  1. All I care about is how long I van ride the variable rate mortgage tiger. I renewed a year early, to go from 2.9% fixed to 1.5 variable. Hoping I can get a full 2 years out of it, before the house of cards collapses and I have to lock in.

    1. Bummer, my son is locked in at 3.49% for the next two years. In two years, it may be above 4% or even more.

      1. You can always get out of a “fixed” mortgage – just pay the penalty. Crunch the numbers – it might be worth it.
Scotia Bank is a good bank for mortgage flexibility.

Here in AB – the utility bills are killer! Not the actual gas or electricity but the myriad of fees attached to it. My next bill has $40 of actual utilities use but the total is $194 bucks!! Come winter it will be pay that bill or eat??

    1. Yup, until it doesn’t…
Brick walls are still hard when you hit it.

      1. We know that Prinz Dummkopf the Magnificent doesn’t climb brick walls–he walks through them as if they’re not there.

  2. 3.7%?? Why is everything up at least 20%. Everyone is getting poorer every year. The increase in gas alone has put my cost of living up 3.7%. Same with food.

    1. As far as I can tell the whole increase in the price of gas has to be taxes. Here in southern Ontario gas is about 1.35-1.40. It’s been this high before, but last time it was this high oil was over 100 bucks a barrel. Right now it’s under 66.

  3. With Canadian debt high enough, no party will be able to reduce any taxes. That is the plan to drive us into socialism, debt hostages. And with so many people using credit cards and debit cards, we are slowly being conditioned into cashless society. Sudden implementation of these sorts of things would get protested, but convincing people to do it for their own good, and the good of others works better. And inflation is a natural out come of needless debt.

  4. Yeah 3.7% is bullshit. Its higher.
(OFool needs to blame the Prime Moron.)
While I’m no expert and I didn’t play one on TV, I doubt it’ll lower much anytime soon.

  5. Gaaaad, O’Toole looks so pleased and smug with himself; haha, this is the killer. That’ll outwit the fiendish Liberals, who will promptly turn around and offer an even bigger bribe. Moron, what does he take us for? What does he think this is all about? Becoming PM for him, otherwise of no significance.

  6. The sophomoric advisors to the CPC have convinced them that they have to compete for the mindless mushy middle vote with clumsily concocted retail vote-buying rather than depicting the bleak future as a direct result of the Spawn’s fiscal incontinence and the guilt that should be attached to all those that supported him. But, since schoolyard politics doesn’t deal with realities, only fairy tales, O’Toole will waste his donor’s money on his delusions of love and fairness from the media and the strategic genius of being a poor imitator of the Spawn and his disastrous policies.

  7. So O’Toole will make everyone delay their big purchases til December and then binge in December to include all the January purchases.
I agree that this will resonate with stupid people.

Funny enough, I always though conservatives could not win by acting like liberals, but then Nova Scotia proved me wrong.

    1. I have been delaying all the purchases I can, as soon as I saw the inflation bear waking up. Maintenance on your vehicle, is cheaper than repairs. Maintenance or repair, are both cheaper than buying new.

My uncle was late on a payment. He was driving his nice new truck down the highway, a message came on the screen saying “please pull over, there is a problem”. He did, and the vehicle disabled itself. Because the bank told it too. Why would anyone pay $40, $50, $100 for a nice new truck, that they clearly do not own in any sense of the word? When do you think they will start floating the idea of “disabling clunkers, to save the planet”. Because you know they have already thought of it. They have built in the kill switch, to force you to buy new.

“Funny enough, I always though conservatives could not win by acting like liberals, but then Nova Scotia proved me wrong.”

Liberals sometimes win, by calling themselves “conservative”.

  8. The seriousness of supply chain disruptions cannot be underestimated. A sales rep who sells OEM electric motors and gearboxes told me today that 30% jumps in pricing have been happening regularly over the past 2 years. He was just told to expect another 15% hike in September. His office cannot keep up with updating their price lists. And lead times are getting longer, not shorter.

This is not a sign of a healthy economy. Quite the opposite.

  9. Of course 3.7 inflation is complete bullshit. Its easily twice as high.

And as for turdo vs no’tool.

It’s as if the stupidest teletubby finally found someone he could outwit and laugh at.
