    The spacecraft must be made entirely from recycled materials, such as plastic single-use drinking straws (recovered before they disappear forever), and fuelled by unicorn you-know-whats.

  2. Societies of colour had lots of opportunities to make incredible technical advances, e.g. China. They didn’t. Leftists get over it.

    When Europeans arrived in the Americas, did they find an advanced technical society? Nope.

    Africa with its vast resources did nothing technically after the Egyptians gave it an early lead.

    Even the modern left, as exhibited by the Soviet Union, squandered its technical advances, and failed.

    There is a theme for success here, and it’s not about race. The modern left would have us believe success is based on social justice, like crotch grooming rights. They are wrong.

      I remember hearing some stories about Africa. According to some sources, there were societies so advanced that they had hang gliders centuries before Otto Lilienthal made his flights. In other words, Wakanda wasn’t fiction. Never mind that there was no archaeological evidence presented to support such claims.

      I don’t think I heard that sort of thing after Nelson Mandela took over a president of South Africa.

      1. The real reason non-white societies are still murdering each other in shocking numbers? Because the white men invented steel. And brought machetes to their sunny island paradises. So now they hack each other to death with machetes. Prior to the white mans arrival, and his tools of death … minor disputes were settled with sticks and rocks. The world was so much more peaceful prior to white people.

      This was when the Italian Renaissance was in its nascent stage, Leonardo da Vinci was not to see the world until 1425, and Michelangelo 1450. In Europe, the crushing defeats of the fourth through ninth Crusades showed how weak it was, without the codes of chivalry protecting the clumsy knights in armor. This was forcefully demonstrated in 1453, when Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Empire. Scholars fleeing to Italy led to the blossoming of the Renaissance. But Columbus was not to set sail for the New World until 1492.
      Those are historical facts. Following are my interpretations.
      A weakened Europe starting to recover from the Black Death was lucky that the Red Sea and the Mediterranean were not connected. Otherwise, Zheng Ho would have “discovered” Europe seventy years before Columbus discovered the New World. Even then, the Santa Maria would hardly have been able to carry a cargo of a live elephant.
      China was the last to fall to the Mongols, and first to throw off its yokes, suffering Mongol rule for less than 80 years. The previous dynasty, Sung, was very prosperous. Even the general population, especially in the southeast, was, especially when compared to the miserable lives of the European peasants of the era. And the Ming dynasty (after the Mongols) quickly recovered that. It is fair to say, when Zheng Ho made his voyage, China had the dominant culture in the world.
      But Zheng Ho returned from his last voyage to find his Emperor dead and the new Emperor envious of his deeds and fame. From that point on, the Ming emperors decided that an ignorant populace is one easiest to rule. They discouraged all explorations and corrupted the examination system, through which the Chinese had found nuggets among even the poorest. The subsequent two centuries saw a steady decline of China. This was exacerbated by more and more severe taxes even as the world fell into the Little Ice Age.
      In the meantime, Europe began to prosper as a consequence of the Renaissance. In cold logic, perhaps it even benefited from the plague years. The Little Ice Age did not affect a reduced population nearly as much. In two hundred years, when the Ming dynasty fell to bandits amid total societal chaos, and China was occupied by the Manchurians, western Europe had forged the society that was ready for the Industrial Revolution. Rather than China discovering Europe, it was the Europeans (Dutch and Portuguese at first) who discovered China and the rest of Asia. The early Manchu emperors were quite capable, especially Kangxi, but the time has passed. It was China now who must learn from the technical advances of Europe.
      Yes, for the last five and a half centuries, Europe has been dominant, and (Europe and European Americans) were responsible for almost all the modern discoveries, even rediscovering things a decaying China had forgotten about. But it wasn’t always so. The height of Chinese civilization was reached by the Tang and Sung dynasties, when culturally it was dominant in the world. You may think of the seventh through eleventh centuries as ancient history, when England was fought for by warring tribes, and America only populated by first inhabitants who crossed the Bering Sea. But it was a period longer than the current European dominance, and I am sure the Sung Chinese were quite as smug of their achievements.
      China failed because of its political system. In an absolute monarchy society can fail because of a bad emperor much easier than succeed because of a good one. America has succeeded because of its political system, and our Founding Fathers had the foresight to insure a rule by law rather than a rule by men. Let us never forget that, and fight to keep what we have.

  3. During the TV coverage of the mission, I remember that reporters interviewed people in other countries to get their reaction. On the whole, most of them were impressed and excited. They didn’t see it so much as an American accomplishment but one, to borrow a phrase from the plaque attached to the Lunar Module, that was “for all mankind”.

    It was men, human beings, that set foot on the moon for the first time. The fact that it was Americans who did it was of little or no consequence. Had Soviet cosmonauts been the first ones, those people would have likely been equally as impressed.

  4. Women control a good 80 percent of consumption in advanced economies. Their contribution to making that consumption possible by growing things, making things or building things—much less coming up with better ways of doing all three—is vanishingly small.

    On the contrary—almost all the jobs women can do better than men and that they cannot perform on their backs have been automated or computerized. In my lifetime I expect the artificial uterus to be perfected and even the sisterhood’s monopoly on reproduction broken.

    At that point it will become extremely hard to argue that women are anything more than another pack of parasites overdue for the dustbin of human evolution, whose only remaining purpose in life is to march to polling stations and thrust globalist stooges into office in return for a cut of the money stolen from their long-suffering brothers, and empty promises of the happy day when they will rule a world freed from the “patriarchy.”

    The wonders man might have worked with the resources squandered on woman’s frivolity staggers the imagination. If man is serious about settling other planets, he needs to ask himself if he still cares to keep ungrateful woman in the manner to which she is accustomed on Earth—much less take her with him.

