  1. There are 3 legal retailers in BC.
The dispensaries are still open. None of that is being accounted for still.
Some half-assed mail order delievery. Because pot heads are known for their long term planning skills.
    WTF did they expect?

    1. “Because pot heads are known for their long term planning skills”

Might want to Google successful people who smoke pot. It ain’t limited to Snoop.

      1. People who use exceptions and or anomalies as common and or generalities might smoke too much pot.

      2. For every successful person who smokes pot, there are a thousand that sit on their ass and do nothing. The exception isn’t the rule.

        1. I am grateful that so many sit on their ass and do nothing. That clears the field for those of us who are willing to do things to generate some prosperity in our lives. I always appreciate a shortage of competition, it makes it so much easier. By the by … I am a life long pot user. Have been broke …. have had success. So far so good.

Remember the one snag in the grand capitalist scheme is … ‘Anyone’ can be successful with almost anything they want to do, but not everyone.”

There is a limit to how much grand success is possible in any population. Losers are part of the system, but they too can move up and be replaced by new up-and-coming losers and so on. There us mobility for the motivated.

In socialism everyone is a loser and there is no upward mobility outside of government. Nobody gets rich in a socialist society … well … crooks and politicians do, but I repeat myself.

One last item. I knew the government pot scheme would blow up in their faces. They are in a business they know nothing about. The also do not understand the pot culture nor anything about the many fine mom and pop growers whose clientele is solid.

        2. Sorry Joey…but that comment is so much complete and utter BS. Watch Reefer madness much..??

I smoke it from time to time since the Early 70’s, now it helps me sleep actually. Never did sit on my ass & enjoyed salaries from 85 – 250k annually prior to semi retirement….as do/did thousands.

          1. I second that.
mr joey is parroting archie bunker.

I smoke avg ONE joint before bedtime, slepp real good, wake up in 6 hours fully rested to begin the day working on my place, taking care of the critters, studying for my course, some blogging, do a workout which likewise helps with the sleep.
I do not have insomnia, aka sleepy but cant get to sleep. my gp explained its common for retire folks to not need sleep. good !!! I can get more done !!!

how many meds are in the official pharmaceutical reference? couple hundred thousand?
so, what the FCUK is the big ‘bugaboo’ about POT ???
’tis genetically fudged’ comes the reply. so?? there was a time it WASNT ‘fudged’, starting oh, roughly 1/2 a MILLION years ago . . . but in the 20th century, up pops the bugaboo anyway.

            why?
and seeing as the hard right sees no prob with genetically fudging lots of stuff, again, why why why the bugaboo when pot comes out of the same black box? hmmm?
            etc etc.

jeezuz murphy. ‘pots gonna fry yer brain ‘ that come out of the same urban legend factory as climate hysteria?

      3. Evil Wizard. Is that your way of telling us you’re brilliant? You might want to Google “Logic.”

      4. You might want to Google “unsuccessful people who smoke pot.” Which list do you think is longer?

        1. and, I betcha the lists for ‘who have grade school edukashun only’
and ‘who ignore sound financial prudence’
and ‘commit criminal acts regularly and get caught with equal frequency’
and ‘who neglect their health and watch sports all day instead of DOING sports’
          and and and and.
how long are THOSE lists as far as social failures?

          cue the pot bugaboo !!!

          1. “…how long are THOSE lists as far as social failures?”

More relevant question would be: are potheads overrepresented on those lists?

BTW that whooshing sounds is my point flying right above your head. Put the bong down and read it in the context of the post I was replying to.

  2. Well, duh. How did Petro Canada work out? Same as government run oil. Same as government run bricks, potatoes, shoes, healthcare,…

There is a reason the Laytons, the Trudeaus fly off to the Mayo clinic whenever they have a health issue.

    1. On the other hand, Norway’s state-run oil company is worth $40 billion USD and has created the over $1 Trillion USD oil fund.

      1. andydrew, with 5 and a haff million people, that one would be hard to phukk up. Butt then context wuz never a libtard strong point

      2. They have a very rich oil company and a poor country. Scandinavians have a very low standard of living.

  3. Another testament to government skill, expertise and foresight.
Even the Trudopers are laughing at the level of incompetence and utter disorganization government has brought to the “legalize” file.
More expense, poorer quality and unavailable….yup must have been some of those “Hogwart Hirees” the government is still looking to hire, who implemented this….Government orchestrated criminalizing of all who threaten their monopoly on drug sales.

Funny how the ordinary motorist had to be stripped of their last legal rights,to “allow legalization”.
And have some fun, research the massively increased penalty for those who grow grass in competition with the states favourite comrades.

    This is wizardry ….bureaucratic style.

    1. Apparently, now, older people experiencing pain cannot get their hands on “gummy bears,” which are said to be very popular to deal with joint pains.

