, no penalties, no law enforcement, no jail, but lots and lots of free stuff. Free food, free drug kits, free injection sites, where helpers can hold the rig, hold your arm, and say nice things about your addictive behaviour.

        Soon, FREE DRUGS!

      3. You didn’t watch it did you? Typical. Facts be damned. We know what’s right. This is exactly what the Seattle council thinks and why they have a shithole.

  9. It ain’t just the West Coast cities. Every shithole in the US is going through the same decline. And it don’t matter whether their leaders are Democrats or Koch-sucking Rove Republicans. Shitholes are shitholes. And that includes Nawlins and the Windy Shitty and the Big Craphole and Filthydelphia and Ratlanta and Detroit and Houston and Dallas and Miami and even Salt Lake City.

  10. Strange, isn’t it – almost like it was prophesied . And this from someone that belongs to no institution !

  11. Hey, it’s happening in Ottawa: https://www.tvo.org/article/its-not-the-location-its-the-approach-say-opponents-of-ottawa-homeless-mega-shelter

The beggars and bums are affecting business and condo values in the By-ward Market area, so City Council engineered a sneaky deal to move the problem to an area of the city that had less political clout. And then true to form, dishonestly claimed that the move had nothing to do with the negative impact of street bums.

    1. In my first two years immigrating to Canada (1970-1971), I was very poor, working for various restaursnt jobs before returning to school. I lived in the By Ward market area (Clarence Street), behind a fish market. Way back then, the By Ward Market was working-class poor, mostly French Canadian, with a smattering of small Jewish retail shops. It only became trendy and yuppie later on. Never used the Salvation Army facilities on Booth Street though.

  12. Putting on my historical hat, not my political hat… the communists always believed that drug abuse and sexual degeneracy were powerful weapons for the revolution, this is well documented.

Also “Cloward-Piven”… “The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of “a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty”.

My favourite line from that documentary was the one about the situation being absolutely, as in almost 100%, an addiction crisis and yet the people in charge call it a “homeless” crisis… if they can’t even identify what it is how can they possibly do anything about it?

    1. ” the communists always believed that drug abuse and sexual degeneracy were powerful weapons for the revolution”

So that’s why Chairman Mao executed drug dealers and Castro banned homosexuality?

      1. *
“unme squeals… Chairman Mao executed drug dealers.”

“The only outrage here is the continued persecution of people for
committing non-crime such as drug dealing and owning guns.”

unme, sweetie… i thought you be embarrassed to show your face
after mounting a defense of canada’s biggest opioid dealer ever.
btw… also the guy who bailed out the beaches shooter’s brother.

is maisum ansari a family member?

        *

      2. My god you are the the most pitifully stupid person! Yes they banned them in their own country, and encouraged it in their enemies countries!

        1. China is the main supplier of Fentynol the drug that is killing thousands of westerners every Month… of course the chinamen wouldn’t be able to kill North Americans with killer drugs if it wasn’t for the Liberal Party aiding and abetting the commie State. Maybe thats why Turdhole “admires” Chinas basic dictatorship so much, they help to kill so many westerners, although he wouldn’t be the first Liberal to admire a brutal commie regime.

          1. China isn’t killing anyone. No one is forced to take fentanyl. Once again, the Chinese are efficiently manufacturing a product the west desperately wants.

      3. Sorry, Unme, but you cannot be a pro-drug libertarian and a Chicom admirer at the same time.

  13. I’d be happy to see Climate Barbie and PM Socks go to Quebec and Victoria and put an end to their dumping of pure shit into the St Lawrence River and the Pacific. Putting a price on carbon is a drop in the ocean, forcing people to pay for nothing but grabbing money, hurting Justy’s so called middle class and those working to join it. It’s going to be a lean summer for travel,
five cents a litre for gas PLUS tax is not affordable for most.

We have the most farcical government in our history, it’s beyond a joke, it’s killing our economy across the spectrum.
We won’t get started on corrupt practices until the RCMP are called in to clear things up and find out how close we are to a banana republic.

    1. “until the RCMP are called in to clear things up” Kelly

Why would the RCMP need to be called in ? Do you think they are handcuffed by political considerations?,,,,,,
In the USA I expect the FBI to be running investigative task forces at all times.. It’s called pro-active policing, the FBI were in/on the Chicago justice farce before the media called for them, after the fact….

