The vote buying will pay for itself

What’s $4.8 billion between friends, anyway? A convenient rounding error? People in high places might be thinking this will pay dividends when election time rolls around.

“The federal government has blown past initial cost estimates for a key COVID-19 support program, prompting more warnings that Ottawa should modify some of its pandemic benefits as a way to trim spending.”

It’s a near certainty that any such warnings will be studiously ignored.

“The Liberals last year signalled an intention to lower the CRB to $1,600 per month, amid concerns that it could act as a disincentive for people to return to work. Those plans were later scrapped after the NDP pressured the government to maintain payments at $2,000, where they remain.”

With a Conservative opposition that seems bent on self-neutering thanks to the current leader’s taste for Liberal Lite policy, its unlikely that the Liberals will ever get much grief over this in Parliament.

  1. If it were up to me, I would simply decree that civil service was no longer a paid position. Like jury duty, you get called up, have to do a civil service stint for a month, then you are done till next time. Food and lodging is provided, and that is it. No pensions, no unions, no salaries, no contracts, no strikes, no deep state, no permanent positions.

After that, all civil service pension money is taken to pay down debt, all pension payments stop forever. Perhaps contemplate going after past pension payments for the past 100 years with interest; yes, families get to “pay it back better” down to the seventh generation.

All MP pensions and salaries, and travel allowances, gone. Go after them similarly. MPs should simply live in a barracks and eat in a mess hall while they do their time. Why do the PM and GG have anything other than an army issue cot?

Nationalize Bombardier, and all other formerly favoured “private businesses”. Basically, anyone who has ever got a loan they never had to pay back, going back 100 years.

  2. We need to put up signs all over the southern border states notifying illegal immigrants to request Bus tickets into Canada, they will be happy to take part of that $2,000 a month and free health care.

Do Canadian dollars have more value than American?

Is the word ME still allowed/legal?

    1. A day of reckoning will sharply bring reality back to our politicians as a wake up call to those nasty emissions Trudeau was so worried about.
      Thank President Trump for this!

    2. There’s no feasible way unless I am sent $5million immediately; then I will craft a plan to reduce CO2 to zero.

  3. The ultimate consequence of this folly will be the destruction of the Canadian dollar as it withers away in value toward nothing. There is much precedence for widespread devastation following the failure of a national currency in the manner that the Canadian dollar currently tracks.

Forget about retaining any useful value in savings and pensions. Debtors should not get too smug either as their ability to function economically will be rather severly curtailed. We will all pay dearly for what is underway now.

  4. You guys are all wrong. All Western Canadians need to show support for Trudeau. He is accelerating the breakup of Canada beyond our wildest dreams.
The Financial Collapse is going to be an epic spectacular Grandiose Burning Man end to the Socialist World of Canadians.
Buy shares in Hav a Hart traps Canadians will be chasing the neighbors cats and dogs for meat….This has to be encouraged demand more social programs, automatic ass wipers for covid in every home.
Demand any useless thing possible. Trudeau will borrow and print more until he is the Baby Doc Supremo Great Leader of the Rump of Canada that is left.

As Trudeau puts in official complaints for throwing a wrench in Canada’s economic engine, I expect this will be enough to change parties next election.

            Read that link, thanks.

We currently have a single digit party leader (Green) advocating turning of all energy resources. Wow. We have a current PM who’s calls aren’t being answered on this topic from our friends down south.

Further to your last point, does it really matter what party gets in next election? Get a wood stove, chainsaw and some fuel while you can to heat your house next winter.

  5. Printing money is like photocopying the play money from the game, Monopoly.

Sooner or later, it will mess up the game.

Canadians voted for this financial ineptitude and they should be the chief benefactors of it.

They trust the lies of known perverts and morons. How stupid could they be?

  6. Let’s face it, the LEFT doesn’t care about the cost of anything, that government blows away for any LEFT reason. There’s always the evil rich to tax away their riches.
They don’t care about the consequences or any effectiveness of massive overruns, either. It was done for the correct reasons, after all, nothing else matters.
Interest rates on Mega Billions will always be at ZERO, right? Buehler? BUEHLER?

    1. The problem is Canada does not feed itself. Which means unless you have a hard currency to buy these goods or food on the world market. If your currency is worthless you get the standard Socialist Diet.

Sgt. Schultz water this soup down some more. Too much cat meat add more sawdust.
Printing Monopoly and play acting only works for awhile. When you have to deliver hard goods or assets for food shit gets real.

    2. At some point, the international paymasters will call in their loans, not in expectation of repayment in currency but in power and control

      1. Robert

We can always rely on our friends in the CCP to float us a loan by way of resource harvesting. I mean the current PM does admire them so on how they run their country. I remember a TV interview before some femmes when he first ran for office about his admiration for how CCP controlled their people. They loved his hair and his socks instead.

  7. “With a Conservative opposition that seems bent on self-neutering …”

The de-balling was accomplished with scheer-the-steer. Pinky NO’Tool has taken it to the full peckerotomy (peckerectomy?) stage.

    1. It began with Harper the Incrementalist. He wrote the Bail in Laws that Trudeau enacted. He was steward of the 4.1 Trillion in Total Public Debt as of 2014. Yes not all his, it began with PET. But Harper did nothing, he stood in his wool suit and wet himself, but it made him feel warm and fuzzy. All Canadian Parties are the same shit. It is over. Call the grave diggers.

Naaahhh. Waaaay before that. Muldoon for sure.

        Clarke, Deef ….

    2. He will be our next PM as Trudeau faces an unprecedented shutdown of our fuel supply.
I don’t think President Trump did an Executive Order at the Whitehouse when he was leaving office, I think he went directly to company or State and issued his Executive Order on supplying a foreign country there.
Still on record and enforced but not at the Whitehouse. And they would not know one was issued.

Last September was an unusual inquiry on the land agreements when President Trump was still in power.

  8. With OToole there is good money on many voters staying home giving the field to the spend thrift.
Go for it, choose your destructor.
The sooner insolvency comes the sooner this problem is fixed.

  9. The “initial cost estimates” were a known lie, the perpetrators didn’t care; they didn’t care it was a lie; they didn’t care that it was wanton. Their goal was power and the credit was just there. They want power to persue their ideological goals; the money was necessary to buy off the Liberal party and their supporters.

One day, we may hear Chretian, Martin or even a Desmarais speak out, but so far they are content with the loot.

  10. Not to worry; it’s all part of the tyrant wannabe’s “phasing out” of oil and gas. He and the other elites will be fine. They can just keep burning tax dollars for warmth.
