  1. They really are going for the “two years to flatten the economy” scenario, aren’t they?

My Economics profs are rolling over in their graves.

    1. Looks like three Garth, if the terminally stupid Canadians keep believing in “covid”. And anyone who had a functioning brain would indeed be turning over in their grave.

  2. Dear Leader and Frauline Freehand are hell bent on selling us to Xi for less than a penny on the dollar.

    1. Selling us implies that they assume that we have some degree of worth. They’re probably negotiating with China on how much the government will have to pay Winnie-the-Pooh to take us over.

  3. I always knew it was inevitable that socialized medicine would collapse. I did not predict that this collapse would manage to take the rest of the economy down with it.

  4. So it’s $270 a week not $300 as the government doesn’t pay taxes. They just don’t give you what they say you are getting. Much like civil servants don’t pay taxes. They do paperwork that looks like taxes, but being as they produce nothing and get paid by people who do, they pay no taxes, they just don’t get what the government said they would get. No money is paid and therefore there really is no tax gain.

    1. VOWG it’s not quite like that. Here’s how it works:

Two people earn $100k each per year; Government takes $50k from each and hires one bureaucrat at $100k, who then pays $50k in tax. The bureaucrat is being hired at half rate and the government gets to pocket $50k. It is important to understand that the bureaucrat believes sincerely he is paying taxes, as they so quick to tell me here in Ottawa.

The government has no business in the pockets of the nation.

  5. Let me guess, the only ones who’ll benefit are the same welfare rats that made out like bandits for the past two years? We put a new heat pump in the house, so hubby decided to apply for an energy grant from NS power-oh joy ten hours of online paper work and every day they add a new request, bureacratic BS.

    1. Speaking of welfare rats, Rose…
There is no way that any government should be allowed to give tax money to anyone, corporation included, to do any thing that they can’t afford on their own!
If you buy it thru your own resources, you should get it!
When the government gives anything, they have to take something from someone else. And there has to be a bureaucracy to administer the spoils. And that bureaucracy shortly focuses only on its survival and not on the original purpose of its being.

      1. True CRB
Also anything that is purchased and is eligible for a gov’t grant/rebate will rise in initial price to the general am’t of said rebate.
Case in point would be that during the energy crunch of the mid seventies, the gov’t instituted a rebate/grant on alternate energy sources of heat, (read that wood stoves), IF they met the current emission standards of the time.
I believe the grant was for up to $1200 dollars. In less than a year the price of a stove rose by about that $1200.

Of course as it was perceived as ‘free money’ from the get go, so nobody thought too much of it.

  6. And the mysterious labor shortage shall continue and various self-interested parties will insist more immigration is what is needed and the government will continue to pay people to not work in response to their actions that destroy their job.

  7. Drive any ten blocks in Toronto and count the number of help wanted signs you see.
It would be much safer if you kept both hands on the wheel.

    1. Yup. Samey-same in Ottawa. There are a lot of help wanted signs. Some for skilled workers, some for unskilled labour. Most of the wages start significantly above the minimum wage.