      1. Not a problem in Alberta….Some in the Fridge right now. LOL..! (edibles).

Back in the Very Early 80’s, a buddy of mine and me, acquired a pair of 240VAC Metal halide lamps of the 1000 Watt Capacity. Using Hydroponics (dead simple using acquarium pumps and a pair of “waiter” bussing containers – one on top of the other w/rock wool and lava rocks. Within 6 mo. we had a crop of some of the finest herb in the city (Indica).!! Sold it in our cabs, (no heat score at the house). and Financed my college education.

One did what one could to pay for schooling right.?? Taxi and pot profits worked for me. lmao all the way to the bank. No regrets whatsoever.

Sitting on our ASSes … as if.

        1. And that was long, long before anyone had heard the term “grow op”. And it was….a small one. A 12 X 14 extra bedroom, we vented the skunky smell & moisture out the chiminy, had a T sized Cyl of CO2 with a 240 volt timer, powered the lights via the dryer receptacle with an adapter. Worked like a charm still have the pics to prove it.!

After 2 years and 8 crops, we shut er down, cleaned up… had a bit of mould – and as such we simply replaced/repainted the affected Drywall.

  4. ha ha ha !!!!
now I know the reason for that 4-20 gathering on parliament hill on saturday.
    ha ha ha !!!!
(psst, anybody want a reliable dealer? no seeds, good stuff, gives me the munchies big time, must be good!!)
    the ‘pot bubble’ ha ha ha !!!! whodathunkit . . . .
any sarcasm re gubbamint run bizznizz is all welcome.
I tried growing once, got NO assistance. they got reaaaaal spindly and fell over. ha ha ha !!!
then the gf did the same thing outside in the backyard, blabbed to everyone until they got stolen as soon as they got big enough
    for a couple joints.

  5. Silly smoke wasn’t exactly “legalized” so much as it was “regulated”, and in textbook form, the regulated market can’t compete with an underground economy that has had five decades to figure out how to serve customers while ducking the law. The MJ stock bubble is now feeding on the hope that by moving more into the (hopefully more legalized) US market, they can justify their valuations or at least forestall the crash.

    1. You’re right about the stock bubble. I subscribe to a certain financial periodical and, particularly in the last 2 years, there’s been an increase in the coverage for marijuana companies. It comes as no surprise that many of them are traded on the Vancouver exchange and are what one might classify as penny stocks.

I’ve been an investor long enough to stay away from such investments until things settle down. My rule of thumb is that by the time I hear of them, the easy money’s already been made and not by me. After that, ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances. My ex-broker once asked me when I wanted to buy certain stock, “How much can you afford to lose?” and, yes, I lost my shirt on that one.

The same can be said about this.

    2. We went from passive prohibition to draconian regulation, many more opportunities to go to jail now.

  6. Trudeau’s complete understanding of Money in one sentence. Trudeau overheard as a youth, drunk and in a phone booth years ago. “Shend New Money Old Money All Gone”.
He is still high on something and still in his phone booth mentally except now you elected the asshole to PM. And your still saying it wasn’t me!

  7. Medical pot, the biggest health scam ever, was where lots and lots of people were getting their bud. Themselves and many friends. So there will be no huge surge of buying. Just a decline in the medical stuff. Many regular tokers use only 1oz over many months, so it is unlikely to be the tax bonanza many thought legalization would be.

    1. Bruce, those ain’t regular tokers, they are lightweights. Over months!? Bwa ha ha. Regular tokers don’t pay tax for their bud, and they sensibly consume an ounce a week. Cough!

  8. Colour me shocked…lol
Colorado legalises and people come from all over States to take advantage
Canada legalises and people from all over Canada to take advantage…hmmm
No one else see that coming?
Meanwhile Zoolander taxes the clean air we breath

  9. It’s my understanding that a bunch of well-connected Liberal party operatives and a bunch of retired senior cops have locked in the cannabis corporate structures, all the officer and director positions, and hope for a pump and dump stock windfall to give them a shot at private-jet wealth, that’s probably why it’s such a ridiculously overpriced vegetable.

    1. Like I mentioned in my earlier comment, whenever I hear of such investments (often touted as “sure things”), I can almost guarantee that the easy money’s already been made, and by someone else.

    2. yep.
google ‘julian fantino’ THE most CORRUPT opp commissioner ever.
and a CONservatist mp under harper the demagogue to boot.
they all got what they deserved.
I had a $50 pot fine on my record, mtg broker would NOT tell me why the FCUK they would only renew 1 year @ top rate.
until I found out ’twas the fine.
so I emailed them TWO news stories about COPS in the pot bizznizz.
      they relented.

  10. I sometimes run into a guy on the river when I’m fishing. He’s my age and been involved in ‘the business’ all his life. Did a little time in the joint as he calls it in his youth. They did that back in the day when you got caught with dope.