I find it ironic that negative rants about women are being by someone who calls himself a Canadian, made on arguably the best conservative web site in Canada – which is hosted by a hard working and articulate woman. I am a Veteran who served Canada for 35 years and had both men and women under my command – all professionals, all volunteers, and some made the supreme sacrifice for this country. Quite frankly, your comments detract from the quality of this site.

    1. Isn’t that the truth. I can still recall a futuristic film I saw as a kid which portrayed men and women of the future having vast amounts of Leisure Time, because robots and machines would do all the work. In that Future, the people were going to concerts, visiting foreign countries, and having a ball with their abundant leisure time.

      Nowehere in the film did it portray a future where mankind’s abundant leisure time was spent carping about every perceived “injustice”. No such dystopian future was portrayed. The snowflake generation wasn’t envisioned. Vast swaths of angry leftist white punks on dope … aka ANTIFA … we’re not envisioned. Too much leisure time … is actually KILLING our society. Slackers like those punks would have been swallowed up by the earth had they lived 200 years ago. Slackers never survived … now they breed like rabbits.

I am old enough to remember when the Transistor was invented and implemented into everyday objects (such as my very first miniature, pocket-sized, transistor radio). Without the transistor, the first semiconductor, there would have been no Moon Landing.

    The Moon Landing WAS designed and operated by a supermajority of white men … and Asians. Was it because other races were “excluded”? Nonsense. The phrase “The Best and the Brightest” has NO exclusionary racial policy whatsoever written into it. The only ‘wokeness’ necessary was to “Be Best”, Be Brightest … (to borrow from MY First Lady). PS … in MY America of meritocracy, that is the only ‘wokeness’ necessary.

    Silicon Valley High Tech firms are STILL being operated by a supermajority of white and Asian men. Despite this being an age of ‘wokeness’. Why is that you ask? Is it because our daughters are taught NOT to be engineers and mathematicians? Puhleeze! I was born in the 1950’s and throughout my entire schooling, I heard over and over and over how “girls can do the same things as boys”. Yet, when girls first start to menstruate, and the female hormones kick in … millions of years of evolutionary messages come flooding through their brains. And they get … uh … distracted. So now, some people believe it’s best to kill their unborn children … to boost women up the corporate and scientific ladder. Yeah … that’ll do it … get rid of the baby anchors … and womyn will thrive!

    The idea of blaming men, and a “patriarchal society” for nature … for physiology … for biology … is quite INSANE. MOST white men, cannot do what the NASA scientists pulled off in the 1960’s. Who are all THOSE white men going to blame for their position on the left side of the bell curve? Their parents? Yep. That’s a good start. The same parents who march with pussy hats to express their … whatever … I have no clue.

    1. Full disclosure: my two sisters have degrees in Math and BSEE, respectively. The sister majoring in BSEE received a letter from the honor society (which styled itself a fraternity) that began: Dear brother, we would like to invite you to a smoker. This was in the late sixties, when women in STEM (before such a term was coined) were still a rarity.
      So growing up, I never thought women incapable of STEM. I just thought it was a matter of interest.

      1. In my experience, your sisters are the “norm” for Asian families. It is culture (and genetics). My very first employer out of college was a Japanese man (UC Berkeley graduate – after Tule Lake internment Camp – after his family LOST their Salinas farm, and everything they owned) who owned his own business. His 4-kids: eldest son: Attorney who owned his own successful practice, second son: Attorney who was a deputy DA, only daughter: PhD in biology … and the “black sheep” of the family … youngest son who took over his father’s practice (graduate of UC Berkeley)

  11. Love the WaPo quoted article suggesting that the NASA culture was vastly different from the broader culture, which was more angry, shaggy, and stoned.
    First, why should those who are accomplishing something emulate or include those who are not?

    Second, (and this is something I truly wish the modern world would realize, despite the constant Hollywood narrative to the contrary) the hippie world of 1969 was NOT the prevailing culture of the day. It was a tiny, self indulgent minority whose very existence was only made possible thanks to the productivity and largess of the dominant culture. The media left has been holding the hippies up as iconic for the past 50 years, and in the articles quoted here (and thankfully debunked by just a few musical references) they are still assumed to have been far more prevalent than they actually were. NASA got things done precisely because they were concerned with results, not who accomplished them. The task at hand was a bigger item than the constant “me, me, me” bleating of identity politics.
    “There is something out there more important than me”….is a lesson that has ceased to be taught or even admired anymore. But it is a concept that has won wars, produced incredible technological advances, built hospitals and schools all around the world, and raised humanity above the muck and mire of primitive living. Whether that “thing” be your faith, a quest for truth, defending others, raising others up, a major avcomplishment, or simply providing for your family….NASA exemplified it at one time. The hippies never did, and their modern apologists never will.
    Yes, lefties, despite your constant denigration of white working males, it looks like they accomplished some pretty amazing things. How does it feel? (to quote Robert Zimmerman)

      If you owned a car with a radio in the 1940s-50s and turned on the radio, the first thing you will hear is the buzz coming from the vibrator. A few seconds later after the tubes warmed up the radio would begin to play. The radio vibrator was a device in the power supply to mechanically supply alternating current from the 6 or 12 volt battery to a step-up transformer to provide the high voltage needed to operate the radio. I replaced many a vibrator in my short career as a radio-TV technician back then.

    Women are a great compliment to men, of equal value and different gifts. If it weren’t for our need for women, most of us men would be happy to live in huts by the river eating fish and hunting game for meat and fur. So in a way, women are responsible for most of the great advances of humankind.
