  1. Don’t ya just love good luck. As a golfer I sure do. Played my last 18 for the year today. My course is closing as of today for closing maintenance.

    1. I didnt need to hear that owg. My clubs have been in the basement for weeks now and it’s looking dire for Phoenix golf this winter.
      Sigh…

  2. Looking forward to the Masters this weekend. I’m not a golfer but I grew up watching it with my dad; great memories. It has always been the harbinger of summer for me and it feels strange having it in November this year. Although, the weather has been summer-like this past week in my neck of the woods.

    1. Me too! Funny how golf is getting to be the new excitement and at times your trying to pray for rain so your favorite golfer can win as it is so easy to have a bad round or two and that other player can be hot in accuracy.

  3. I appreciate the game of golf like nothing else – I know it bores the living bejesus out of most and I guess I understand their complaints to a certain extent – golf is pretty slow moving, so there’s that. I mean, they make lawn bowlers seem hyperactive. That said I was once told by a friend who attended a PGA event that it would shock you as to what pros can do with a golf ball. Magicians.

And the only sport I know where if a lower tier player misses a cut it means living out of his or her van till the next event instead of a hotel room.
Which of course is why most golfers are conservative but I’ll leave that for another day.

    1. burton, at my age I still walk 18 and carry what is considered a Sunday bag of clubs, half a regular bag. Walked it in 3 hours yesterday. The weather was perfect.

  4. I love golf, but I stopped watching it when they started injecting woke editorials disguised as sports reporting. It doesn’t help that the Golf Channel runs constant promos for MSNBC that are nothing but Democrat agitprop. I used to leave the Golf Channel on all day. It was nice to look up and see the green grass, or watch a couple shots, and get back to what I was doing. Now the TV is dark, or I run ArtCast or something for background.

    1. The announcers tried pretty hard to “woke” the broadcast after the NASCAR Noose thing, couple of trying interviews with a POC player. He wasn’t even happy with the interviewer, trotted out the pat answers but looked really annoyed at the attention for the wrong reason.
They caught so much hell on-line and from the sponsors it ended quickly. I don’t watch the channel except for the tournaments.
I don’t watch any TV channel regularly, just PVR the shows I want and skip through the commercials or erase the show should it get stupid. The OWMBO does watch some shows so have the cable, which also has some good music channels that I use.

    2. Oh man…the wife and I loved the Golf Channel at one time! Particularly their golf challenge, the name of which escapes me…a several week long reality type show pitting amateurs against each other for the top prize but instead of being voted off by their peers they had to play their asses off to stay in contention.
      Good times.

  5. Who was it who said?
“You don’t play golf against an opponent, you play against the course.”

  6. I once had a barber who loved golf. i said i couldnt stand it . he said its the only sport where you cant cover up lack of talent with brutality .
i suppose since i have no talent , if always liked the brutal sports , football, hockey , lacrosse

  7. Here’s a golf story that’ll tie in with the dilemma that some people have with Trump’s personality.
A reporter was interviewing two pro golfers and asked them what they looked for in a golfer that would separate him from the rest. The first pro went on a long rambling answer starting with the basics. Grip, stance, position over the ball. Then the dozen or so positions you have to get in thorough out the swing and finally a nice squared up and balanced follow through. Reporter was impressed. He asked the second pro.
“I look to see where the ball lands.”

  8. Ok. Entering a friendly private pool on the 2020 Masters with choosing a 4 man team whose combined placings will come out on top.
I’m thinking Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau have to be locks (or not), so I need to plug 2 more- McIlroy, Koepka, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed, Tiger, Hideki Matsuyama. Other? Who would you say?
