  1. It could be the case. As a long-time investor, however, I’d be inclined to attribute much of it to turbulence which normally occurs in the market once the “Santa Claus” rally is over.

It’s a broad-based sell-off today. Both the TSX and DJIA are down.

    1. Yup …. today’s price action in the canuck banks is indistinguishable from the normal noise of trading if u look at a one month chart of the price action.
One has to always be aware of the day to day swings of the market as the herd follows the trends du jour.

      1. I’m sure that market sentiment, at least on Toronto, is affected by Prinz Dummkopf’s rectal thunderation on Monday. Whether it has a long-term effect remains to be seen.

  2. I pulled about 100 K out the other day, and fate would have it, my timing was perfect. And it was coincidental.

  3. “Who cares about the stock market anyway? We can just print more money. Right, Herr Schwab?”

    -sparkle potato

  4. Justin (the dogless wonder) says that 50% of the money going to the truckers was donated from the USA (as if it was a bad thing). What about all the environmental activist money donated to Suzuki et al? Is that also a problem we need to put a fence around?

    1. Ask that evil witch Whitmer why she wants the bridge open for commerce but the pipeline that powers said commerce closed.
Hypocrisy is the Hallmark of the Leftist.

    2. Where is the leader of the CPC to point this out? Where is the leader of the CPC? Bought and paid for by the Liberal party. What a useless person he was. His legacy will be that of helping to destroy this nation by inaction.

      1. So far, the only one to speak up and commitment is Max Bernier. Maybe the Liberals and NDP and CPC have so exposed themselves, that Canadians will FINALLY take a really good listen to what Max Bernier has been saying, (with no MSM coverage to speak of) since he started the PPC, what, only 3 yrs ago?

I believe Max is our only hope at this point. Also, he’s got finance and law studies in his background aside from common sense and honestly being a conservative.

    1. Reminds me of the wizard of Oz except with money…
FLY AWAY MY BEAUTIES, FLY AWAY.
I guess the trust in Trudeau doing something stupid is pretty high.

  5. I am watching them on stock exchange. The whole market has gone down a tiny bit. I have BMO, TD and Scotia Bank on my watch list their shares are down less than 0.5% which is consistent with the market. Might even be less of a drop than other sectors.

Not sure what or where Bupec is getting the data presented. It doesn’t look like market values.

  6. The variation in prices today are well within ordinary fluctuations of their value.

If there was a 10% drop, then yeah, Direct Impact. But this is not the case.

  7. Folks, don’t react to short term silliness.
This is CIBC. You can look up the others on the site.

There is nothing unusual going on with bank stocks today. Click on one day, 5 day, 30 day to see that there is nothing right now.
This is not a prediction, just the current situation.

  8. Between Covid whiplash, exponentially rising debt, the threat of war in the Ukraine and central banks that want to raise interest rates, I can see a torpedo headed for the hull.

  9. The gong show continues at Ottawa city council. Ottawa may or may not have hired a new police chief from outside of the Ottawa police service. The fired chair of the Police Services Board, Diane Deans, did the hiring, but then she got fired by the mayor. So who knows, but it is irrelevant because it is clear that the RCMP and OPP are now in charge in Ottawa and they are the ones telling the Ottawa police what to do.

“I think really the straw that broke the camel’s back for the vast majority of members who voted to oust Councillor Deans was the fact that just one day after appointing Interim Chief Steve Bell, she had a signed contract with another interim chief from Toronto who knew nothing about Ottawa, was going to bring a bunch of consultants with him, sole-source contract, no public consultation, and no one has any idea what the price is for these people.”

  10. Amusing to watch all the turds these idiots tried to throw for no reason at the truckers blow back on themselves.

  11. I’ve just printed a letter for my TD bank manager. I’ve been a customer since 1984. Paid off four mortgages. Ran my business acct. there. Held nearly $1 million in TD Direct Investing and keep about $35k in my chequing acct.

I let him/her know exactly why our 38 yr. relationship is over. Very disappointed, but leaving

  12. Markets are volatile, however the atm today would only allow a $400 max cash withdrawal, where the maximum is normally $1000, according to my bank’s website. Make of that what you will.
