  5. I must confess, I haven’t been following the candidates for the Conservative party leadership. I was never a fan of Scheer incompetence.

    – Derek Sloan will be hated by the MSM since he’s a Christian and he owned his own business.

      She unravels much of their narrative by vying for the leadership.
      If she were to win the Libby-Dippers would be more upset than any white supremacists.

It may be illegitimate in many respects but they are the ones that make the legislation that hurts all Canadians, like Bill C-69 and Bill C-48. Without a Federal level of government we would be at the mercy of BC to get our oil to a non-US market. We also need a federal government to speak for all Canadians, even if it’s the wrong message sometimes. The world might listen to the rep for 37.6M Canadians but could care less about a subset of 4M or even 13.6M.

  6. Three Gorges Dam update.

    The upstream pool level continues to drop, and is below 154 meters. (Normal/ desired water level this time of year is 145 meters, and the max water level is 175 meters.). They are releasing more water from the dam yesterday, and the downstream river level at Yicheng is up at slightly over 70 meters. There is also a slightly increased inflow to the dam. It isn’t going to overflow soon, and it isn’t likely to suddenly wash away after being full of water for over eight years now.

    1. I am officially “done” with COVID-19 and all the stupid people. On Monday, msn.ca reported that Canada has had 120,000 cases of the flu and that 9,000 people have died. Canada has a population of 37 million people. 120,000 cases equals 0.3243 % – less than half of one percent. 9,000 deaths equals 0.0243%. For these miniscule percentages, Canada and most of the Western world (Sweden being the exception) shuttered its economy for 2 months, destroyed many businesses and wants to delay a return to school.
      I have read elsewhere that Sweden has reached herd immunity at 30% and that their positive cases are going down. Yes, it is sad for the families of those who died, but most of the deaths occurred in assisted living homes or to those with compromised immune systems. By rights, I should have contracted this as I am 68 and have the world’s worst lungs and bronchial tubes. I have not been sick since April 2019.

I am fair bit older than you and am considered in maximum risk age and I sure a hell am not afraid.         Yep. I’ve not had a bad session of flu since 2005 – 4 bedridden days and 2.5 100″ birch trees in tissue. I’m also 68 – just had 5 Bypass surgery in Feb and am with you 100% on this.

        As a kid, we all ate dirt, played with Frogs and swam in murky waters etc etc. This so called pandemic is more a result of helicopter moms preventing poor johnny from getting his hands dirty along with the incessant propaganda over 60 yrs with demands of media and society to Sterilise every damned thing we come in contact with.     Picked up a couple of small bottles of hand sanitizer, 75% alcohol at my local drug store and in finest of print I note it’s made in a place called Gaochun, Nantung, PRC!! Needless to say they have been tossed.

    2. Liz – out here we’re getting hand sanitizers in beer cans and they are locally produced!! The other issue with sanitizers is that they have to be made with ethyl alcohol, not methyl alcohol as that can cause problems (and not just from drinking same).

  15. I am predicting a lopsided Biden-Harris victory this fall, along with the corrupt Democrats sweeping both houses. The corrupt ruling establishment will work extra hard this time, with all of their vast power, to ensure a Democratic party victory. There are some Americans upset with the awful corruption (e.g., the establishment support for the anarchist, racist BLM movement), to vote for Trump in protest. Some, albeit not many, Americans are worried about unsafe streets, but not enough to bring a needed Trump victory.

    For Trump to win, there would have to be a MASSIVE rejection of the corrupt media, the corrupt establishment. The establishment has all the power.

    1. For a Trump win all ballots would have to be verified by ID, finger prints, biometric scans and damn near everything else that could eliminate a fraudulent vote. The push for vote by mail is extremely dangerous now and an unverified vote should be a nullified vote.

        A case in point about corruption. One or two weeks ago, the corrupt Twitter corporation deleted a Trump tweet, and the media cartel went joyous with that happy news. But it turns out that the crook in charge of monitoring tweets at Twitter held a senior position in the Kamala Harris campaign. And yesterday Harris stated she wants Twitter to boot Trump off the site. Virtually all the social media oligarchs will be working to oppose the Trump campaign. And all the traditional media corporations will be doing the same.

  17. Reply to RD: Flooding and Crop Shortages. I must admit I know NOTHING about growing rice but I remember the historic flood of Manitoba in 1997. Every reporter claimed Manitoba would have the poorest harvest in years, possible food shortages. When the flood waters receded farmers got busy and planted their crops. There were record crops harvested. As an old farmer said “Water grows crops and lots of water grows lots of crops.”

      It definitely is easier to grow crops without a drought. Except it is Mid-August and China is in the Northern Hemisphere. A lot of China is as far North as Canada. Southern China may have another growing season?

      We will see what happens in the next few months. If the 3G Dam collapses against all my expectations, lots could happen.

      My Minnesota is having a bumper crop year according to the experts. Timely rains, and not too much. I saw lots of Fallowed Fields last year that are full of corn and beans this year.

      The derecho earlier this week in Iowa really wiped out a lot of their corn this year.
