The top digital journalism professor at Columbia University recently called for some center-right news outlets to be censored in the name of cracking down on misinformation.
Professor Emily Bell, director of the Tow Center for Digital Media, said it is not an infringement of the First Amendment to audit and vet some news outlets to promote a “truthful news environment.”

Totalitarians think of truth in this way, something malleable and flexible including hallucinations, so long as they’re “moral.”
Moral is further defined as in keeping with their hatreds, bigotries, paradoxes of virtue and lust for power over us.
They just don’t want to have to work for it, to prove their so-called truths; we’re supposed to accept their addled admonitions.
With fools like this teaching our kids, maybe they should stay locked down. Better idea – lock out “teachers,” empower students.

Emily Ding Dong would have felt right at home with Joseph Goebbels. It is in fact, people like her that have stained journalism to the point of being irredeemable.
She is a symbol of what “journalism” has become. Her ideology is right out of the book “Interpretative Reporting” by Curtis MacDougall in which it was said that the goal of journalism was not to accurately report the news, but to shape history. “Good journalism” must give the reader the “appropriate” context by which the “correct” opinions could be formed.
This was the birth of what we now call “advocacy journalism.” Idealist young journalism students are lapping up the vomit by people like Ding Dong. Making history was going to be far more exciting than merely reporting facts. MacDougall’s philosophy now seems to be the accepted “norm” in every major journalism school in the country.
Curtis MacDougall was Illinois state supervisor of the heavily Communist Party-infiltrated Federal Writers Project from 1939 to 1942, going on to teach journalism in Northwestern University until his retirement in 1971.
So when you hear about the “unbiased” media, give some thought to that.

The demand for “journalists” by the mainstream media continues to fall dramatically. As a result, it only makes sense to drastically downsize “journalism” faculties at universities and colleges.
Premiers Ford, Kenney and Moe are you listening? If you really are fiscal conservatives, you can save taxpayers a lot of money by doing the necessary downsizing.

What does Columbia University have to say about its Professor Bell? Two things stand out. First, no mention of university degrees, which means she certainly does not have a doctorate. Second, she has spent most of her working life at the Guardian, one of the ultimate arbiters of leftist truth.

At least half of the SDA traffic write well enough to be better journalists than those graduating from the finest J-schools, having been indoctrinated in edgy leftist dogma by the modern professoriate. Her graduates, for the small burden of a six figure student loan, can boast that they have mortgaged their future for boasting rights of having attended a prestigious school to learn what street thugs pick up for free.

the irony of course, is that these prize idiots actually believe what they are saying, and don’t even consider they might be slightly biased. Or, if they do, the think their bias leans in the “correct” direction, so it’s all OK!
I am an emeritus professor who worked construction for 17 years prior. I can say that most of the faculty I worked with in a Christian School were liberal. Imagine what the ratio would be like in a government college/university.
The very first thing that pops into my head is “oh, really?…so, CNN too? The New York Times and Washington Post as well?”