Business is good according to him. No interruptions and his customers are still buying.

The guys that smoke a joint when the arthritis acts up in their knee are fooling themselves believing in the medicinal powers of ganga.
There are lots of proven drugs for pain relief. Nobody ever suggests that MJ can control serious (cancer) pain. So I’m ok with the guy who smokes a joint when his back is giving to too him but I’m under no illusion that pot is some kinda magic elixir that the medical world has yet to discover.

Bruce Ranta is correct. The guys who used medical pot are now probably buying at the government store….without a prescription. The rest is business as usual. No new market.

    1. CBD is the product that is the extracted pain relief, which is not psychoactive. My neighbour swears by it for his rotator cuff pain, 67 years old, and doesn’t want to get high. Problem with CBD is the product quality is all over the map, and often is mixed with THC. Not everyone wants to be stoned or fcked up.

  11. “Marijuana Sales in Canada Are Going Nowhere Fast, Analysts Say”

Hahahaahahahahahahahahahahaha! My sides are aching from laughing so much!

    You couldn’t make this up!

  12. And it is just a matter of time before the class action lawsuits start pouring in when the true medical contraindications become widespread. Just like cigarettes.

  13. A buddy of mine had a sore back and took a pill with THC in it for relief. I asked him if it helped and he said “No”. What it did do was make it so he didn’t care about the very sore back he had. It didn’t relieve the pain at all. As for the legal retailers and growers – What were you thinking?! How foolish is that? The stuff is sold all the time by people that don’t have your overhead and taxes. You can not compete. No one who uses a lot of it would ever buy it from a store. It costs too much. If they are serious they can grow their own and supply all their friends.

  14. Maybe if you could actually buy it somewhere with any assurance of quality. Leave it to the government to screw up even drug sales.

    1. When the Canadian government supplied medical marijuana they lost a fortune. They actually sold drugs to addicts on credit. Not a smooth business move.

      1. Liberals suck at business that’s why and marijuana legalization was a joke the minute it was tabled by Trudy.
If the liberals think they can control organized crime well that’s a huge contraction right there because they are the party of organized crime.

The echo chamber gets bigger and voices of reason go silent.

  15. JJM – I think they are referring to the stuff sold at the pot stores.

Canadians are one of the largest users of pot in the world. Those that don’t partake are not likely going to start just because it’s been legalized.

  16. Justin tried to get cash from the wealthy and middle-class. He tanked the oil sector. He screwed up on trade. He really thought that potheads would be his financial salvation.

He is not going to let go of the carbon tax and that will sink him.

  17. Just proves Milton Friedman’s old line that if the government took over the Sahara desert, there’d be a sand shortage within a couple years. BTW, StatsCan the other day noted that government weed costs, on average, 57% more than black market weed, which explains the lack of revenue.

    1. Economics – the ONE TRUTH of humanity’s earthly existence. Economics is human survival. The rules of economics are the rules of survival. Purchasing a product at half again as much as necessary is economic suicide. Most humans are not suicidal, and will NOT pay half again as much for an unnecessary product.

Your Sock Puppet PM has never stopped suckling at the teat of his massive $$$ trust fund. Therefore he’s never had to survive in the REAL economic world. He has no survival skills or knowledge. He’s missing an essential element of humanity … an understanding of economic survival. Following him and entrusting him to lead you is voluntary suicide. Oddly, half of our two nations are made up of suicidal voters. I suppose they will only learn of their mistake when ALL is taken from them.

  18. Isn’t this just everyday, run of the mill Liberal operations? I mean they make the promise, they carry out the promise and then fail to deliver!
Only a Liberal government could screw up the drug trade!
    Makes me laugh…

    1. Roger that my friend…!! Did in the past…and may well do it again…Just need to score some nice indica seeds.

  19. Know a vet clinic who had a pot shop open in the same mall. On opening day for the pot shop – with lineups stretching all over the place and the clinic staff scrambling to ensure their patients could actually get to them – the clinic advertised on Facebook that, in honour of the shop opening several doors down, they would be giving out free catnip while supplies lasted.

  20. The dimmer bulbs in the Trudeau administration managed to confuse “decriminalization” with “legalization”. Legalization meant that large numbers of wildly incompetent bureaucrats at the federal and the provincial level got to stick their oar in.

    Hopeless.

It is not so much the regulations – which are merely silly – as the vastly incompetent way in which the prohibitionist dim bulbs are slow-walking the process.

    1. The idiots did not realize that their so called legalization made it much easier for street sellers, for want of better description, to sell their product because no one can now ask you where you got your “legal” weed.

      1. The party of organized crime obviously knew that and figured it was going to benefit the diversity and inclusion model. But diversity and inclusion means crime and terrorism to me because most of libranos I’ve met are pro gaslighting, deep stating or jailbaiting.