      JMHO

  14. The question of…why…do politicians cling to such obvious wrongness… never really gets asked….and never answered.

Why? Why would anyone run their HOMETOWN into a disgusting cesspool?

Without an elaborate display of homelessness, drug addiction, victimhood and rage, a Democrat campaign has no foothold. They are the party of the disenfranchised….so they NEED to create disenfranchised folks to have a niche, to be relevant. Seattle is exactly the way Democrat’s need it to be. Look around, it’s repeated all over the U.S.

  15. Kelly, just read unDorks comments, and you have your answer. Total lack of intellectual awareness. The world has become very complex , and most people are unable to deal with that, so they “emote”

  16. “Take one guess what all of these cities have in common.

    They has teh liberal.

  17. Compelling doc that everyone should see. One problem only briefly alluded to in the video is why those negatively affected do not organize to vote out those Democratic party overlords who run the decrepit system. The people who suffer the results of the rotting, left-wing system to not organize to defeat the politicians.

Look at the two examples in the video. First, a Jewish-American, with his cemetery becoming desecrated, all on his own decides to run for city council. But he hss no organization to back his solitary effort. Second, a small group of construction hardhats, spontaneously on their own, demonstrate against a left-lib- councilwoman. The councilwoman, along with her left-wing supporters, are well organized. The construction workers are not. After their demonstration, what will they do next?

I agree with those on this thread who worry that Canadian cities will become like Seattle. But nearly all large cities are run by left-wing ideologues (Toronto and Calgary are examples). It could be that our cold winters help minimize the problem. But still, I wonder why conservatives do not organize for local elections.

    1. As a friend of mine facetiously says, “Don’t confuse us with facts, we have issues.” Explains how they avoid seeing what is before their eyes and fall back to their ideology instead. Thus it’s a homeless problem.

      1. Thomas, I stick to my assertion that conservatives (and reasonable centrists) upset with the drug and homeless epidemic must organize themselves properly and vote out the pro-organized-crime leftists.

  18. “But still, I wonder why conservatives do not organize for local elections.”

Municipal politics involves many issues that transcend partisanship or at least should do. Sewer, water, garbage, parks, sidewalks, roads, and bridges usually don’t jump out and say NDP, Conservative, or Liberal but unfortunately have gotten that way with the rise of green theocracy. Municipalities are continuously bombarded with green propaganda and associated rent-seekers.

While I was a small town Councillor during province-wide conventions, it became apparent to me that most municipal politicians were in training for higher office. In resolution sessions it was also obvious that most municipal politicians were oblivious to the notion of subsidiarity and readily inserted themselves into issues of provincial and federal or planetary jurisdiction. The two are obviously related.

Few conservatives ever enter municipal politics just as few rate payers act as conservatives in that the clamor for free stuff is omnipresent. It is also the natural habitat for the “planner” as planning the future of the community is an inherent responsibility. Reigning-in the reach and actions of municipal government is an honorable conservative pursuit but one that is thankless, lonely, and perhaps difficult to campaign on in the big cities.

  19. THE US NINTH Circuit is Common.
Trump is playing Chess & the corrupt 9th Circuit are playing Marbles.
The Border drug, PPL, and Gang Smuggling is a product of the 9th Circuit Judgements
The Blocking of Pipelines & environmental fraudulent (preventing legal challenge) judgements are all in the Corrupt 9th circuit….
The 9th circuit Controls 100% of the access to the Pacific tide water… Insane corruption
One bang and they are gone…NOW JMHO

BTW: See McSally is on board, good on her

    1. “The Border drug, PPL, and Gang Smuggling is a product of the 9th Circuit Judgements”

Nope. It’s purely a result of prohibition. If you want the black market to go away, legalize it.

      1. Like Seattle has done? Stop criminalizing people for having 30 doses of hard drugs on their person?

  20. I watched the whole thing and I don’t recall the words Democrat or Democratic Party uttered at all.

    1. This documentary was produced by the local Seattle ABC television station for viewers in that market. Those viewers know that their city and state are currently run by “D”emocrats.

When/if conservatives ever take charge there, they must do what Rhode Island is doing. Too many conservatives are good at locking up drug users and sellers, but they oftern fail at providing treatment for them in the jails.

  21. yep.

and the elites just pay some illegal with a trowel to lay another couple courses of brick on the gated commuuuuuunity walls . . . .
hint: this kinda thing been going on since the depths of the roman empire.
