“Financial Irregularities”

That’s what we’re calling it now.

The head of Sandy Bay First Nation’s child welfare agency has been fired after financial irregularities were discovered, the Southern Chiefs’ Organization alleged Wednesday.

At this point, Prince alleges millions of dollars have been taken from the CFS agency, which has about 100 children in its care, although he doesn’t yet know exactly how much.

“That’s basically like stealing from the kids,” said the chief, who was elected in October. “We’re going to do what we can to get whatever funds we can back to where it’s supposed to be.”

Looks like the Canadain Government is going to have to pay up to make up these stolen funds because the perpetrator is not going to pay it back. Calling Mr/Mrs/Ms/Ze /zir/etc Canadian, please add an extra couple of bucks to your tax payment.

  2. He was fired because they “were discovered”. Not because they took place. It’s hard to get away with being a complete idiot and a crook at the same time. Unless you’re a politician.

  3. On my mobile, right in the middle of this article is a huge Ceeb ad about “being Black in Canada“ that features raised fists and links to a slew of stories describing the many different ways in which 3.5% of our population is getting ready to ramp up the grifting and rent-seeking, including one about a civil suit by former Black employees against the federal government for 2.5 billion. Naturally, the article in no way suggests this might be a bad idea.

    Dump Pravda!

    1. I thought maybe I should add a note about why 3.5%; that’s the percentage of people who identify as Black in our country. So in matters of “equity“ I think it’s fair to include three or four Black people in any group of 100, even if they have zero qualifications and aren’t even remotely interested in joining. MAKE them join if necessary, because equity.

Alternatively, we could just declare open season on progressives.

  4. Don’t the Rules for Inauguration of a New Tribal Chief still include the “Ceremonial Burning of the Old Account Books?” If not, this is a terrible oversight.

Will the new Elected Tribal Chief be brooming the whole tribal government clean of all the previous corrupt cronies of the old chief, so he can install his own corrupt cronies?

  5. “We’re going to do what we can to get whatever funds we can back to where it’s supposed to be.”

That’s Injun for “Get the GPR out of the shed, the cows need milkin’.”

  6. I believe that particular budgetary black hole can be explained by adding a line item called ground penetrating radar and associated public grievances. Is there a shortage of creative accountants in the grievance industry?

    1. Strangely he is the President of the Manitoba social workers confab. Speaks volumes about their selection criteria.

I’ve always been struck by how crazy some social workers are and that we entrust child protection to them.

  7. They might refer to it as ‘irregularities’ but in fact this kind of bullshit is all too regular. And there’s not a thing anybody is going to do about it.

  8. But Harper was literally Hitler for demanding FN’s have financial accountability, even though many FN people supported it because they knew funds were being stolen. Just one small example of Canada’s systemic rot.
