Y2Kyoto: Tortured Temperatures

Anthony Watts;

While media outlets scream “hottest ever” for the world in June and July (it’s summer) and opportunistic climate crusaders use those headlines to push the idea of a “climate crisis” the reality is for USA is that so far most of 2019 has been below normal, temperature-wise.

Little known data from the state of the art U.S. Climate Reference Network (which never seems to make it into NOAA’s monthly “state of the climate” reports) show that for the past nine months, six of them were below normal […]

The data, taken directly from NOAA’s national climate data page, shows not only that much of 2019 was below average, but that the US Temperature average is actually cooler now for 2019 than we were in 2005, when the dataset started.

It’s a long post, grab a coffee. Read the comments as well.

  1. In SW Iowa I couldn’t get my golf league going until well into May it was so chilly. Then it started raining…and raining…and raining. We just had a couple of warm days but then it dropped back into the 60s then back up. It’s weather, morons. As long as MAD continues with the breathless, hysterical climate change reporting, the knowledge that we’re all being lied to will continue to spread (outside the coasts).

  2. It can’t be the “hottest ever” anywhere, we lack accurate records for several million years. Scheesh.

      1. Yes, warmunists hate it when you call them young-earthers.

They chose to ignore millions of year’s worth of evidence and look only at the world since 1979. Or an artificially generated 100 or 1000 years with only several selected proxies.

  3. Agenda-driven, hysterical people who actually think they are some type of awesome beacon of specialness will not be persuaded by facts or science.

    1. They rarely listen to anything but gunfire.

That’s why they want us disarmed.

    2. “… hysterical people who actually think they are some type of awesome beacon of specialness will not be persuaded by facts or science.”

Amen, Buddy. And as a testament to the enduring credulity of these fools we have two articles in the July 2019 issue of National Geographic. Here’s a quote from the first one which alleges that the mangroves are moving northwards along the Florida coast:

“What’s enticing the mangroves north? Fewer cold snaps. These days temperatures rarely dip below 25F, a vital threshold for the trees”

But a hundred or so pages later in a different article about the supposed decline of the Goliath Grouper populations:

“The current trajectory suggests 20 percent losses of remaining U.S. mangroves – devastating for young, developing goliaths, which are already reeling from unusually cold winters that took out thousands of the fish from their juvenile habitat throughout South Florida”

I mean, how is any reasoning adult able to square two stories as contradictory as this?

  4. Well, anyone living in Southern Alberta can tell you straight up….Not only has this “spring to July been colder than I can recall in 43 years of living here…it has rained far more in that period more than at anytime since I’ve lived here.

Typically, the end of July – beginning of Aug, the lawns are brown and dried out, with daytime high temps well above 30C…not so much these past few years. Since coming here in ’76, this year, I have never seen Caglary as GREEN and Lush (& cool), as it is today. Anecdotal yes…but true.

Maunder Min on its way…bet on it.

    1. Yep, about a foot of cold white precipitation fell on Rabbit Ears Pass in Colorado on June 21 this year. I have photos to prove it. The first day of summer. Anecdotal yes…but true. And yes, anyone who has even a passing interest in sunspot activity, or lack thereof, should be very worried about the potential for a Maunder Min gathering momentum in the near future. I certainly hope that fossil fuels have been abandoned by then. Ha.

    2. “it has rained far more in that period more than at anytime since I’ve lived here. ”

This summer has been so wet and so cold yet all we ever hear of are the forest fires in Northern Alberta where a freak weather system denied them rain for most of the summer. Apparently global warming caused a tiny dry patch amid 90% of the province that has had a deluge that has had our rivers running near the tops of their banks most of the summer.

  5. Heh ..
The woman that reads the news on Global will never reference to it since nobody will tell her.
So she will stay with the propaganda that the plebeians have to swallow since they, being working people, have to make a living and don’t have much time to research the nonsense the media cartel propaganda spreads like manure.
The media cartel and its fascist union has currently unbreakable hold on the airwaves and mass media.
Too bad there is not one liberated outfit that will counter the media cartel.
While the Rebel is ok, there is not one simply airing on TV or a radio.
Smith on QR 770 in Calgary is doing her best though it is regional and does not get past Red Deer even to Edmonton.
The politicians of every shade have no guts to be against the prevailing propaganda.

  6. Temperature records mean nothing. All the record high temperatures are at the poles or in the oceans that have an inexact historical record. The warmists get to create these records and then extrapolate these temperatures over millions of square miles. I want to be a scientist who manufactures my own data. Or is that becoming the norm? I looked through the data of a rural Alberta weather station for 100 years and record highs were established in about equal numbers in the 1910s, 1930s, and 1990s. Comparatively few record highs since.

‘ “Whatever happens in Greenland radiates its impact down,” he said.
During a year like 2012 or 2019, water produced by Greenland’s ice sheet adds more than one millimeter to global sea levels, according to Box. But countries in the tropics could see a rise of two millimeters or more, he said. ‘

    1. At 1 mm per year – In 1000 years it would be over my hip waders. Should I start moving now so I don’t drown?

  8. I honestly didnt know josef goebbels wrote a book about how to use propaganda.
he was the pioneer in the modern era after all, and very very good at it.
his candor about it was noteworthy also, merely another tool to get the scheeple to behave properly and do the heavy lifting.

  9. The appropriate theme song for the Cult of Calamitous Climate has to be “Oh Susanna”.
Although Minnesotans for Global Warming do come a close second.
Like all outbursts of nervous hysteria, eventually exhaustion sets in, though I do wonder how “The Weather Channel” is going to climb down from”Extreme Weather”.
The PPC might want to revive the old question for answering “concerned reporters”..”Are you on crack? Or just stupid?”.
The endless assumptions and overt lies leave the “Concerned Ones” naked and blinking stupidly in the daylight.

So many “Emperors” all wearing those new clothes..fat,ugly and naked, exposed in their righteousness as unfit to hold the post of Dog Catcher.
Yet these gullible twits, know they are better able to organize our lives, than we are…

Most of us are familiar with the truly stupid, those who have nothing better to do than interfer in our lives and business,so stupid that only PAIN will cause them to go play somewhere else.

I sense a world of pain coming.

    1. “Minnesotans for Global Warming”

An Albertan who wants to stop global warming has to be a bit of a retard, more likely a full on retard.

      1. A Canadian who wants to stop “Global Warming” has to hate their country.
The degree growing days map has to have been made extinct for any of the Global Warming alarmists to even pretend to make sense.
Policy based evidence manufacturing, the best of “Environment Canada’s Science”.
